Douluo: Becoming a God by Relying on my Enemies

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: "Tang San, Were You Really That Worried About Us?"

Ah Yin's voice brimmed with longing as she pleaded, "Please… let me hug him, just once."

Yun Feng was initially reluctant, but hearing the desperation in her tone piqued his curiosity. Instead of immediately agreeing, he smirked slyly in his mind and teased, "Alright, but you can't back out later, no matter what I ask for."

Ah Yin froze momentarily, her translucent figure trembling as a faint blush spread across her cheeks. Tears streamed down her face as she nodded in agreement. Her longing for her son outweighed her embarrassment or shame.

In recent times, Ah Yin had noticed an unsettling dependence on Yun Feng. Sharing his perspective and existing as a part of his mental space, she couldn't resist his requests. The prospect of being close to her son, even vicariously through Yun Feng's body, overwhelmed her.

"Ah Hao… I just want to hold our son. You wouldn't blame me, would you? I know you're not petty. I simply want to embrace him, even if I can't truly feel it. Just to catch his scent…"

Murmuring these thoughts to herself, Ah Yin let go of her reservations.

Tang San rushed toward Xiao Wu with unrestrained excitement, tears glistening in his eyes. Xiao Wu, however, dodged nimbly, unwilling to be hugged. Yun Feng, on the other hand, followed through on his promise to Ah Yin. Stepping in front of Xiao Wu, he opened his arms and enveloped Tang San in a firm embrace.

"You must've been worried," Yun Feng said warmly, his voice resonating not just in Tang San's ears but in everyone's hearts.

Seeing this display, the group couldn't help but smile. Such genuine camaraderie was enviable.

Yun Feng barely suppressed a chuckle as he noted their expressions. True friendship, indeed! he mused inwardly. For him, this was nothing more than a performance for Ah Yin's sake.

Ah Yin, within Yun Feng's mental space, was overwhelmed. Being so close to her son, she instinctively tried to reach out but was met with the cruel reality of her current state—an incorporeal soul with no sense of touch. Even this embrace was nothing but a psychological comfort for her.

Yun Feng quickly ended the hug, finding it slightly uncomfortable. Releasing Tang San, he smiled and teased, "Tang San, were you really that worried about us?"

Tang San wiped the tears from his eyes, his lips twitching as if to retort. But when he glanced at Xiao Wu, his expression softened. After a moment, he said reluctantly, "Of course. You're my best friend, after all."

Before the conversation could continue, two voices filled with relief and joy broke through the forest.

"Yi Ran!"

"Yi Ran, thank goodness you're safe!"

Meng Shu and Chao Tianxiang, followed by Qin Ming and others, emerged from the woods. Seeing their granddaughter alive and well, the elderly couple sighed in relief, their faces wet with tears of gratitude. Meng Shu and Chao Tianxiang embraced their granddaughter tightly, their emotions pouring out.

Chao Tianxiang turned to Zhao Wuji with curiosity and asked, "Zhao Wuji, how did you manage to save them? That was a Titan Giant Ape!"

Zhao Wuji shook his head and replied, "I didn't. They came back on their own."

The couple was visibly shocked. Meng Shu's eyes widened in disbelief. "They survived the Titan Giant Ape?" he muttered, unable to comprehend. Such tales were unheard of. Everyone who had encountered a Titan Giant Ape had either perished or barely escaped with their lives.

Meng Shu immediately asked his granddaughter, "Yi Ran, how did you all escape?"

Under everyone's gaze, Meng Yi Ran looked toward Yun Feng and Xiao Wu before explaining, "After we were captured, the Titan Giant Ape ran for a long time before roaring and knocking us unconscious. Yun Feng and Xiao Wu were the first to wake up. If you want details, you should ask them."

She carefully avoided revealing the truth about Xiao Wu's connection to the Titan Giant Ape, sticking to the story they had planned beforehand.

Xiao Wu, following the agreed narrative, added, "When I woke up, I wasn't with Yun Feng and the others. I found myself alone in another area. By the time I regained consciousness, the Titan Giant Ape was gone."

She described the aftermath vividly, mentioning the sight of dozens of soul beasts incapacitated by the Titan Giant Ape's roar, some even bleeding from their noses and mouths. "We're lucky, really. If those beasts had recovered first, we wouldn't have stood a chance," she concluded.

Her account was so surreal it left the group stunned. Meng Shu and Chao Tianxiang exchanged bewildered glances, struggling to process the events.

Finally, Meng Yi Ran nodded in agreement as her grandparents whispered further instructions to her. She understood they were only looking out for her well-being.

Just as the tension seemed to ease, Yun Feng casually dropped another bombshell. "Oh, and while I was wandering around, I found a suitable ten-thousand-year soul beast that had fainted. I figured it was the perfect opportunity and obtained my fourth spirit ring from it."

Oscar's jaw practically hit the floor. The absurdity of Yun Feng's luck left him speechless, his face a picture of disbelief. Is this even humanly possible?

The rest of the group shared similar reactions. Their envy was palpable. Compared to their painstaking efforts for mediocre results, Yun Feng's encounter sounded like a dream.

Xiao Wu, sticking to the narrative, continued with her account. "I thought I was doomed. To avoid being attacked by the awakening soul beasts, I had no choice but to kill the incapacitated ones around me. Once I recovered my strength, I retraced my steps and eventually found Yun Feng and the others."

Her explanation was riddled with improbabilities, but given her survival, no one dared question her further. Despite its absurdity, they chose to believe her.

After some more conversation, Meng Shu decisively declared, "The Star Dou Forest is too dangerous. Let's leave and talk about everything once we're safely back."
