During the Dark Ages

"What? Didn't you say that humans could cultivate on the path of profanity by absorbing demonic energy into their body, so if a human can I'm sure demons can as well." I said when I saw her confusion. This request didn't come out of the blue as I've always wanted to learn how to cultivate but never had the time because I was busy training Alice and fighting the imps. Now thou, I had the time to learn it and with the astronomical amount of exp needed to level up I need it more than ever.

"It's just....you know what fine I'll teach you how to cultivate when you get back from City J." Synthia said with a triumphant smile on her face.

"Oh I think you misunderstood something, I want you to teach me how to cultivate...now." I said with a small smile

"What do you mean now, Sera's in serious trouble now and waiting any longer will only put her in even more danger." Synthia said with a frown

"I can't leave now because I have to bring Alice with me and she can't go out in the sun so we'll have to leave at night." I explained

"Curse that vampire." She mumbled to herself in frustration.

"Fine, we can start now then." She said and stepped into the [Holy Territory].

"First of all, cultivation isn't really that hard since all you have to do is absorb the energy you are aligned with into your bodies. Humans might find it hard since they are not aligned with any of the energies but for Angels and Demons it is really simple, especially for tier threes and above. Now then the first thing you would want to do is sit down in a meditative pose." She said and got into a Burmese position on the ground and I quickly followed.

"Now, I want you to take a deep breath and feel the energy around you and try to feel the Demon miasma around you. I want you to sense the energy flowing all around you, and then try and pull it in, into your body." She said and I followed her instruction and closed my eyes.

I concentrated on feeling the energy around me, this was something I had a bit of knowledge about. After evolving into a Demon Noble, I had not only gotten new skills but also got more knowledge about the already existing ones which included [Demonic Energy Manipulation]. Due to this, I can now use demonic energy in it's raw form without having to use my affinities but the offensive abilities of this method was weaker than using my affinity so it wasn't that useful. I also felt more connected with not only the demonic energy in my body but also the demonic energy surrounding me aka the Demon miasma, so feeling it wasn't too much of a problem and soon I could sense it clearly.

All around me I was surrounded by a vast sea of a dark red, violent and chaotic energy that continuously shifted unpredictably but that wasn't the only thing I sensed. Infront of me was a bright golden wall that blocked out the sea of red energy and I could feel a bit of it's nature as well, it was calm and orderly. Sensing this energy, holy energy, I felt a strong, instinctive feeling of disgust and a desire to destroy and consume this energy come from my very being, but I quickly shoved it back down. Now being able to sense energy, I tried pulling in to me and after churning and twisting a bit it moved towards me and entered my body and a strong euphoria washed over my body, and the desire to consume and destroy the holy energy got stronger. I quickly pushed this violent instinct back, but it only got stronger and stronger the more energy I absorbed.

As I battled this raging instinct I finally understood why Synthia was so afraid when I evolved into a tier 4. If all demons possessed this instinct, an innate desire to destroy holy energy and likely any being who has it, then they would want to kill every Angel and cultivator on sight. Even though this instinct can easily be pushed back, I doubt many demons would especially those who come from hell who are more brutal than the human turned ones like me. What I didn't understand is why I was only feeling it now? I have been living near to Synthia and the others for over two weeks now, so why haven't I felt this instinct until I started cultivating?
