Chapter 170: Chapter 169: Mu Jin's Shock – So This is the Real Zhou Yi
While Qian Ran enjoyed his relaxed life, eagerly anticipating the pleasures of his future, Dai Huabin, defeated and humiliated, went to find Mu Jin.
Among the four first-year classes, Class One was the strongest, specializing in training control and assault-type battle soul masters. If Class One rejected him, where could he go? His only option was Class Two.
But Class Two focused on defense and agility-type soul masters. What could he possibly learn there? Worse yet, it was utterly humiliating. As the Duke of White Tiger's son, being dismissed from his class was a severe blow. If it weren't for his status as a core disciple, he'd already be packing his bags. His fists clenched tightly with anger.
Zhou Yi's favoritism was infuriating. It was Qian Ran who had provoked him maliciously, yet she only expelled him.
And Qian Ran?
What a fine "teacher" indeed.
When Dai Huabin found Mu Jin, he immediately poured out all the details of how Zhou Yi had treated him.
Mu Jin's initial reaction was disbelief. Zhou Yi, despite their differences, had always struck her as having integrity. Could she really be involved with a student like Qian Ran? It seemed absurd.
But seeing Dai Huabin's seething expression, she began to waver.
Thinking back, Mu Jin remembered Zhou Yi wearing nude stockings when she took Dai Huabin and Qian Ran out of the arena. However, when she returned, Zhou Yi was wearing black stockings.
If Dai Huabin hadn't brought it up, she wouldn't have noticed the detail.
Now, the pieces were falling into place.
What exactly had Zhou Yi been up to during that time? Why had she even changed stockings? Could it be that Qian Ran had torn them?
To think that Zhou Yi, usually so upright, could have such a scandalous side.
"Zhou Yi, Zhou Yi, you'd better not actually be doing this, or I'll make sure everyone knows," Mu Jin muttered.
The news was shocking. Aside from gaining an exceptionally talented student, she had stumbled upon a scandalous secret.
If this was true, she would see to it that Zhou Yi's reputation was shattered, and Fang Yu would come to understand the mistake he had made in choosing Zhou Yi.
…
In the days that followed, Qian Ran split his time between Xian Lin'er's house and his own.
During the day, he visited Xian Lin'er's place to receive training from Qian Duoduo. In the afternoons, he'd return to guide Bing Di in crafting soul tools, spend time with the girls, and oversee the construction of his estate.
Zhou Yi would frequently summon him to her office under the pretense of "study sessions."
Qian Ran was enjoying his life thoroughly. Few other travelers across dimensions could boast such a comfortable existence.
Douluo Dalu might be known for its low power levels compared to other fantasy realms, but he was here to enjoy life, not to suffer. And this life suited him perfectly.
What's more, even with all his leisure, his cultivation continued to progress.
If he had to spend all his time training, he wouldn't have time to enjoy the company of his girls.
While Qian Ran could enjoy a leisurely progression, the others had to train hard. After a while, the girls focused on their cultivation, and the lively atmosphere in the villa began to fade. Tang Ya and Jiang Nannan mostly stayed in the academy dorms, only occasionally visiting. Zhang Lexuan was even busier, often secluding herself in extended training sessions as a Soul Douluo.
Wang Dong'er and Xiao Xiao, feeling the growing gap between them and Qian Ran, stopped joining him on leisurely outings. They were acutely aware that while Qian Ran's strength continued to grow even as he played, their own cultivation lagged when they took it easy. Given the resources Qian Ran had provided them, they were determined to work hard and not let him down.
They knew that only by growing stronger could they remain by his side in the long term, not just as momentary companions.
With the girls returning to their training, Qian Ran felt a weight lifted.
Managing so many relationships was exhausting, and with the girls so busy, he finally had time to breathe.
Just as well, as his soul tool research had reached a stopping point. At his current rank of Soul Elder, he could only barely craft Level Six soul tools, and Level Seven tools were a stretch even if he had the skill. For now, he found the study of soul tools tedious and only visited Xian Lin'er's house when he specifically wanted to see her.
Bing Di, having spent a period in focused cultivation, had regained her full strength.
In her human form, she sported two yellow, one purple, two black, and four red soul rings, a remarkable configuration. Thanks to her transformation, she'd managed to avoid the tribulation and was now a formidable 400,000-year-old beast.
Qian Ran estimated that Bing Di, with her extreme attributes, possessed a Soul Power level of 98. She could even face Mu En without fear.
Extreme attributes were incredibly rare, even more so than twin martial souls.
According to Bing Di, although she was now in human form, she remained a soul beast at her core and could still only advance in strength as her soul beast cultivation progressed. Reaching the pinnacle of level 99 would likely require her cultivation to reach 500,000 years.
For Bing Di, as long as she avoided unnecessary risks, she had a long life ahead.
After regaining her power, Bing Di no longer let Qian Ran take advantage of her, a fact he somewhat regretted. If only Mu En hadn't been such a stickler for rules, he wouldn't have had to rush Bing Di's progress. Just thinking about the meek and timid Bing Di of the past made him feel nostalgic.
Inside the villa, Bing Di had her own lab.
"Finally finished! These human soul tools aren't so complicated after all," Bing Di declared proudly after crafting her first Level Six soul tool.
Though she hadn't been working with soul tools for long, she was catching on quickly.
Low-level soul tools weren't all that complicated, and given Bing Di's abilities, she'd made rapid progress.
Level Seven and above, however, would be a different challenge.
"Amazing," Qian Ran said, though he was mostly humoring her. With her strength, studying low-level soul tools was practically child's play.
"Fake praise! I'll surpass you soon and become a Level Seven Soul Engineer," Bing Di said with a slight pout, dissatisfied with his lackluster response.
"If you're that talented, why not join our Soul Tool Department? We're in discussions with the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy, and in a few years, a group of us will be going there to study. I'll probably be going, too." Qian Ran mused aloud. If Bing Di came along, he'd have a powerful bodyguard by his side. Additionally, she could study advanced soul tool techniques there; after all, Shrek Academy's program only went up to Level Eight.
Bing Di's interest would fade if she only became an ordinary Level Nine Soul Engineer, so advanced training would be necessary.
"Alright," Bing Di agreed readily. Before regaining her strength, she'd stayed within the villa, never venturing out. Now, with her power fully restored, she was confident that no one could detain her if she chose to leave.
Her quick agreement was mostly because she'd heard Qian Ran would also be going to the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy.
