Chapter 7: Multiple Choices
After noticing Yamcha chasing after him, Tien no longer flew and came back to the ground.
Yamcha soon caught up to him; he stopped running and skidded to a stop before Tien.
"Hey man, I heard you were planning on building a kingdom?"
Yamcha smiled and pointed towards himself.
"Need my help? This sounds interesting, and I have nothing to do."
"Puar is visiting his kindergarten teacher as well; I am pretty free right now."
Folding his hands Tien seriously considered Yamcha's suggestion. It was sudden, but it seemed like a good idea.
Yamcha might be lazy, but he was street smart; he survived 2 decades as a desert bandit. Having him along might help.
Tien thought about it and agreed to take Yamcha along; two people were always better than one.
"Sure, you can come along."
Tien nodded gently.
"I was about to look for a king, who is experienced in managing his own kingdom."
"I was thinking of inviting him as my minister. Bulma said, I need a minister before I do anything else."
Tien spread his hands and spoke about his barebones plan; Yamcha thoughtfully rubbed his chin.
Employing a minister, who can run a kingdom was a good idea, but where will they find such a person?
"Where are we going to find a king, who is ready to be your minister?"
Yamcha rubbed his hair in distress. He wanted to help, but couldn't remember any kings who fit Tien's criteria.
Tien didn't have a suitable candidate in mind either. It was better to stop first, and consider all the kings they knew.
"How many kings do we know in total?"
Tien asked Yamcha
"Let's name them one by one, and decide if someone is suitable to be my minister."
Yamcha smiled wryly at this difficult question; he wasn't knowledgeable about this area.
Still, he had decided to help Tien with his quest, so he thought about it seriously.
"I know about King Furry; that guy's the king of the Earth."
"But I don't think he will stop being a king, and suddenly become your minister."
Yamcha first ruled out Earth's most famous king. There was no way King Furry would become Tien's minister.
Frowning hesitantly, Yamcha tapped his shoes against the ground for a few seconds.
Then his eyes lit up; he remembered another king, and this was someone they knew personally.
"I just remembered someone else; what about Ox King?"
Yamcha patted his hand
"He had a castle on Fire Mountain, and ruled over the village below it."
"He is also Goku's father-in-law, and Chichi's father. He might be able to help us."
This new suggestion was worth considering. Ox King was a good choice, all things considered.
But after he went crazy and destroyed his village a few years ago, he has stopped ruling over Fire Mountain.
As of now, Ox King is no longer a king but is a full-time grandpa, to the newborn Son Gohan.
"He seems like a good choice, but I don't think he will be interested in my proposal."
Tien remembered Ox King's lazy actions in the future.
"He made a major mistake back in the day, and has given up on being a king."
"He might not be interested in managing my new kingdom."
Ox King's family lacked money in the future. Goku and Chichi were dirt poor, but Ox King couldn't help them at all.
This proved that Ox King had completely given up. If he was interested in ruling, his daughter's family wouldn't be so poor.
That's why, even if Ox King seemed like a good candidate on paper, he was not the right man for this job. They will have to keep looking.
"Really? That's a bummer."
Yamcha sighed.
"Ox King is a good man; sad to hear he gave up after his mistake."
"Okay, if he isn't suitable, we just have to find someone else."
Yamcha set aside Ox King and tried remembering any other Kings he knew, but he was coming up blank.
Kings and kingdoms were not his expertise. He was a bandit and a martial artist; he knew martial artists, not kings.
After a few more minutes of thinking, Yamcha pulled his hair in distress; he really couldn't remember any other king.
"I don't know, man; I don't know anyone else."
Yamcha shrugged and gave up thinking.
"I know a lot of martial artists, but Kings are beyond my knowledge."
"Our friend group in general is not usually concerned about things like this."
Tien agreed with Yamcha on this point; Z fighters usually didn't bother with money or authority.
Still, he needs to find a minister anyway. Tien was not going to give up at the starting point.
Tien wasn't without ideas, just now when Yamcha mentioned martial artists, Tien remembered a man who might fit his criteria.
This man was someone they had met before, and he had fought Goku on two separate occasions.
"What about King Chappa?"
Tien said while recalling the famous martial artist.
"He was the winner of the 20th world martial arts tournament."
"He had won that tournament, without even being touched."
Yamcha tilted his head while recalling this old martial artist.
"I know that guy; he was the previous champion but lost against Goku twice."
Tien nodded with his hands folded.
"Yes, back then he was considered a sizable threat; he was on King Piccolo's hit list."
"He is strong, for a man without Ki. But most importantly, he's a king with his own kingdom."
Chappa was the king of a barren land. There he had built his own temple, dedicated to martial arts training.
He was by name a king of those lands. In the future, Majin Buu's reincarnation, Uub, will be born and trained under him.
Not only that, the fighter Nam was also a citizen of his kingdom. Due to its harsh environment, this kingdom had many strong fighters.
The best part was, King Chappa was a martial artist at heart who was used to ruling barren wastelands.
Tien's new kingdom would be on a barren subcontinent. King Chappa was perfect for managing a place like this.
"He does seem like a good choice."
Yamcha agreed with Tien's recommendation.
"We might be able to convince him; he was a pretty chill dude."
"He lives in a martial arts temple. I know where that place is; let's go find him."
Yamcha gestured and decided to show Tien the way, Tien agreed to go along. It was easier to find King Chappa this way.
While flying towards his destination, Tien was wondering how to convince Chappa; somehow he needed to get this man's loyalty.
