Chapter 18: Chapter 18 : "The Betrayal of Big D: A Duel Under the Stars"
The moment Chunhe stepped into his spatial farm, the tension in his body melted.
The air was fresh, warm, filled with the rich scent of soil and blooming herbs. The night in the spatial farm was enchanting.
Fireflies drifted lazily through the air, their golden light blinking like tiny lanterns. The glowing plants swayed gently in the breeze, casting soft blue and green hues across the fields. The sky overhead wasn't black but a deep, endless violet, dotted with swirling stars that shimmered unnaturally bright.
A place of peace, of bounty.
Here, he was no ordinary farmer. He was a lord, a ruler—a man above the heavens.
He giggled.
A man who had just saved a beautiful woman.
He laid her down gently onto the soft spirit grass. The golden-green blades swayed around her, their healing Qi already working its magic.
Chunhe wiped the rain from his face, shaking his head.
He sat beside the unconscious girl, staring at her drenched clothes. The thin, wet fabric clung to her skin, revealing far too much.
Then his gaze drifted downward.
Her soaked clothes clung to her skin.
The thin fabric left very little to the imagination.
Chunhe swallowed.
His noble heart wavered.
Chunhe was losing his damn mind.
"...Shit."
Chunhe was losing his damn mind.
This wasn't about lust. It was about kindness.
She'd freeze like this. She needed warm, dry clothes.
She'd freeze like this!
He was a kind man. A righteous gentleman.
It was his duty as a responsible man to help her.
Big D, sitting beside him, growled softly.
Chunhe ignored him.
He reached for the ties of her robe—
As the only conscious person here, it was his responsibility to ensure her well-being.
She needed warmth. She needed dry clothes.
He sighed, looking at Big D.
"You understand, right?"
SNAP! SNAP!
"ARGH—FUCK!"
A sharp pain shot through his wrist.
Big D's teeth were clamped down on him.
Chunhe stared, dumbfounded.
"...You little shit."
Big D did not let go.
His golden eyes burned with judgment.
Chunhe yanked his hand back. "What the hell?! Let go, you bastard!"
Big D did not let go.
Big D huffed, blocking the girl's body with his own.
"You think I'm some kind of pervert?!"
Big D stared into his soul.
A line drawn in the sand.
Chunhe froze, realization hitting him.
This mutt… he's blocking me?!
"Oi, oi, oi!" Chunhe pointed at himself. "I saved her! I brought her here! What's your problem?!"
Big D didn't blink.
"I'M TRYING TO HELP HER, YOU STUPID DOG!"
His fangs gleamed under the moonlight.
Big D didn't move.
Chunhe snapped.
He lunged.
Big D met him halfway.
They clashed.
Teeth and fists. Fur and curses.
He was too far gone.
His pent-up stress, his days of isolation, his lack of human contact—it all came crashing down at once.
"I'm trying to help her, you idiot!" he snapped. "You're stopping me from doing a good deed!"
Big D did not budge.
A vein popped in Chunhe's forehead.
This damn mutt…!
Chunhe bit him back.
Big D kicked him in the ribs.
They rolled through the grass, a mess of limbs and growls.
Fireflies scattered away.
Chunhe, panting, crawled toward the girl.
Big D blocked him.
Chunhe cursed, lunging again.
Big D tackled him, slamming him into the dirt.
"YOU TRAITOROUS FURBALL!" Chunhe roared, struggling beneath the weight of his overfed dog.
Chunhe twitched.
He had lost.
To a fucking dog.
Chunhe lay there, defeated, staring at the sky.
His breathing was ragged. His limbs weak.
But his spirit burned.
Slowly, he rose.
Like a vengeful ghost crawling out of its grave.
His hair was a mess. His clothes were torn. His eyes glowed with righteous fury.
Big D squared up.
Chunhe lurched forward.
Big D blocked again.
Chunhe cursed louder, swiping at the air like a possessed madman.
"You… you think you've won?" His voice was hoarse.
Big D tilted his head.
A low, broken sound.
Big D stared, tail flicking.
Then, he picked up a stick in his mouth.
A long one. Thick. Solid. A worthy opponent's blade.
The world stood still.
The fireflies hung suspended in the air, their golden glow illuminating the battlefield. The plants swayed, whispering secrets to the wind. The sky stretched deep and endless above them.
A duel of honor. A battle of vengeance.
Chunhe narrowed his eyes.
Big D wagged his tail.
"…En garde, motherfucker."
Big D growled, muffled around the stick.
Then they clashed.
WHACK!
Chunhe struck first. Big D blocked with a mighty chomp, deflecting the blow.
WHACK!
Big D countered, his stick smacking against Chunhe's leg.
"ARGH—BITCH!" Chunhe stumbled back. "YOU WANNA PLAY LIKE THAT?!"
Big D's tail wagged harder.
They circled each other, eyes locked, warriors of the night.
Chunhe feinted left—Big D dodged. Chunhe swung wide—Big D met him with a powerful chomp. Their weapons clashed again and again, stick-to-stick combat of the highest caliber.
WHACK!
WHACK!
"FUCK!"
WHACK!
"BITCH!"
At some point, Chunhe tripped over his own feet. Big D leapt, pinning him down.
A breathless silence.
Chunhe lay flat on his back, gasping. Big D, panting, stared down at him.
"You…" Chunhe wheezed. "You… bastard…"
Big D licked his face.
"UGH—FUCK OFF!" Chunhe flailed.
Big D wagged his tail.
Slowly, Chunhe sat up. His hair was a mess. His clothes were torn. His pride? Nonexistent.
But he was smiling.
A reluctant grin.
"You still suck, though," he muttered.
Big D huffed.
Finally, Chunhe sighed. He grabbed the blanket again and gently draped it over the sleeping girl.
Big D let him.
Chunhe collapsed onto his back, staring at the swirling stars above.
"…I still hate you," he muttered.
Big D curled up beside him.
The fireflies flickered, the glowing plants swayed, and the night stretched on, peaceful once more.
Chunhe closed his eyes, exhausted.
This damn dog…
He lost.
