DxD: Lost in Time

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Training Gone Wrong

My name is Hisashi Itō, I am currently 4 years old. I have been reborn into a family were I am an only child, something I am still getting used to.

I had parents in my past life as well and I loved them dearly but now that I have been reborn into a new family, I can try to cherish them at the very least.

I had grown attached to them, especially my mom since she brought me into this world. I however had a question. Do I really care for these so called parents mine, well now I know.

In the ruined village know as Denbō, people paid their final respects to their dead. Everyone lost at least one member, some families were entirely wipped out living no survivors. Such a tragic event occurred rendering most people homeless.

A few weeks had passed after this taboo struck the village. Denbō had already been rebuilt, the houses now stood in this humble village.

One of these houses was located near a river, it was modest since it had five rooms, but the area surrounding it was quite large. This my home.

"Do you think dad is happy wherever he is?" I do not know this world's afterlife, he saved my life so I was hoping there would be no complications in his life.

"He deserves to be happy, your father has never done anything bad when he was alive." I nodded at her words, that was true.

I sat on a Tatami mat with a woman whose purple hair was tied two neat buns. Her red eyes were the same as mine, but held maturity I never once had.

She wore a beautiful white Kimono with pink sakura theme. Her name was Natsumi Itō, the one who brought ma into this world.

Overall, she was absolutely stunning. If only she wasn't my mother. You can't have it all right?

She is not even a potential love interest with our current mother-son relationship, she would be disgusted with me if I try to approach her that way.

I saw her lips arced up to form a smile, yet her lips were trembling as we conversed. I knew better.

She was hurting inside, with how she has been avoiding direct eye contact I could tell.

"I am going to start training soon." That was the only way I could change the topic, but I always hated talking to her about this particular one.

"No Sashi-kun. This training of yours will cripple you. Besides, how are you sure that would be enough to achieve your goal." Her tone was panicked and that of lost hope.

The feeling of loosing her husband left an everlasting impact on her. She has become overprotective of her son. This behaviour was an obstacle in his path to the strength needed for survival in this world.

His mother thought it was needless effort, the beings from before posed much of a threat a normal child could bear. She would always bring this up everytime he trained.

"Mother, if I don't do something to stop those demons from slaughtering us then who will?" Besides he was already prepared.

He wore a plain white shirt and brown baggy pants. Footwear was currently unnecessary.

"It's not the type of responsibility you should bare, you know that." Natsumi retorted, someone else can bear that burden, that's what she believed.

"Yet I chose to bare it." His eyes told her everything she needed to know. That stubborn glint in his red orbs, she knew it all too well.

"Why! Why do you want to do this?" She doesn't know why he does these things, he is not old enough yet.

"Think about it mother, if I am weak then doesn't that mean death is inevitable. If I can find the strength to protect you and the village then I am fine with it, even if it kills me!"

His mother was suprised by his sudden outburst. That event also had a lasting impression on her son, who instead of cowering in fear actually tried to find ways to prevent it.

She should be proud of him, but she couldn't bring herself to do so due to the fear of loosing her only living relative, her son. She is reprimanding him for his actions to no avail.

"I would rather die trying than watch the ones I cherish die in front of my eyes again, besides if push comes to shove then just know you are the main priority." I shrugged my shoulders, what can I do?

'I am not a saint. I can only do so much, it's better to gave priorities you know.' As the room fell silent I could feel the cold breeze from outside. Who left the damn paper door open!?

The fact that it's in the middle of summer is not helping either.

She was touched by his declaration. It seems she was not the only one who was affected.

"Fine, do whatever you want. Just don't hurt yourself." With a sigh, she finally gave in to her son's request.

"Thank you mom." He kissed her cheek before standing up and walking towards the paper door before sliding the paper door close.

She beamed brightly at her son's display of affection, her smile would have attracted all eyes on her.

'He is just worried. He will probably get over it soon anyway.' She hoped so at least, little did she know it was all pointless.

"Alright, now that my problem is out of the way, let's come up with a plan." I sat in the open space in contemplation. The cold sensation is what I can feel on my back as I lie down on the grass.

