Dragon's flame

Chapter 18: CHAPTER 17: BATTLE ABOVE DRAGONSTONE

[Aelyx's POV]

The last thing I saw was a massive black dragon charging toward me and Vhagar… Cannibal. It sank its monstrous teeth into Vhagar's neck, rendering her unable to move. I could feel the cold, calculating aim of crossbows targeting us from all directions.

"Vhagar, vraze rhaenys!" I shouted desperately. (Vhagar, use him as a shield!)

Vhagar, responding swiftly, released Cannibal and pivoted toward the crossbowmen. Sensing the imminent threat, Cannibal finally let go of Vhagar and soared above us.

Without missing a beat, Vhagar unleashed a powerful torrent of dragonfire into the air, disorienting the crossbowmen and disrupting their aim. She then dove straight at Cannibal.

The beast roared in defiance, ready for another brutal confrontation.

Screeeee!

The sound of a deafening roar echoed from behind me. I whipped my head around to see Daenerys soaring into the sky, her dragon burning the Triarchy ships carrying the crossbowmen to the ground. Caught completely off guard, the Triarchy forces could do little to counter the destruction.

I turned back to the battle between Cannibal and Vhagar. The two dragons clashed with incredible force, but Vhagar, due to her immense size and raw strength, had the upper hand. She sank her fangs deep into Cannibal's skull, shaking him in the air like a ragdoll.

Cannibal howled in agony, his roar filling the skies as he fought to free himself.

[Rocallio Ryndoon's POV]

The gods must be watching over us—the black dragon attacked Vhagar, and the two beasts locked into a deadly stalemate high above.

"Aim the crossbows! Shoot them both down!!" I ordered, my voice tinged with panic.

My men readied the crossbows, but just as they were about to fire, the stalemate was shattered. A loud roar split the air, and from Dragonstone, another dragon—green and fierce—tore into the skies, incinerating the crossbowmen in an instant.

We've lost too many ships already, and the walls of Dragonstone stand strong. we have no chance of winning this fight.

With a sinking heart, I bellowed, "RETREAT!!" at the top of my lungs, my voice hoarse with desperation.

[POV end]

The battle between Cannibal and Vhagar stretched on, both dragons battling in a desperate dance of death. But in the end, Vhagar's raw power prevailed. She tightened her grip on Cannibal's neck, pulling him toward a devastating plunge into the sea.

Vhagar flew dangerously close to the retreating Triarchy ships as she released a torrent of fire.

Finally, with a final, decisive strike, Vhagar's teeth pierced Cannibal's throat, extinguishing his life. She flung his lifeless body onto the shores of Dragonstone, her victory complete.

[Daenerys's POV]

The Triarchy ships were in full retreat, and with Cannibal's death, the battle seemed over. But something felt off, an ominous weight hanging in the air. Even after slaying Cannibal, Vhagar continued to unleash fire, the anger and ferocity still coursing through her. Then, I saw it: an arrow, swift and deadly, plunged deep into Aelyx's stomach, sending him collapsing onto Vhagar's back. My heart stopped.

Out of nowhere, Craxes appeared in the sky, spewing dragonfire upon the fleeing Triarchy ships, but my focus remained on Aelyx.

I called to Vhagar, my voice trembling with urgency, "Vezhvenas!" (Let me help!)

Vhagar obeyed, moving closer to Vaxylis. The bond between Vhagar and Vaxylis had grown incredibly strong over the years. Without hesitation, I leapt from Vaxylis onto Vhagar's back, desperation overwhelming me.

Aelyx's blood soaked through my hands as I held him tightly. Memories I'd tried to bury came flooding back, consuming me in waves of pain. I cannot lose him—not now, not ever.

"Vaxylis, vezhven, rūnagon!" (Burn them all!)

Vhagar, almost sensing my fury, landed on the shores of Dragonstone with a thunderous crash. Rhyun was already rushing toward us.

"Take him to the Maester, now!" I ordered Rhyun, my voice strained with fear, as I followed closely behind, unable to tear my eyes away from Aelyx's pale face.

[Alicent's POV]

My heart sank as I saw the black dragon attack Vhagar. In that instant, it felt as though death was certain for us all. But somehow, everything turned out in our favor. Still, it hurts to know that two children—Aelyx and Daenerys—had to fight to save us.

I never thought I would see the day when I would feel relief at the sight of Daemon Targaryen, but here he was, descending from the sky with his dragon, torching the retreating Triarchy ships in his wake.

Then, my worst fear became reality: I saw Daenerys jump from Vaxylis to Vhagar. My breath caught in my chest as I realized what was happening. When Vhagar descended, I saw Aelyx lying unconscious, an arrow piercing his stomach.

No, no… If something happens to him, how will I ever face Viserys? How can I tell him that his precious son, barely ten name days old, is gone?

I dashed toward the Maester's chambers the weight of the scene crushing me. Laena, seeing Daenerys's distress, rushed forward and embraced her, offering whatever comfort she could. The poor child clung to Laena, her body shaking with barely contained sobs.

I stood there for a moment, helpless, unable to find the words. The sight of Daenerys, covered in Aelyx's blood, was too much. It was a stark reminder of the horrors that had come to pass, and the toll it had taken on both of them—these two young souls who had been forced into a war they did not choose.

Then, I saw him. Daemon Targaryen was rushing toward us, his usual mischievous grin nowhere to be found. His face was grim, eyes wide with shock, his usual playful demeanor completely shattered .
