Chapter 3: Nouding Academy
Infront of the Nouding Academy, stood an intimidating looking guard with a wooden club. He was arguing with an old man. Chao rushed over and got in between them. "Hi, sorry for interrupting, but you should show courtesy to elders and not yell at them, that's the least they deserve."
The Guard looked at Chao to check if he was a student at the academy, and when he didn't see him wearing a school uniform, he became confident.
"Little brat, you don't even know the situation and you are jumping into the conversation. They are liars, they have a forged card with the soul power of ten for that young man, but they don't even know that blue silver grass is the worst martial spirit."
Chao was expecting Chief Lang to appear and take his side, but he seemed to be missing. The Guard started scolding Chao, which irritated him.
The final straw was when the Guard started insulting his parents. After a while, chao decided to stand up for himself, and not take this type of behaviour from a talentless school guard. "Listen up you orangutan looking dog, you are standing here guarding a school because you are useless. You don't even have a soul power measuring device because they don't trust you. Your only job is to stop people from making trouble, and not to cause it. If they are lying they will pay their price inside, from the people that actually know their stuff, instead of people like you. Now go be an obedient little dog, because that's what you are getting payed for."
After this outburst, everybody were shockingly quiet. The little kid next to the old man had a petrified look on his face. It seemed like he had never seen anyone so young also be so talented at cussing somebody out.
The Guard's face was getting redder by the second. The Shame that this guard felt from a little kid wouldn't be able to disappear by only yelling at him. He wanted to make Chao beg for mercy. The Guard quickly charged at Chao with his wooden club, trying to smack his head. The wooden club was not that big or fast, so Chao was able to dodge it pretty easily, making the guard hit the ground instead.
The Guard quickly gathered himself, trying to attack Chao again. As he was doing that, a snake with a dragon's body appeared behind Chao. After seeing it, the guard stood there in awe. The more time he spent looking at the Hydra, the more his confidence and anger turned into fear.
He put down his club and walked backwards, shivering. After seeing this, Chao quickly deactivated his martial soul. "Listen up, I don't want any problems with you. Here is my identification card. I'm this year's working student from the Deathly Silent Wolf's Village. Can I go in?"
The Guard stopped shivering and got closer to Chao. He took the Identification Certificate from him and nodded at him, expressing his gratitude for not embarrassing him any further. He gave the Identification card back to Chao and sent him in.
Chao entered the Academy's grounds. The school building was bigger than any building he has ever seen in this world. While he was looking around, the little boy came close to him and tapped his shoulder.
Chao turned around to see a little boy that had such fair skin that he looked like a girl. The little boy bowed to Chao and said. "Thank you for standing up for me. My name is Tang San, what's your name?"
"My name is Chao Feng, but everybody just calls me Chao." He said, introducing himself.
Chao bowed slightly and kept going "We are going to be school mates soon, so you don't have to be so polite to me"
Chao and Tang San were talking when they noticed a middle-aged man coming towards them. He looked like a Noble, but seeing as he hasn't shaved his beard for weeks, he looked more like a deadbeat husband.
The man seemed to be observing them for a while before he finally decided to talk. "Hey kids, do you mind showing me you identification cards?" Tang San was about to give his card to the man before Chao stopped him in his tracks.
Chao took Tang San's card far away from the man and quickly asked him,
"Are you a teacher? Or the principle of this school?" The man looked at Chao and proudly said "No, I am not, but I'm close friends with the principle and I'm staying here".
Chao gave Tang San his card back, not showing any appreciation towards the man. "Well, if you are not a teacher, you don't need to see our identification cards. We will go register, and if you want to know about out martial spirit, you can find out there."
After saying this, Chao turned around and walked towards the registration hall while Tang San followed him like a little sheep.
The man's face was getting darker and darker the further Tang San and Chao went.
Signing up didn't take much time after the initial shock from the teachers, finding out about Chao's and Tang San's martial souls. The teachers directed them towards their home quarters and told them to go meet their roommates.
Tang San and Chao were close to their home quarters when they heard the sound of fighting. They increased their pace, and once they got there they saw a purple haired boy fighting a black haired kid.
The black haired kid was attacking the purple haired kid none stop, but it seemed like his punches and kicks were falling too short. He wasn't even able to land a single attack the whole time Chao was watching.
As the time passed by, the black haired kid's punches became really slow. It seemed like the fight was about to be over, but then the purple haired kid finally made a move. He charged at the kid with the black hair, who didn't have a chance to dodge the kick that was aimed straight to his face.
Right as the kick was about to land on the kid, Chao got in between them and caught the incoming leg. "Let's stop this now, ok? I'm pretty sure you won this and nobody will question that."
The kid took his leg back and looked at Chao with a questioning face. The black haired kid smiled happily and started getting in between everything. "Hi, my name is Wang Sheng, and I'm the boss of this dormitory. We have a rule in this dormitory so when new students come, they will have to fight the boss for his title."
While Wang Sheng was talking, Chao's eyes never left the new kid. Chao was sure that he was not in the story he had read, so there were two options. The butterfly effect has already started working, or he was a traverser like him.
Based on the way the kid was looking at him he could assume that he was also a traverser. The kid and Chao kept staring at each other. It looked like they would start a fight at any time, when Wang sheng got in between them.
He got closer to the purple haired kid to explain the rules he had to follow. "Since you are the boss now, you should fight him to decide whether he is going to take your title."
Chao raised his hands up to explain, "I concede, I don't want to fight. He can be the boss." Chao walked in to take a look at the beds, when he felt a kick on his back.
Chao got sent flying to the other side of the room, but he was able to adjust his position in the air to land on his feet. He quickly straightened himself up, and activated his martial spirit. Most of the kids were frozen after seeing Chao's martial spirit.
The whole dormitory has succumbed to the silence as the purple haired kid activated his martial spirit. His martial spirit was a Griffin. It clearly had the fire characteristics as it's claws had flames.
On a first glance, the Griffin looked to be much more intimidating than the overgrown, fat snake with legs. But the purple haired kid seemed to be cautious. Both Chao and the purple haired kid kept staring at each other, not daring to make a single move.
After a few seconds of staring, the Griffin attacked, and the flames on it's claws burned brighter. The Hydra behind Chao reacted similarly. The saliva that was dropping to the floor became acidic and melted through it.
The Hydra and the Griffin clashed as Chao and the kid threw punches at each other. It quickly became clear that Chao's reflexes were on a higher level, while the purple haired kid was a lot stronger.
The purple haired kid kept throwing punches at Chao, but none of them were landing, while Chao was hitting him all the time, but it barely affected the purple haired kid.
The kid threw lot of faints, but it didn't matter, as he wasn't fast enough. At some point he even gave up on defense and let Chao hit him, but he was still not able to land a clear hit on Chao.
If Chao caught a punch directly, he would get pushed back, but Chao was able to react to the other kid's punches pretty easily. They kept fighting for a while, and it was becoming clear that the more they fought, the more advantage Chao gained.
Chao kept hitting him, which in turn made the kid slower. Blood started flowing from every part of his body, but he still didn't stop. It was like his only reason to live was to kill Chao.
Chao quickly noticed the situation and stopped hitting the purple haired kid. This seemed to make him angrier as he became more aggressive. For Chao, the whole situation was insane.
Blood kept flowing from the kid's face, but it seemed like whatever happened, he could not stop. Chao was able to push the kid far away from him to put some distance between them. Chao made a hand sign for a truce while speaking english, which made the kid freeze.
"Do you speak English? Let's do a timeout and talk this out. It's not like we have to kill each other."
