Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Part 2
The Spike Frog boss wasted no time and launched its tongue like a grappling hook toward Hugo. Reacting on instinct, Hugo crossed his water blades, managing to block the tongue but still getting dragged a few feet before he dug his feet into the ground to stop it. The Spike Frog's spiked back expanded, and it launched a barrage of spikes toward him.

The Spike Frog boss wasted no time and launched its tongue like a grappling hook toward Hugo. Reacting on instinct, Hugo crossed his water blades, managing to block the tongue but still getting dragged a few feet before he dug his feet into the ground to stop it.
The force of the pull was immense, but his stance was unyielding, and with a sharp twist, he freed himself from the attack. The Spike Frog's back began to expand, its spines shifting and stretching as it prepared to launch a barrage of spikes toward him.
Hugo leaped into the air, narrowly avoiding the oncoming barrage of spiked projectiles. His new form granted him enhanced reflexes, allowing him to twist in mid-air with perfect agility and land softly on his feet. He barely had a moment to catch his breath before the boss fired another water blast from its mouth, a torrent of liquid flying at him like a wave.
With quick thinking, Hugo spun mid-air, his water blade catching the blast with a sharp crack. The water dispersed into a fine mist, and he used the momentum to close the gap between them, charging at the Spike Frog with determination.
The creature's tongue lashed out again, faster this time, but Hugo's superior agility allowed him to sidestep the attack with ease. Without hesitation, he dashed toward the boss's exposed side, knowing this was his moment. With a fluid motion, he formed a water shuriken in his hand, its edges sharp as knives.
He hurled it with precision, the weapon spinning through the air before striking the boss's leg. The impact caused the creature to falter, a low growl emanating from its throat. But the boss quickly retaliated with another water blast, the pressure behind it strong enough to knock the shuriken out of the air.
Hugo crouched low, narrowly letting the blast skim over his head, before lunging forward with a swift slash of his water blade.
The blade connected with the Spike Frog's armored chest, cutting through the thick hide with ease. The boss roared in pain, its spiked back retracting briefly before expanding again in a desperate attempt to fend him off. The barrage of spikes flew toward him once more, but Hugo was already on the move.
Dodging and weaving through the sharp projectiles, Hugo's eyes darted over the boss, looking for an opening. His enhanced senses, honed by his transformation, allowed him to predict the Spike Frog's movements with uncanny accuracy.
As he dashed around the boss with ninja-like speed, his water blade was a blur of motion. The creature attempted one last, desperate water blast, but Hugo was already in the air, leaping above the attack.
As he soared, he summoned two massive water blades in each hand, their shimmering surfaces catching the light as he descended toward the boss. With a final, fluid motion, he struck downward with both blades.
The force of the attack cleaved through the creature with precision, cutting deep into its armored body. The Spike Frog let out a guttural roar, its legs buckling beneath it before collapsing to the ground.
The dust around them settled, the defeated boss lying motionless as Hugo stood tall, his silhouette illuminated by the faint glow of the Megatrix symbol on his chest.
The Hunters, who had been watching from the sidelines, were silent, utterly stunned by the unlicensed Hunter's seamless victory. Their eyes widened in disbelief as the battle came to an end.
As Hugo stood over the defeated Spike Frog, the faint glow of the Megatrix symbol on his chest turned red and began emitting a rapid beeping sound. Hugo glanced down, realization hitting him like a wave.
"Time's almost up!" he muttered under his breath, panic rising in his chest. The beeping grew louder, and his heart raced in response.
The Hunters, still in awe, started whispering amongst themselves. "Who is that guy? I've never seen anyone fight like that before."
one of them said, their voice tinged with awe. Another added, "He's not wearing any badge. Could he be unlicensed? Also, he's not even associated with any guild."
Hearing their murmurs, Hugo's anxiety spiked. "Oh no, I can't let them see me reverted back! Or else my identity would get reveal!" His mind raced as he scanned the area. Without wasting another second, he spun on his heels and dashed toward the nearest alleyway, hoping to make his escape before the transformation ended.
"Hey! Stop!" one of the Hunters shouted, but Hugo was already gone, his enhanced speed propelling him through the narrow streets as he avoided the crowd. His heart pounded in his chest as the beeping from the Megatrix grew louder, each second feeling like an eternity.
The alleyways twisted and turned, and Hugo used his superior agility to weave through the maze of streets, staying just ahead of the Hunters' calls.
His body screamed for rest, but there was no time for that now. The Megatrix's countdown was ticking down, and he had to find a way to escape unnoticed.
Finally, he turned a corner and ducked into an abandoned building just as the Megatrix's timer hit zero. A flash of light engulfed him, and in an instant, he collapsed onto the floor, his transformed state disappearing as he reverted back to his normal form. The familiar weight of his body felt strange after the transformation, and Hugo panted heavily, wiping sweat from his forehead.
"That was way too close, for comfort." he muttered to himself, staring at the now-dim Megatrix on his wrist. He leaned against the wall, trying to catch his breath, but the sound of footsteps in the streets outside kept him on edge.
From the streets outside, he could still hear the Hunters searching for him, their voices growing louder as they closed in. "We'll find him! He couldn't have gone far!"
Hugo smirked to himself, but there was no time to celebrate his escape. "Not today." He adjusted his bag, took a deep breath, and slipped out the back door, blending into the crowd as though nothing had happened.
Then, a sudden realization struck him like a thunderbolt. "Wait a second... SCHOOL!" he shouted, his eyes wide with panic. He glanced down at his phone, pulling it from his pocket, and his stomach sank. The screen displayed the time, and he groaned in frustration. "I'm so late! And it's Monday! Of all days to fight a dungeon boss, why today?!"
His feet moved before he could think, and Hugo bolted out of the building, carefully weaving through the crowd to avoid the Hunters still searching for him. Once he felt safe, he broke into a full sprint, his legs burning as he pushed himself faster toward the school.
The timer on his transformation had drained all his energy, but he had no choice but to keep running. His lungs burned, and his heart pounded, but he couldn't afford to slow down now.
"First a dungeon breakout, then a transformation, now this... What's next, detention?!" Hugo muttered, dodging pedestrians and narrowly avoiding a fruit cart as he dashed through the busy streets.
By the time the school gates came into view, his legs were like lead, and his chest felt like it was about to burst. Sweat streamed down his face, and his breath came in ragged gasps. But none of that mattered now. He had to make it to class before the teacher decided to add another lecture to his already chaotic day.
As he crossed the school's threshold, he couldn't help but think, I'm never doing that again but I will still do it again.
