Chapter 2: Purchase Stations, Gain Hideouts, and Weapons
As Roger's voice fell:
[Doomsday Game, Monopoly Beta Plug-in Successfully Bound.]
[You can roll the dice once per day. Current rolls available: 1]
[Note: This version is a beta. After survivors endure the first round of the doomsday disaster, it will upgrade to the official version.]
Suddenly, a dice the size of a fist appeared in front of Roger, along with a Monopoly map. The map resembled a miniature version of a city, with various blocks and events scattered across it. A mini version of Roger stood at the starting point, labeled as [Convenience Store].
Just like in the Super Monopoly game, he could roll the dice to advance to the corresponding spaces and obtain rewards.
Roger's thoughts triggered the dice to start bouncing in the void, landing on a number:
[3]
The mini Roger on the Monopoly map jumped three spaces forward, stopping at a space marked with a station icon.
[Would you like to spend 250 points to purchase the Garden Subway Station?]
Roger noticed that his starting capital was displayed on the interface, showing a total of 500 points.
"Now I have 500 points," he thought.
Not fully understanding the significance of the station but realizing the game involved investment, Roger made a quick decision:
"Buy the station!"
[250 points have been spent to buy the Garden Subway Station.]
Instantly, a detailed 3D virtual map of the subway station appeared in Roger's mind, highlighting rooms and item locations.
Stunned, Roger's face lit up with joy.
"This is the material information of the station! I hit the jackpot!"
Roger's excitement grew. In a doomsday scenario, materials were the most valuable resources. With this information, he could efficiently gather materials, knowing their exact locations.
The 3D map even displayed the movement of several small green dots, which Roger identified as rats scurrying around the station.
"Does this mean..."
An idea sparked in Roger's mind. In the future, any enemies entering the station would be under his surveillance—an invaluable advantage.
Roger quickly examined the station's information and found a highly concealed room.
"This spot is perfect for a hideout!"
Hidden, spacious, and stocked with supplies, it was ideal. Without hesitation, Roger left the convenience store and cautiously made his way to the subway station. Fortunately, it was only about 200 meters away.
Checking the empty streets, he sprinted to the subway entrance.
Along the way, faint gunshots and explosions echoed in the distance. Roger hurried down the subway passage, following his mental map to the concealed room.
The subway passage was dimly lit, chaotic, with signs of destruction everywhere. However, the marble floor was relatively clean, as if civilization had recently crumbled.
Finally, Roger reached a hidden iron door. Confirming no immediate danger, he opened the door, revealing a narrow, dimly lit stairway leading downward. He found a light switch, turned it on, and illuminated the space—a surveillance room shaped like an "L."
Roger activated the game's [Hideout] page, now illuminated.
[Do you want to select this location as your hideout?]
[Note: Once selected, the hideout cannot be changed!]
"Confirm!"
With Roger's confirmation, the game's hideout transformation began:
1%... 5%... 18%... 34%... 100%
[The hideout has been successfully established!]
The hideout details appeared on Roger's panel:
---
[Hideout]
Owner: Roger
Current Facilities: Rest Area, Security Gate
Available Facilities: None
Area: 82 square meters
---
Roger examined the two existing facilities:
[Rest Area]
Effect: Restores 80% stamina after 8 hours of sleep, reduces fullness by 40%, and hydration by 30%.
Next Upgrade: 5,000 Doomsday Coins, Blanket ×1, Matches ×1 (Upgrade Time: 30 minutes).
[Security Gate]
Effect: Prevents animal intrusion.
Next Upgrade: 25,000 Doomsday Coins, Anti-Theft Lock ×1, Tape Measure ×1 (Upgrade Time: 30 minutes).
At the bottom of the page, other buildable facilities were listed, all grayed out due to insufficient materials.
Roger realized the critical importance of gathering materials to upgrade his hideout. With his hideout now established, he felt better equipped than many other players.
His gaze shifted to the surveillance station, the potential source of additional supplies.
Walking to the station, Roger noticed three blacked-out computer screens and a security uniform draped over a chair. He searched the uniform and was surprised to feel a hard object.
Stunned, Roger pulled out a pistol and its holster. Information about the weapon appeared:
