DEATH NOTE:NOTE OF DEATH

Chapter 12: ch12

I was a little nervous at first, and unconsciously tightened my grip on the iron rod. But when the smoke slowly dissipated, I could see the face of the person coming, and I felt relieved.

"Alex? Why are you here?" I was stunned.

That's right, the man standing in front of me with a cigarette butt that was about to go out between his fingers was Alex.

"I was just about to ask you, what are you doing here so late at night instead of going home? Do you know that I've been waiting at your door for an hour?" Before I could finish my words, Alex scolded me angrily.

There was no time to deal with him. I just walked around him and rushed down from the top floor. The man should be in this building, and I saw it with my own eyes. It was impossible for him to enter any house, but this guy really disappeared.

"What are you looking for?" Alex held my shoulders with his hands, breathlessly.

"Hoo...Hoo..." Alex panted heavily and said, "Are you sick? Can't you use the elevator? You want to tire me to death from this height?"

Alex's words completely woke me up. I quickly ran to the elevator. Sure enough, this problem appeared in the elevator. Seeing this scene in front of me, I wanted to slap myself in the face. Such a simple little trick turned out to be my blind spot in thinking.

"Ryan! What are you looking for?" Alex couldn't help it and yelled.

I told him roughly what happened just now...

"Are you crazy? Where did the murderer come from? You know very well that the person you are talking about has been locked up in the police station. I think you are thinking too much. Are you hallucinating?" Alex shook his head firmly and said that I must be hallucinating and I must have made a mistake. The murderer has now been brought to justice.

He said it was all over.

"Don't you believe me?" I took off my glasses and looked at him. At that moment, I suddenly felt an impulse, an impulse to kill someone.

After all, today I actually passed by a very dangerous person, and the facts told me that it was definitely not an illusion. Facing Alex's suspicion, at this moment, I was angry.

Because of Alex's distrust.

"If it was you in the past, I would definitely believe you 100%. But don't you think you've been acting strange recently? Besides, who is the suspect? Didn't you see him? I caught him myself. Are you saying I found the wrong person?"

I can't refute it, and the murderer confessed himself, but I just have a feeling that it's not over yet, or even just beginning. I don't know what this feeling means, and I don't know what evidence I have to prove that my feeling is right.

I was silent for a moment, and at this time Alex patted my shoulder.

"Ryan, I think you must be too tired, and you have been in a bad mood recently. Please take some time tomorrow to go see a psychiatrist with me. Maybe that incident was too much of a blow to you." Alex patted my shoulder and walked in another direction.

I retorted, "I walked out a long time ago!"

Alex picked his ears, and it was obvious that he didn't believe me: "Now I only trust the psychiatrist. If he can tell me tomorrow that you are fine, then I will believe you."

"where did you go?"

"Nonsense, of course I'm going to your house. My bag is still at your door."

Alex said that he followed me all the way because he heard my voice, but the only thing that did not change was that he said everything I saw was an illusion, and it all came from the fact that I was under too much pressure.

After all, there is nothing that can be done about it. The suspect has confessed and admitted all the crimes he has committed and described the entire criminal process.

Everything seemed flawless, as if I was the accident.

We talked a lot that day, and under his guidance, I even felt that it might be an illusion caused by my strong pressure. Maybe there was no shadow at all, and it was all my illusion. It might even be the sequelae of synesthesia...

At Alex's strong request, I also promised him that I would see a psychologist. Of course, it was just a cover. About an hour later, Alex left.

No words were spoken that night.

The next morning, I woke up to the golden sunlight shining through the gaps in the curtains.

The pillowcase seemed a little wet. I probably had a dream again last night, but I don't remember it at all. I'm afraid I'm the only one who knows it. This is another disadvantage of synesthesia. My mind never enters deep sleep, let alone dreams. Even if I occasionally have a dream, when I wake up, I will never remember what I dreamed about.

Maybe some memories I once lost...

There was still an hour and a half until 8 o'clock, so I had plenty of time. After I folded the quilt, cleaned the room, and put all the items back to their original places, I left the room, walked to the police station, and had breakfast on the way.

Just as I reached the next intersection, my cell phone rang unexpectedly.

When I saw the name above, I originally didn't plan to answer the call, because the person calling was Alex. He might be calling at this time to tell me that I must see a psychologist today.

But because of what happened yesterday, I was afraid that something might happen to Alex, so I still answered the call.

After hearing his voice, I clearly felt my brows furrowed.

"Ryan, where are you? Another murder has occurred. I'll send you the location later and you just need to hurry over."

Alex hung up the phone right after he finished speaking. I also stretched my legs to the limit in an instant. The police station was not far away, so it only took me about two minutes to get there.

"Ryan, this way." Alex was leading the team to go out on a police mission. When he saw me coming, he got out of the police car and waved to me.

"I'll get the toolbox."

"Don't bother anymore. Everything that needs to be taken has been brought here." Alex patted the car with his hand. Lucy, who was sitting in the driver's seat, was waving at me with a smile.

In the car, Alex briefly explained the situation to me. I originally thought it was just an ordinary homicide case, but what I didn't expect was that all my premonitions came true, and Alex was completely dumbfounded.

Lucy followed me, but when she saw this scene, I could feel her breathing rhythm changed. Because this scene in front of us all felt familiar. Although everything in front of us did prove that Alex was wrong, I was not happy at all.

Because this means that all this is just the beginning, the murderer has no intention of stopping, and the person caught by Alex is, to be precise, just a scapegoat.

"Ryan, you are right, this matter is not over yet." Alex saw that I was slow to speak, so he came to my side, but at that moment, the feeling in him changed, like a deflated balloon. Feeling a bit depressed...
