Chapter 326: More Curse Matters.
Kelvin was in the core of the world. He was sitting on top of the Tower of Destiny, relaxing after destroying the blood hooks.
He had complained about Lady Dimitri causing trouble for him. Then he put the matter out of his mind.
His mind was focused on looking through the eyes of his shadows. He had sent them to do many things.
He was briefly distracted by the video of what appeared to be a fight between demigods that had appeared on the internet.
Someone on a cruise ship had seen two entities fighting above the ocean. They had recorded the video and posted it online.
Both of the fighters couldn't be seen. One of them was hazy while the other was a blur.
The hazy one looked as if it was glitching. The only notable thing about them was that ice was swirling around them.
The other blurred fighter had helpers. These helpers helped to resist the fighter who was controlling ice.
Some of these helpers died. But three of them stood their ground in the fight. Eventually, there was an explosion between them.
This explosion created a snowstorm that obscured the two fighters. But then another explosion happened as a bright comet entered the scene.
This comet was so bright that it damaged the camera of the phone. That was the end of the video.
The video became very popular quickly. Many people watched it and discussed it.
He saw the video through one of his shadows. He wouldn't have identified any of the fighters if he hadn't seen the one helper that held back the demigod in control of ice.
That helper was the same puppet who crushed his hand. There was no way he would forget that puppet. So he was able to identify the blurred figure was Icon.
He snickered and said, "Look at him hiding his identity, but he couldn't hide the identity of his puppets. It looks like he is in trouble. Serves him right."
He was happy that Icon was being bounded by a demigod. It meant that Icon wouldn't be able to bother him so much.
He was wrong about that. He was so wrong that the curse chose that time to strike him.
He didn't know that it was a curse. All he felt was intense pain as his body began to break apart. His body was flaking away into dust.
Normally, he shouldn't feel pain. But he felt the pain of this injury. It was so much that he screamed.
He opened his mouth and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Ahhhhhh."
If it was an ordinary curse, it wouldn't have worked on him because of his shape-shifting ability. The direction of the curse would have ceased to exist because he had changed.
But it wasn't an ordinary curse because the materials used for the curse were directly related to him. The curse would have found him in any place in the universe regardless of distance.
The only saving grace was that it wasn't his blood hooks that were used for the curse. It was only the corpses that his blood hooks killed that were used to curse him, so most of the power of the curse was lost.
The power of the curse that reached him had become weak. It couldn't kill him outright. This allowed him to heal from damages done to him.
Since the curse couldn't kill him immediately, it couldn't kill him as long as he had life force to heal. All he felt was intense pain as his body was disintegrating to become just like the corpse they were used to curse him.
If he runs out of life force, he will either have to leave the core of the world to get life force or have Glory-4 get life force for him. He chose the latter.
Icon waited and waited for him to show up. He waited for any sign that his curse had worked, but he saw nothing useful.
There was a lot of feedback as the corpses he used didn't belong to Kelvin alone. So many people had been cursed to death by him. But none of them were Kelvin.
This made Icon sigh in disappointment and leave. But he still wasn't willing to give up.
He said to himself, "There are other sources that I can use for the curse. I just have to make sure not to use all of them."
He remembered that Kelvin still had connections to other people. Kelvin had put marks in the mind of the leaders of his cabal. He can use that connection to curse Kelvin.
If he wants the curse to be powerful, he will have to kill those people. But if he does that, he won't be able to use them as traps for Kelvin anymore.
He couldn't have both, so he decided to use half of them for curses and keep the other as bait for his trap.
After making that decision, he still has to decide on what type of curse to use.
He could make a general-purpose curse. It will be weaker but difficult to defend.
He could also use a targeted curse. A targeted curse based on the mind, to be exact. So it will be a mental curse.
This targeted curse will be more powerful than the general-purpose curse because the connection that he wants to use for his curse is mental.
The more aligned the connection and the curse are, the more powerful the curse. But he doesn't want a targeted curse, especially a mental one, because the last time he used a mental attack against Kelvin, his attack failed, and he lost a puppet.
As usual, he decided to use both of them. After all, he had enough raw materials for him to try various options with.
For that whole day, he kept cursing Kelvin.
He tried to use the curse to find his location, but it didn't work. The curse to kill Kelvin didn't work either. Both the targeted curse and general-purpose curses failed.
