Chapter 220: [220] Episode 5 · Paradox Spiral! (18)

Chapter 220: Episode 5 · Paradox Spiral! (18)

A brief flashback revealed the past of Souren Araya, shedding light on his actions and hinting at some underlying purpose.

However, the current information remained unclear, leaving most people unable to comprehend the reasons behind Souren's actions.

Before anyone could ponder further, the scene shifted once again. Aozaki Touko had finally stepped into Ogawa Apartments.

"I'm surprised. You're quite impatient, aren't you?"

Alba's voice slowly echoed through the room.

Faced with this unpleasant individual, Touko coldly threw her bag onto the ground with a resounding "thud" and said icily:

"The materialization of the Taiji Diagram isn't your idea, is it? Enough games. Call out Souren. You're way out of your league here, and what's about to happen won't benefit you at all!"

After speaking, Touko began to survey her surroundings, completely ignoring the red mage she should have been paying attention to, as if searching for a non-existent opponent.

This infuriated Alba, who immediately prepared to show off his strength and teach her a lesson.

In response, Touko simply kicked her bag on the floor forcefully with the tip of her foot.

"Come out—"

As her words fell, the box opened, and an incredible gust of wind erupted out of nowhere, sweeping through the scene.

A terrifying black cat, larger than a human, appeared beside Touko.

"What?!"

Not understanding what was happening, Alba swallowed nervously.

"The rumors said your familiar was defeated by your sister. Was that a lie?"

"Who knows?" Touko replied indifferently.

The giant black cat at her feet immediately dashed forward.

Snap!

In the blink of an eye, Alba was swallowed whole by the black cat's massive maw, losing consciousness instantly.

...

The battle ended so quickly that many viewers were left stunned, unable to process what had just occurred.

No one had expected the seemingly menacing mage Alba to be effortlessly taken down by Aozaki Touko in a single move.

What shocked everyone even more was the display of Touko's abilities.

The ghost-like black cat was utterly beyond anyone's imagination.

Who would have thought she possessed such a formidable tool in her arsenal?

"What kind of familiar is that?"

Watching the scene unfold, even Arcueid couldn't help but ask. After all, this creature was an unknown entity to her as well.

Durin sighed and replied thoughtfully, "I'm not sure. This thing was provided by an important member of the production team. I initially thought it might be a revenant or a magical beast, but it doesn't seem to fit either description."

"I see..."

Arcueid frowned slightly.

As a True Ancestor vampire, her instincts hinted at the creature's conceptual nature, but she couldn't pinpoint its exact origin.

On the other hand, Durin hesitated over whether to mention Laetitia.

While it was true that this eerie black cat had been summoned through a ritual by Laetitia, her identity was sensitive, to say the least.

After all, one of them was a centuries-old True Ancestor vampire, while the other was an immortal lich who had few equals even in the realm of chaos.

If the two were to meet, who knew what kind of uncontrollable disaster might occur?

In the end, Durin decided against revealing the truth. He resolved to first consult Laetitia about the situation before making any further decisions.

...

At the same time, Aozaki Touko's performance left a deep impression on the audience in the southern regions.

Most people were completely unprepared for such an outcome.

However, the ones most shaken were the mages of the Imperial Mage Academy.

"What the hell is that thing? Is Touko Aozaki actually a summoner?"

"Summoner? Don't confuse TV with reality! Besides, there's no record of a summoning creature resembling that bizarre black cat in real life, is there?"

"That's right. Just looking at that black cat gives me the chills. It makes me uneasy for no apparent reason."

"Huh? Really? I think it looks pretty cute when it's not in its giant, creepy form."

"Uh… You might need to get checked out if you can say something like that!"

"That's just how necromancy students are. Don't take her too seriously."

"…"

The students' chatter filled the halls, with most mages instinctively feeling an overwhelming fear toward the black cat on the screen.

Only a few necromancy students seemed unaffected.

However, the lack of reaction from the necromancy students only further confirmed that something was indeed wrong with this black cat.

Meanwhile, at the top of the Alchemy Tower:

"Goodness, first there was an eldritch entity in Fate/Zero, and now a chaos being? Durin really has some remarkable connections," said Dean Hohenheim.

His statement elicited surprise from the other Archmages. Even they, with their vast knowledge, seemed unable to identify the peculiar creature.

To this, Hohenheim simply remarked:

"Neither corporeal nor purely spiritual, existing between the concepts of life and death. Such entities can only come from the realm of chaos. Aren't there records of these in the Grand Library?"

"Uh, there are way too many books in there. No one would normally read through all of them, right?"

"...I see."

Realizing that he was the only one who diligently studied the library's collection, Dean Hohenheim couldn't help but feel a pang of helplessness.

Meanwhile, the other Archmages, upon learning that the black cat was a chaos being, couldn't resist breaking into discussions. Their curiosity was evident, as such creatures, which should only exist in the realm of chaos, were utterly fascinating to them.

...

The story continued to unfold. After Aozaki Touko effortlessly defeated Alba, Souren Araya finally arrived at the scene and rescued Alba from the black cat's grasp.

Following a brief exchange, the two immediately engaged in a fierce battle.

Faced with Touko's peculiar familiar, Araya swiftly eliminated it using a stationary barrier and delivered a devastating punch, leaving Touko severely injured.

It was at this moment that Touko realized the entire Ogawa Apartments complex was Araya's barrier.

Furthermore, he had fused the barrier with his own body, meaning the building itself was an extension of his physical form.

This ability, in Touko's eyes, was almost indistinguishable from true magic, as it allowed Araya to exert absolute control over everything within the barrier.

Just as Souren Araya declared his easy victory, Aozaki Touko suddenly spoke:

"Araya, do you know the three conditions that make something truly terrifying? First, a monster that attacks humans must not be able to speak. Second, the monster must be so enigmatic that its true form cannot be discerned. Third, the monster must not be able to die."

As her words fell, the black cat, which was supposed to be dead, reappeared out of nowhere. In one swift motion, it sank its fangs into Araya's body, tearing it apart and leaving a gruesome display of blood and carnage.