My thoughts raced trying to compile my training regimen to attain supernatural powers.

The thought of succeeding made his blood pump in excitement, however he knew he should not be too excited.

"Let's see, I could follow the training I did in my past life. It would make me stronger without necessarily gaining muscle mass."

"It may not be enough, so once I have laid the foundation for my figure, I will go through extreme training in martial arts and physical conditioning."

His memories about his past life were surprisingly clear, even better than when he recalled events back then. Must be the sort of cheat he was given.

"I don't think I have a system, damn." Without such a powerful thing such as a system, his future is not guaranteed.

However, I was not going to cry over spilled milk. I will just have to find his own way through it.

I have always been curious about what would happen if a character was reborn without a system, so I had always read those genres incase it happened to me.

A good thing I did or else, I would be doomed as far as I can tell. No struggle whatsoever when I face them. Now I have to come up with a some way, a path.

"Let's see, if I can do the training plan I used in my past life and intensify it then it could be enough."

What was this training plan? Well it consists of a series of exercises that focuses on all the necessary muscle groups without becoming to bulky.

I usually did this on Monday, Wednesday and Friday but that may change the more I adapt.

I also need some sort of Mystical Training. I need to do some meditation and gain some sort of connection to one of the five elements I want to prioritise.

Fire, Water, Earth, Lightning, Air. These are the five elements I know of the most. Each element has a corresponding attribute the said caster must have.

Fire is related to energy and passion while Water is related to emotions and fluidity. These two oppose each other, every one knows that.

Earth is related to stability and structure.

Air is related to intellect and communication. It fuels fire and gives it more power

Lightning is sort of unknown to me, I mainly just though it's related to instability or something similar, so maybe it opposes Earth.

When getting your internal energies attuned to the five elements with your own efforts then you must consider this.

There is also the possibility of having an elemental affinity but let's not take any chances. Right now, that is of no importance.

"Let's start.." Determination was oozing in his voice. He raised his fist at this statement before getting down to work.

'30 Push Ups, let's go.'

A few minutes later, I was already lying on the lush grass. My chest heaving up and down, sweat dripping down my face. I seriously needed a shower.

"Damn it! Is this some sick joke!? I could do 25 push ups no problem. Why the hell am I at my limits with just 6 reps!?" If people were to see him they would be confused at why he is throwing a tentrum

I thought I could start training with intensity, however, if I can't even do 5 push ups then what good is it continuing. I could feel butterflies in my stomach at this moment.

'If training is this difficult, then can I even obtain powers!?' He let out a cry to shake of the

"Aargh, I won't know if I don't try."

"Hisashi!! What happened." Natsumi came running seeing him in this condition.

"Nothing..." I was already sweating buckets due to fear and exhaustion.

'Aw crap, at what timing!?' My panick was reasonable.

"I told you to not do this training of yours, now look at yourself you idiot. You should stop this crazy thing.

"Noo!! I will become stronger so I can protect you, nothing you say will change my mind. Tie me up if you have to!!"

"Ah!!" What just happened? She has never seen him behave like this.

"It's fine mom, I just overestimated my capabilities."

"If you are truly not going to stop.. then I suggest you be careful, alright Hisashi-kun."

"Of course, there is nothing I can't do." The sound of something grumbling could heard from Hisashi's stomach. His face turned red in an intant.

'Man, everything is off season today.' He seriously needs to sleep, this day is the worst.

"Well, you can't cook. That is one thing you can't do." She chuckled at his appearance.

"Who told you I needed your opinion."

"Fufufu. I did." She replied nonchalantly which caught him off gaurd.

"Aaa, fine, you win this one."

"Of course, now let me go and prepare lunch. You are always so grumpy when you are hungry."

He wanted to disagree again but his stomach said otherwise.

"Hehehe, your stomach seems to agree. Come one let's go." She said as she walked inside the house.

'What is wrong with you today.' I gazed at my own stomach, which seems desire making an enemy out of me. I appreciate food but was all that necessary in front of my mom!?
