DxD: The Devil

Chapter 6: Chapter 5 'Familiar Forest (1)'

Familiar Forest (1)

--

I had turned five just two months prior. The day I would get my peerage was coming soon—there were just ten months left.

After becoming six, I would also get a territory assigned to me in the human world. Not all high-class devils would get a territory assigned to them. One needed certain powers and connections for that to happen.

And even then, the territory assigned to me assigned to me would be shared with another devil. The territory I would be assigned was not yet fixed. Still, according to my mother till I reached sufficient age I would not be an overseer of the territory but instead be working under another high-class devil.

Of course, working under means I just had to follow some rules another devil would impose. The rules were not extreme, but I had to maintain discipline.

It was the way of Beleth, for the next heir to be competent and levelheaded. They would send them off to other noble houses or assign them a territory but due to my interest in the human world in general, my father had arranged for me to go to the overworld.

From then on, my real start would begin. My time in human territory would be instrumental for me to gain power and secure allies.

I would make use of that opportunity. I would also have my peerage.

I needed members with huge potential for my peerage. I could steal from Rias's or Sona's peerage, but right now as I am I could not offer to change too much from the original story.

My existence alone might have caused serious butterfly effects, but I still should secure everything I could.

I still need to wait a few years before I can scout for potential peerage members. Many human houses with distant devil ancestry would offer one of them to be a devil.

They usually had sacred gears and were considered useful. I could tell Brisha to look into one of them.

There were also many Recruitment agencies for high class devils to scout talents for their peerage. It was a booming business.

Maybe I should ask Father to ask one of those as well. Speaking of Varian today was when I would get to go to the familiar forest.

.

..

"Welcome to the Familiar Forest" I opened my eyes to see the forest. It fitted the theme of familiar forests of the devil. The sky was blood red with clouds covering it. I could see small creatures some I could identify some I could not around me.

"So, what should we do now?" I questioned El Cid; he was my mentor, and I had a habit of asking him everything.

"He is coming..." I could see the smirk on El Cid's face and just as he said, I sensed a rather huge life force approaching us.

I instantly looked behind. I saw a rather huge eagle-like bird. It was at least 10 meters long and had red feathers.

'I should observe.'

[Storage Magic]

An arming sword appeared in my right hand with a dim light of the magic circle.

'But it is better to be prepared.'

The bird was approaching us at tremendous speed, I narrowed my eyes. Flaring my demonic power, I gripped my sword a bit tighter, but it was all for nought.

"Don't worry. Focus more, Is this aura just of the beast or...?" I heard my mentor's words.

'Let's try it'

My eyes widened. The large life force was not from the bird but from the man sitting above it. I had only noticed the man after sensing where the life force had come from.

When I said huge, I meant bigger than El Cid or even my mother.

Though I knew El Cid was probably just restraining it and could even erase it for the sake of teaching purposes he released a bit of his life force.

I did not know about Mother though.

"Yooo!"

The man jumped from the bird but instead of falling rapidly. He floated and slowly descended.

"I am the familiar master Zatoshi!" He looked rather old, and he reminded me of Ash from the Pokémon Anime. He was the Walmart version huh?

"Hey"

El Cid chose to stay silent.

"Hey there, greatest warlord" Zatoshi said and continued "How is your familiar treating you?"

"Rather good."

Zatoshi nodded.

"Greetings Lord Vael Beleth." The man gave a bow to me. I nodded.

"What kind of familiar would you like?"

I knew what I wanted.

Author's Note: Sorry if the chapter is not to par, I am tired and sick literally.

What should his familiar be? A dragon? A hydra? A pokemon?
