Chapter 10
Jagun hacked through the advancing raid members. Without clashing blades, he precisely struck down each opponent. It was the killing sword refined through real combat.
“Being strong really feels great, doesn’t it? You can crush those weaker than you!”
Drenched in blood, Jagun laughed, his shoulders shaking. Justice, law, order. Such things do not exist in this world. Only strength and violence matter. Strength is justice, and justice is strength.
Without strength, nothing can be enforced. No matter how noble the system or society appears, its foundation is always violence. A society is made by stronger violence pressing down on the weak—that is the true nature of the world.
Would people maintain order without the military and police in the outside world?
Absolutely not. Jagun knew this truth more deeply than anyone. Without strength, a person has nothing. Violence is the root that fulfills human desires.
‘That’s why I must become stronger.’
The thrill of power coursed through Jagun’s spine.
Thump-thump.
Jagun heard the sound of his own heartbeat. He was intoxicated by excitement and pleasure. His pupils gleamed wickedly.
“Ahh, this feels amazing. Cry before the strong, weaklings!”
Slaaash!
Jagun swung the Chamado once more.
‘What’s happening? Am I dreaming?’
The raid leader couldn’t comprehend the situation. He was on the verge of cognitive dissonance. He couldn’t understand how Jagun was easily cutting down level 30 raid members.
“I don’t think you’re bad. What’s so wrong about the strong taking from the weak? Don’t you agree?”
Jagun walked up to the raid leader. The raid leader, face stricken with fear, readied his stance. His hand trembled as he held his sword.
“Shut up! What kind of trick are you pulling? Damn it!”
The raid leader shouted frantically. Jagun walked towards him, sword lowered. The raid leader couldn’t bring himself to attack first. He had seen the fate of his comrades who had been cut down.
‘Defend, focus on defense. Attacking first will get me killed.’
The raid leader took a defensive stance. That was the moment. Jagun ignored the raid leader and dashed forward. He headed for the support team in the rear.
“He’s coming!”
The raid leader realized his mistake. His role was to prevent Jagun from reaching the support team. Even the warrior types couldn’t withstand Jagun’s sword. The members at the rear had no chance against him.
“Idiot.”
Jagun sneered as he brushed past the raid leader. The real threat to Jagun was the support team. Their combined firepower from mages and archers was formidable and potentially fatal if even one hit landed.
Bang!
Jagun raised the Chamado horizontally. With his eyes, he read the trajectory of arrows and spells, deflecting them with his blade.
“Die!”
“You’re the one who’s going to die, fool.”
Jagun casually swung his sword. An archer fell, cleaved apart. Nearby, a mage was casting a Fireball.
“Hmph.”
Jagun grabbed the fallen archer’s corpse, using it as a shield against the spell. The smell of burning flesh filled the air.
“Quite potent. Nicely roasted.”
Crunch.
Jagun took a bite from the charred archer’s cheek. Blood oozed from between his teeth. His eyes gleamed savagely as they locked onto the mage.
“Ptooey!”
Jagun spat out the flesh and threw a borrowed arrow from the archer’s quiver.
Thud!
The arrow darted like a spear and embedded itself in the mage’s shoulder. The mage, who had been casting, trembled in panic. Jagun didn’t waste the opportunity and swung his blade.
“You’re weak too. Die.”
Slice!
He cleaved the mage’s torso from top to bottom. The mage coughed up blood, staring at his own severed lower half. His entrails spilled onto the ground.
Splat.
Jagun flicked the guts off his blade. Only the raid leader remained.
“U-uh. Aaaah!”
The raid leader stumbled backward. All his comrades were dead. They had been utterly helpless against Jagun.
“Why? We’re higher level! We have more numbers!”
Jagun twirled the Chamado.
“Kneel, you fool.”
Whack.
Jagun slapped the raid leader’s face. The leader fiercely gripped his sword and raised it high.
-Jagun chuckled and tossed the Chamado aside. Grabbing the raid leader’s raised arm, he twisted it.
Crack!
The raid leader’s right arm snapped backward at the joint.
“Gah, argh!”
Jagun kicked the raid leader’s knee, forcing him to kneel.
“Idiot. Who raises their sword that high right in front of the enemy? You’re practically begging to be killed.”
Jagun’s beating began. Jagun relentlessly pummeled the raid leader using his fists and feet.
“Ugh, aaaargh! Please, spare me.”
Jagun’s eyes were filled with ecstasy. There was no guilt or hesitation.
