Days of my Life

Chapter 24: QUESTIONS

"I'm sorry, it didn't go as I planned, and I wasn't able to save your mom," I apologized. "But I took care of the demon; let me take you home."

She hugged me, still crying. I guess she must be shocked by what she just saw.

"Thanks, Henry. For a moment there, I thought you'd run away."

"Let me get you home; it's too dangerous," I said and pushed her away gently, and to my surprise, there was no injury on her face. "May, your face... there... there is no scar."

"What!!?" She said and felt her face with her hand, slowly and gently rubbing her hand on her face. She smiled; she didn't seem concerned about her dead mother.

"Don't tell me you're a..." She jumped on me, trying to bite as I held her back. "May, snap out of it."

I was too weak, I tried to use her as bait. It was my fault. Now she's a demon because of me.

She couldn't hear me; I think that demon infected May before she died. And I can't use the phantom snake to attack May because it could kill her.

My father once told me that some supernaturals often go scouting around at night. So, I decided to call out for help.

"HELP! SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!" I yelled as loud as I could. "May, please stop this. I'm sorry. Please, stop."

She suddenly stood up and left, running faster than my eyes could see. Two minutes later, a bunch of supernaturals came to help me. I tried to explain everything, but they wouldn't listen to me. I came behind me and hit me on the neck, and I fainted.

I woke up on a bed, but it was not my house. My hands were chained to the edge of the bed. I looked around, but the room was empty except for the man who was sitting on a wooden chair.

"Good morning," the boy said with a deep but smooth voice.

"Huh?" I said it with a confused expression.

"Oh, this is one of our holding areas in the ASE academy," he said, acting like he didn't kidnap me. He didn't look like he was up to eighteen; I guessed, maybe sixteen.

I kept looking at him straight in the face. "Don't worry, we just want to ask you a few questions."

He was starting to lose courage as his voice went back to normal.

"So, why did you make me unconscious?. You could h? e asked me to follow you, and I'll do just that," I questioned him.

"Hmm, it's...we were... " He was starting to crack.

"You don't have to explain anything to him, Ronald," a woman said as she walked into the room. She was gorgeous; she was blonde, and she had very bright yellow eyes. She was tall and properly dressed in a black suit. "I'm Emily, and I'm going to be your interrogator."

"Interrogator?  For what?" I asked in confusion. These people are not making any sense.

"I ask you questions, and you answer," she said, walking up to Ronald as he stood up, bowed in respect, and left. "You understand that, right?"

"Sure." I don't know what else to say.

"First, did you encounter a demon?"

"Of course I did; I almost died and all." She clears her throat. I stopped, then answered. "Yes"

"I want you to explain everything that happened."

"Okay," I explained everything that happened, but I didn't mention anything about May being there; I just said it was eating her mom, and I killed it. If I mentioned May or anything about the demon asking me to be one of them, May might get involved, and if they discovered she is a demon now, she would be killed, and I might also be killed for working with a demon.

"I heard there was a girl at the scene, the daughter of the victim."

"No, I didn't meet anyone; I guessed she must have run away or been killed and eaten on the spot."

"Can the demon talk?"

"Yes, it said a few words to me." S**t, I just said I had a conversation with it. This is becoming serious.

"What did it say?"

"She said what I was doing out at night, and she threatened to kill me and told me to run to make it more fun for him," I said I was trying to make up stories.

"It's okay; I know you're supernatural. So why are you not at the academy and going to a normal school?"

"Nothing really; I just don't want to be around some bunch of freaks."

"Hmmm, freaks, you say," she leaned back on her chair brought a folded piece of paper out of her pocket and opened it. " According to our research, you are Henry, son of Kennedy. A supernatural work for the ASE Academy, USA. He died some months ago after your sixth birthday, and your mom left when you were three. Is that correct?"

I looked at her boldly without saying a word.

"Before your father died, he put you in some orphanage for you to grow up as a normal kid, but you ran away two weeks after his death."

"How was I supposed to pay my final respect to him if I was trapped in there?" I yelled.

"To pay your final respects," she laughed. "You are as ignorant and stupid as your father was. If only he agreed,  let us save his life. He didn't even bring you to the academy."

I was beginning to lose my temper.

"Look, lady, I don't know who you are, but if you say one more thing about my father,"

"Don't worry, I'm not here to play either," she said with a more serious look. "So why did you go back to the house?"

"That's my father's house, so now that he's dead, it's mine. So I will keep on living there."

"According to the ASE law by the council of the twelve sages, You have to be at least sixteen to own a house. And you're eight."

"So?" I asked.

"You can't live there," she stated.

"What??"
