During the Dark Ages

"I'll be back in a couple minutes." I said to Alice before spreading my wings. I flapped my wings generating a powerful blast of wind and shot into the sky. I then flapped my wing and flew through the air faster than ever before, even generating a sonic boom as I did. Previously it would take me a few minutes to fly to Synthia's mansion but now, it only took me a few second. I stopped infront of the [Holy Territory] and saw a few people walking around with weapons in their hand. When they saw me, they visibly panicked, a few of them looked like they were going to pee themselves, but I wanted to talk to Synthia as soon as possible so I wasn't going to wait for them to regain their wits.

"Can one of you please call Synthia?" I said, trying not to sound menacing.

"Y-yes sir." Stuttered one of the guards as he ran into the mansion.

'Sir, it seems I managed to get a bit of respect out of these ungrateful bastards with my little display of power earlier. Maybe I should do it every once in a while to maintain my image.' I thought with an evil gleam in my eyes. Soon, I could see Synthia walking out of the mansion in her human form yawning and I flew to the ground to meet her. Her hair was in disarray, she had bags under her eye and she was wearing a white dress.

"What do you want, Colin? And for the love of heaven, if you say that you just wanted to say goodbye I'm gonna kill you." Synthia said with menace in eyes.

"You look terrible. You could have at least brushed your hair before coming outside. Don't care about what your followers think anymore." I teased and she glared at me, her eyes glowing an intense yellow.

"I'm just joking, no need to be so serious." I said waving my arms around defensively.

"Either way, as I told you before, Alice and I are going to city A and because of that we won't be able to communicate with each other as easily as before. So I have a proposal." I said and held out my hand towards her much to her confusion.

"I will mark you with my [Telepathy] skill so that we could communication from a distance." I said. I had a general idea of how the skill works from the instinctual knowledge I gained during evolution but, I've never actually used it before.

"Oh, ok then." Synthia said casually with a yawn.

"Huh." I said surprised. I thought she would have been, at the very least, reluctant to just let me mark her with my skill. I was prepared to engage in a really long conversation on why she should let me mark her with my skill.

"What?" Synthia asked, staring at me with her tired and confused eyes.

"Nothing." I said and placed my hand on her forehead and activated the skill. I could feel a bit of energy leaking out of my fingers but it felt a bit different from the normally violent demonic energy, it felt almost subdued, tamed. When the energy entered her body, Synthia's eyes glowed a bright yellow before dying down and I could feel a connection between the two of us.

[Telepathic Link established.]

And the system confirmed my thoughts.

[Testing, Testing. Synthia can you hear me.] I said using the [Telepathy] skill.

[Loud and clear. Can I go back to sleep now.]

Synthia replied and I could see an annoyed expression on her face.

[Yes. See you around Synthia. And sweet dreams.] I said before flying into the sky back towards Alice.

[Goodbye, Colin.] She said before yawning and going back inside the mansion. As soon as she entered the [Holy Territory], I could feel our telepathic link become fainter than before.
