Dragon Tamer

Chapter 629 - 631: Nightmare Haunting

Chapter 629: Chapter 631: Nightmare Haunting

Mountain Gong is massive, and Divine City is likewise vast and magnificent. Below Mountain Gong lies Plain City, bustling and dense; from a distance, one can see many towering Qingdeng Ancient Towers surpassing all other pavilions…

“Sparrow Wolf City is divided into the upper city and the lower city. The upper city is the true Divine City, blessed by the starlight of the Sparrow Wolf God, but the lower city is more complex and chaotic. There are all sorts of people there, and it’s even easy for followers of foreign gods to slip in,” Mi Rong said.

Located atop Heaven Arch Mountain is the upper city.

In the plains lies the lower city.

The three of them entered the upper city, which although primarily inhabited by the Sparrow Wolf God’s people, God’s Descendants, and other ruling classes, didn’t outright deny entry to others. As long as they weren’t outcasts, regardless of which gods’ children they were, they could all enter the upper city directly.

“The Sparrow Wolf God is quite enlightened, huh. Some inner cities don’t even allow ordinary folks to enter,” Zhu Minglang said.

Mi Rong just smiled at this and didn’t reply.

By the time they reached the upper city of Sparrow Wolf God, it was already dusk, so Zhu Minglang found an upper city inn to stay at. The price was incredibly steep; it was bearable for a night or two, but for an entire month, it would bankrupt an average family!

“There are plenty of cheap inns in the lower city, go look over there,” the innkeeper said haughtily, clearly not paying any mind to such common wayfarers, seeing himself as superior, endowed with the status of God’s people.

“Show some respect when you’re speaking to the young master,” Pang Kai stepped forward, his demeanor suddenly fierce, a stark contrast to his simple and honest appearance as if he were a butcher from a battlefield!

The innkeeper turned pale and didn’t dare utter another word.

While a citizen of the God’s people, he didn’t have even the slightest cultivation base; he merely operated an inn in the Sparrow Wolf upper city, living without worry for food or clothes, under the protection of the gods, and considering himself above the rest.

“All divine cities have a curfew; sleeping on the streets is not allowed. However, in every place blessed by Divine Starlight, inns charge exorbitant prices under the guise of granting blessings in the light,” Mi Rong said with a smile.

“Fine, let’s just settle for the first one then. This is truly outrageous. Owning an inn in Divine City must be more profitable than a gold mine,” Zhu Minglang said.

“The protection of any deity is very expensive. It’s the same in our Xuange Divine Country too; everywhere is rife with this kind of exploitation,” Mi Rong remarked.

Though the two cities are only divided into upper and lower, connected by Heaven Arch Mountain, the lower city is not peaceful.

At night, creatures like the Night Demoness, which can mingle amongst the living, wander through the complex markets.

Actually, even if Zhu Minglang and his companions stayed in the lower city, it wouldn’t matter much. Being Divine Chosen and God’s Descendants, if the light from the Qingdeng Ancient Towers can’t drive away those nocturnal beings, the chance of them being targeted is minimal.

What Zhu Minglang really wanted was to experience this so-called Divine City.

He was also curious to see if the gods truly sat aloft in the Divine City, gazing down upon the bustling mortal world with an unfathomable smile…

Once night falls, the curfew begins.

Even in the nights of Divine City, one will not see many people moving about outdoors.

There are night patrollers on the streets of the Divine City. Anyone they come across on the streets or alleys will be questioned, and if they cannot give a reasonable explanation for being outside, they will be detained.

Even with Divine City’s might, it’s not entirely fearless in the dark; one can see that they are also seriously on guard.

If thought about carefully, the tranquility of Supreme Court’s River Street, with its beautiful lanterns and the brightly illuminated famous buildings and painted boats that never lose their luster all night, is quite something. It makes one wonder how the men in Tian Shu God Domain pass the long nights…

It was indeed much more comfortable to sleep within the Divine City than in some of the Terrestrial Temples outside.

Zhu Minglang suspected that there were night creatures in the darkness capable of manipulating one’s dreams. A few days ago, when resting in a Terrestrial Temple, Zhu Minglang couldn’t understand why he kept dreaming of the Yama Dragon.

The eyes of the Yama Dragon, like the vast night, hung above him, and several times Zhu Minglang had been awakened from his deep sleep in alarm, hastily using his Divine Sense to perceive his surroundings…

Only after entering Sparrow Wolf Upper City and being blessed with the Divine Starlight’s protection had Zhu Minglang spent a night free from nightmares.

Waking up refreshed early in the morning, Zhu Minglang had enjoyed some special breakfast unique to Sparrow Wolf Divine City and was ready to meet the Divine Chosen, God’s Descendants, and the powerful God’s people.

Mi Rong informed Zhu Minglang that Sparrow Wolf Divine City would be hosting a division congress in the coming days, primarily for the civilized and friendly instruction of the new arrivals by the various Lower God Organizations.

This division congress was something Zhu Minglang had to attend.

He could figure out exactly which forces intended to make a move against the Supreme Court.

“How did you sleep last night?” Zhu Minglang asked with concern when he saw Mi Rong approaching.

Girls are after all more delicate and not sleeping well can affect their complexion.

“Does Brother Zhu find it hard to get used to new beds? I have been sleeping very soundly these days,” said Mi Rong.

“Is that so? The past few days in the Earth Temple, I kept having nightmares. Perhaps the Yama Dragon has indeed cast a rather large psychological shadow on me,” Zhu Minglang said.

“Ah??” Mi Rong showed a look of surprise.

“What’s wrong?” Zhu Minglang became puzzled. Having a nightmare wasn’t something to be ashamed of, certainly not as bad as wetting the bed. There was no need for Mi Rong to make such a face.

“Brother Zhu, that might not be simply a nightmare. If it happens several days in a row, it’s very likely the Yama Dragon is using some nightmare ability to cast a curse on you, or perhaps it’s using the night dreams to find our location,” Mi Rong explained.

This time, Zhu Minglang was the one left with his mouth agape.

Could the Yama Dragon also enter dreams to find people??

“The Yama Dragon might not possess this ability, but creatures like the Night Demoness, Midnight Dream Demon, or Nightmare Dragon all have related night dream powers. The Yama Dragon might have commanded these Night Spirits to search for Brother Zhu,” Mi Rong continued.

“Now that you mention it, I feel like each time in the dream world, the Yama Dragon’s eyes got closer to me. Does it mean it has narrowed down its search to the traces we left during the day?” Zhu Minglang immediately became more concerned.

Upon hearing this, Mi Rong grew even more certain that the Yama Dragon had not given up on the Moon Jade Glass, or maybe it was already fixated on Zhu Minglang!

“We need to find a Dream Master,” said Mi Rong.

“Dream Master?” Zhu Minglang had never heard of such a Divine and Mortal.

“It must have been that day at Crater Basin; we must have left something behind that carried our scent. Brother Zhu, we need to rid ourselves of this dream entanglement, or else we’ll never be able to leave Sparrow Wolf Divine City, and we wouldn’t even dare go to the Lower City,” Mi Rong said.

“Is a Dream Master easy to find?” Zhu Minglang asked.

Mi Rong shook her head.

The profession of a Dream Master was as rare as a Prophet.
