Chapter 41: The Fragrant Qiluo Immortal Herb

After a brief rest, Yang Potian slowly opened his eyes. His father immediately asked, "Potian, how are you feeling? Any issues with your body?"

Yang Potian checked himself over carefully. "Dad, I'm fine. The Nine-Leaf Sword Grass is amazing. After absorbing it, I feel I've gained a much deeper understanding of both sword energy and spear techniques. My body feels exceptionally clear, and I think my spirit power will improve much faster from now on."

He continued, "I'm still at level 22, but it feels like my body has broken through some sort of barrier. I doubt I'll hit another bottleneck for a while."

Yang Potian couldn't help but think to himself: his body now felt similar to a mythical "innate sword physique" from fantasy novels in his previous life. It was a pity that his martial spirit wasn't a sword; otherwise, his abilities might have improved even further.

Hearing this, Yang Zhentian finally sighed in relief. "Potian, the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass enhances one's comprehension of sword energy and also one's understanding of Metal Qi. For a spirit master, absorbing this herb boosts one's intuition for both sword and spear attacks. Your Breaking Soul Spear's sharpness and Metal Qi should also be greatly improved."

"That's exactly how it feels—like I understand my Breaking Soul Spear so much better now. My combat strength has increased substantially."

After some more conversation, Yang Zhentian began preparing to leave, but Potian spoke up, "Dad, aren't you forgetting something?"

"What? I don't think I'm forgetting anything."

"Aren't we supposed to restore everything here so no one finds out about the immortal herbs we took?"

Hearing this, Zhentian felt a bit speechless. My son is perhaps a bit too cautious, he thought. Together, they carefully restored the area, filling in any holes they had dug and planting some wild grass and lower-grade herbs to cover the freshly turned soil. After half a day of work, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well was once again as it had been, leaving no traces for any outsiders to discover.

With that done, Zhentian took Potian's hand, and the two quickly exited the cave.

"Dad, are you sure you don't want to get your eighth spirit ring right now?"

Zhentian shot his son a look. "No, let's head back first. I'd rather handle such an important matter back home. This all feels like a dream."

"Dad, please remember: don't tell anyone about the immortal herbs we found, or it could bring us major trouble."

Zhentian patted his son on the head. "You cheeky kid! Do you really need to remind your father about something like that?"

The journey back was fast; within a day, they exited the Sunset Forest, retrieved their carriage, and returned to the Po Zhi Clan's grounds.

As soon as they got home, they were met by Potian's mother, who promptly scolded them. "Zhentian! Potian! You two only went out to hunt a hundred-year spirit beast. Why on earth did it take so long? Do you know how worried we've been? The clan leader almost sent a team out to search for you!"

Father and son exchanged glances, both a bit sheepish.

"Dear," Zhentian explained hastily, "Potian got a particularly good spirit ring this time, so that's why it took longer than expected."

"No matter how good the spirit ring, it shouldn't have taken that long! And judging by the look of you two, something's changed. Did you two go treasure hunting somewhere?"

Both father and son were speechless. They inwardly marveled at how sharp Potian's mother was. They needed an escape before she dug any deeper.

"Dear, I need to go find my father and update him on the situation so he doesn't worry."

"Mom, the Sunset Forest trip took a lot out of me. I'm going to get some rest."

Before Niu Jinfeng could react, the father and son had already slipped away.

Potian went straight to his room and collapsed into bed. The trip to the Sunset Forest had taken a toll on him, both mentally and physically.

Meanwhile, Yang Zhentian went to find his father and uncle, bringing them into a private chamber without explanation.

"Zhentian," Yang Wudi asked, "what's so secret that it needs to be discussed in a private chamber?"

Without a word, Zhentian took out the Fragrant Qiluo Immortal Herb from his spirit tool.

The moment Yang Wudi saw the Immortal Herb, he snatched it up with a speed that stunned everyone, with Yang Wushuang crowding in close. They both held the herb as if it were a priceless treasure, hands trembling with excitement as if looking at the love of their lives.

For over an hour, they were lost in admiration for the herb, occasionally stroking its petals in awe.

Finally, they snapped out of it and turned to Zhentian. "How did you acquire the Fragrant Qiluo Immortal Herb? Are you sure there's no risk involved?"

"Father, Uncle, I discovered this herb in the Sunset Forest. While I was out with Potian for his spirit ring, we found it hidden within a cloud of poisonous fog."

Seeing their lingering doubts, Zhentian recounted their journey in detail, including the discovery of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. He didn't, however, mention the other immortal herbs he'd taken.

When Yang Wudi and Yang Wushuang heard this, they were astonished. The very idea of finding the legendary Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well left them breathless. Yang Wudi beamed with pride, thinking to himself that his grandson was truly blessed; what other child would return from a spirit hunt with such treasures?

They were eager to head straight to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, but Zhentian held them back, relaying Potian's plan and revealing the other spirit herbs they'd collected, including two Ten-Thousand-Year Ginseng Kings, the Earth Dragon Melon, Nine-Grade Purple Ganoderma, and Ten-Thousand-Year Earth Spirit Ganoderma.

After listening, Yang Wudi and Yang Wushuang fell silent, only speaking after a long pause. "Zhentian, this plan of yours is solid. It's best to keep things cautious. You're now the deputy leader of the Po Zhi Clan, and one day you'll be its full leader. Follow your plan to the letter."

Relieved, Zhentian continued, "Then, Father, Uncle, let's go ahead and use one of the Ten-Thousand-Year Ginseng Kings. I'll bring Jinfeng here later so we can all return to the Sunset Forest together. I still need to acquire my next spirit ring now that I've reached level 80."

Yang Wudi raised an eyebrow. "Weren't you level 76 just recently? How are you already at level 80? Did you eat something from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well?"

Zhentian knew he'd been caught. "Father, I found a Nine-Grade Dragon Ganoderma and a Nine-Leaf Sword Grass there. I took the Dragon Ganoderma, and Potian used the Sword Grass."

Yang Wudi's expression shifted to anger. "Outrageous! That's reckless! The Dragon Ganoderma is suited for you, but Potian's only eight years old. How could he possibly handle the Metal Qi of the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass? Do you know how dangerous that was?"

Seeing his brother growing angrier, Yang Wushuang interjected, "Brother, don't be upset. Potian is careful. He succeeded, didn't he?"

"I just worry that next time he'll take some other outrageous risk! That kid is bold beyond reason."