“If you lay your hands on my property.”
Thunk.
He grabbed the back of the leader’s neck and smashed his face into a rock.
“You should be ready.”
Crack!
He then kicked the already broken arm.
“For the consequences.”
Crunch!
He landed a kick on the leader’s jaw.
“You should know that!”
Jagun gasped for breath and adjusted his clothes.
He sat on the corpse, eyeing the raid leader.
“Hey! Big Bo! Collect the dropped items.”
Jagun called out to Big Bo, who was trembling in the corner.
Big Bo looked at Jagun with a face drenched in tears and snot.
“T-This is too much, leader. You didn’t have to… kill him.”
“Would it be better if I died? Huh? Idiot, it’s kill or be killed. That’s what fighting is about. If you don’t kill, the loser will someday come back to take revenge on the winner. Just like I did.”
Jagun wiped the blood and laughed. His eyes swirled with madness.
“Please, just spare me. I will do anything. Please…”
Thud! Thud!
The raid leader banged his head on the floor, begging. It seemed he wasn’t feeling the pain of his broken arm.
“Sorry, but no. No matter what you say here, you’ll eventually seek revenge on me.”
“I swear, I would never… seek revenge on you…”
Jagun covered the raid leader’s mouth with his hand. Jagun’s eyes stared into the leader’s.
“No, no. I don’t believe that. Humans lie to survive.”
Sling.
Jagun drew a dagger and slashed the leader’s throat. The raid leader collapsed without even a groan. He felt death approaching with convulsions. His eyes, filled with resentment, looked at Jagun.
“Why…”
Big Bo muttered as he witnessed the gruesome sight.
Jagun patted Big Bo’s shoulder. Big Bo flinched and tightly shut his eyes.
“Big Bo, this is how you avenge.”
Jagun’s voice was surprisingly calm. He took out a cigarette with his blood-stained hand and lit it. The madness in his eyes had disappeared.
“I never wanted this kind of revenge, boss.”
Big Bo spoke, bracing himself for a hit. Jagun exhaled a long puff of smoke instead of throwing a punch.
“… Become a sheep or a wolf. Choose, bigbo. There is no such thing as a good wolf.”
Jagun’s words were as gentle as if he were admonishing a younger sibling. Big Bo fell into an indescribable confusion. He stopped thinking and started rummaging through the corpses for items.
Thick tears continued to stream down his face. He gagged several times at the sight of the corpses.
‘I wanted revenge, but… not like this. However…’
Big Bo felt conflicting emotions of exhilaration and disgust. He was surprised at a part of himself that felt exhilarated. Jagun quietly watched Big Bo.
He smoked an entire pack of cigarettes on the spot.
一You have pleased me! Shin Jagun!
The voice of Isaac, the God of Chaos, echoed loudly. Big Bo heard the voice as well.
“Ha, what a bonafide evil god.”
Jagun sneered.
一I hope to see more of such sights in the future.
“Yeah, right. What a load of crap.”
Jagun prepared for an electric shock. But the shock did not come. Isaac’s mirror fell to the ground.
Clatter.
The mirror shattered. The curse binding Jagun was broken.
一Today I am exceedingly generous. If you have a wish, speak, my servant.
“Just give me back my original body, you bastard. Who asked you to swap bodies anyway?”
Jagun lowered his voice so Big Bo couldn’t hear.
一That is impossible. Having your original body would make everything mundane, including your revenge.
Jagun frowned.
He knew.
The nature of gods.
This world is merely a stage for gods.
一Very well, I shall grant you a special class change. At level 21, it’s about time to decide on your class. I shall give you a unique class!
Shin Jagun’s eyes widened. If he changed his class now, it was obvious he would become a warrior class. There was a high chance he would become a swordsman. At worst, a berserker or barbarian. Jagun had deliberately fought using combat methods suitable for a warrior.
“Wait, hold on a second!”
一Receive the blessing of this body, human!
Isaac shouted. Jagun’s body was engulfed in darkness. Black smoke rose as if burning trash.
“You damned bastard-!!”
Jagun screamed. His rage-filled voice echoed throughout the boss room. Jagun recognized his new class.
「Chaos Walker」
Jagun’s condensed combat skills were only suited for the warrior class.
‘Chaos Walker’ belonged to the mage class.
“Isaac-!!”
Jagun called out with bloodshot eyes. There was no response. Big Bo stood in the corner with a frightened face.
