Doraemon: Reborn As Dekisugi

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Sketching Class【Part 3】

Honekawa Suneo looked at Nobita with curiosity and anticipation, covering his mouth and laughing twice.

Suneo's goal was to show off to Nobita that he had watched the latest issue of The Lion Mask.

Now that he had achieved his goal, he didn't need to say much, but seeing Nobita looking at him with such anticipation, Suneo thought it would be fun to keep teasing him.

"Nobita, you want to hear it, but I've forgotten what to do. What a shame," Suneo said with a sly grin.

Nobita felt like he had been hit hard, and, after years of dealing with Suneo's bragging, he immediately reacted with frustration, shouting, "Suneo! You're just showing off! You nasty jerk!"

"Oh, Nobita, it's strange that you're reacting like this," Suneo teased with a childish grin.

But showing off like this wasn't always a good idea. Before Suneo could continue, a powerful arm wrapped around his neck. It was Takeshi Gouda, who, despite being as weak as Nobita in most things, was strong in this one aspect.

Chu Mushan, observing the situation with amusement, spoke directly as they reached the back mountain.

"Well, I bought the latest issue of The Lion Mask yesterday to see how the seniors draw manga. Do you want to read it?"

"I've seen it already. I bought things like that a long time ago. Let me tell you, my family is..." Suneo said nonchalantly, holding his head arrogantly. Suneo was the epitome of showing off, though it didn't always work out the way he hoped.

"Oh, Suneo and I are good friends! He'll lend it to me after school," Jaian said, stretching his thick arms around Suneo's neck. "Suneo, my close friend, don't you think so?"

Jaian flashed Suneo a look that could melt steel.

Naturally, Jaian's flattery was on point.

Even though Suneo was showing off to Nobita, Jaian—who was almost as strong as Nobita—wasn't all that impressed.

So, many of Suneo's things ended up in Jaian's hands.

Nobita, meanwhile, was looking at Dekisugi, who had the latest Lion Mask manga, his eyes filled with excitement.

Dekisugi had never deceived Nobita, so there was always a sense of genuine anticipation.

This was why Nobita could become childhood best friends with Jaian and Suneo, who often bullied him, but couldn't form the same bond with Dekisugi, who never bullied him and occasionally helped him…

Because when things were good, he'd forget everything else.

But Dekisugi, eager to visit Nobita's house and, of course, meet the legendary Doraemon, smiled and said to Nobita, "Well, Nobita, I'll send the manga to your house after school this afternoon. You'll be home, right?"

Before Nobita could respond, Dekisugi patted his head and turned to Shizuka, who was watching from the side.

"Shizuka, why don't we go to Nobita's house to do homework today?" Dekisugi said, almost forgetting that he had promised to do homework with Shizuka.

Shizuka, who had been somewhat reluctant to go to Nobita's house, immediately brightened and smiled at Dekisugi.

"Really? Shizuka is coming to my house to do homework? That's great!" Nobita was thrilled. Usually, Shizuka didn't come to his house for homework due to his poor study habits, so this time, it felt like Dekisugi was doing him a huge favor. Nobita was completely oblivious to the implications.

When he learned that Shizuka was going to his house, he muttered under his breath.

"Since Shizuka is coming to my house, I guess it's fine for Dekisugi to send the comics tomorrow..." His voice was so low that only Dekisugi heard it, and for a moment, Dekisugi was left speechless, his thoughts muddled.

At that moment, the group came to a halt, and they had reached the mountainside of the back mountain. The teacher clapped his hands to get their attention.

"Alright, students, we're here for the activity. Don't wander off, and make sure you stay in sight of the teacher. You can start drawing now!"

Everyone responded, then split into small groups to find spots and sit down.

Naturally, Dekisugi, Shizuka, and Nobita formed their own group.

However, apart from Dekisugi and Shizuka, the others weren't really interested in drawing.

They were just going through the motions.

In fact, Dekisugi was still thinking about what kind of manga he should draw.

Something too mature wouldn't be appropriate.

"Hey, let me sleep first. Call me when you're done drawing," Nobita said as he found a soft patch of grass to lie on and doze off.

Jaian sat with Suneo, discussing the fun and interesting games they'd been playing.

However, Dekisugi found all the games of that era boring. The most exciting adventures, for him, were with Doraemon.

After all, the simple manga drawing he was doing was the result of three years of hard work for Dekisugi, and the results were impressive.

The brush moved gracefully in Dekisugi's hands, like a dancing elf, as he created the surrounding scenes in mere minutes.

Nobita, Jaian, and Suneo—who had been chatting or napping—along with Shizuka, who was sitting next to Dekisugi, watching him draw, were all amazed. Even Dekisugi himself was in awe of the magical realism in his artwork.

It was clear that, for elementary school students, very few could match Dekisugi's skills. Shizuka, who had been quietly watching, covered her mouth in surprise. When Dekisugi finished, she exclaimed excitedly.

"Wow, Dekisugi, you draw so well! That's amazing!"

Jaian, Suneo, and Nobita rushed over when they heard Shizuka's exclamation and marveled at the artwork.

"How did you do it, Dekisugi?! It looks almost like a photo!" Jaian and Suneo showered him with compliments. Dekisugi smiled, scratching his head, and replied modestly.

"It's too exaggerated; I'm just getting started."
