Danmachi: Reaper

Chapter 19: Determination!

"Urgh ...." Wiping the blood stains on his lips, Kelvin got up as he stared at the Orc who attacked him just now.

The grin on his face did not disappear, in fact it was now even wider, as he thought he had found a worthy opponent.

You see, although Kelvin was a level 1 adventurer, but his skills and raw power alone were already comparable to a peak level 2 adventurer.

The reason he was able to defeat Ais was also because they were competing with pure sword techniques, and Kelvin also used a technique where he used Ais' strength to turn against her.

After all, for Kelvin, fighting humans was easier than fighting monsters. Humans had reason, and their movements could be predicted by just looking at their previous moves.

While monsters? They have no sense, and they also don't care about the risk of losing their lives. Monsters would attack blindly, and therefore their movements could not be predicted easily.

"Are you alright, Kelvin-sama?!"

Sylpha came over as she supported Kelvin's body while looking at his condition.

Kelvin's body mostly only had minor wounds, while his clothes were torn and dirty with dust, there was nothing to worry about.

"Back off, Sylpha. Let me handle this."

"B-But ...." Sylpha felt doubtful.

The Orcs' strength was equivalent to a level 2 adventurer, and it would be difficult for Kelvin who was still a level 1 adventurer to deal with many Orcs by himself.

Sylpha wanted to help, but without her sword she couldn't do anything.

Sylpha gritted her teeth in frustration, if only, if only she hadn't left her sword at home....

But, she couldn't ignore Kelvin's orders, so she could only obey when Kelvin told her to leave her weapon and she ended up with only one small dagger just in case.

"Don't worry, I..., won't lose!"

Seeing the worry on Sylpha's face, Kelvin looked at her with determination.

To be strong, he had to go beyond the limits, if he stayed in his comfort zone, he would never become strong.

That's why, here, he wanted to test himself to fight with the Orcs with only his bare hands.

Being weaponless might make his strength halve, but that was because that was what Kelvin was looking for right now.

He wanted to level up as quickly as possible, and if he used a weapon on his first exploration, then it was certain that he would get down to the 15th floor without any problems.

That was also the reason why he told Sylpha to leave her weapon at home.

With her sword, Sylpha could be sure to have level 5 adventurer strength. And with her and Sylpha, Kelvin was confident that they would break through the 25th floor without any problems.

That way, he wouldn't face any significant challenges.

And one of the requirements for leveling up was to collect enough high-quality excelia, and that was by challenging oneself against stronger enemies.

If Kelvin didn't remember correctly, Ais managed to level 6 by fighting Udaeus alone, and winning.

If that was the case, then it would take Kelvin a long time to collect excelia to increase his stats, before finally collecting high-quality excelia to level up.

That was why he would fight Orcs or other monsters on the 10th floor alone, unarmed, and without any protection.

That way, Kelvin believed that at least all his stats should go up to D or C level except for his Magic stats.

Speaking of magic, Kelvin was always curious. Would he be able to evoke magic or skills from the Anime he had watched before?

So far, he wasn't sure, but if he wished hard enough, he should be able to get it, right?

Well, ignoring that, Kelvin started moving without waiting for Sylpha's reaction.

His movements were quite fast, even though his body was riddled with wounds, and some of his bones might have been cracked from the impact.

But, Kelvin did not stop.

To become stronger, he not only had to train harder. But he also had to challenge himself!

Kelvin jumped as he brought his hands together, grasped his knuckles tightly and slammed them into the head of the Orc in front of him.

"Oraaaaa!!!!"

Bamm!

Kelvin's attack dealt significant damage, making the Orc lose his balance as he limped backwards.

Not stopping there, Kelvin immediately launched a second attack.

Kelvin knew that although the Orc's skin looked soft, it was actually hard enough to pierce with bare hands.

But, that only applied to its skin!

Moving closer, Kelvin grabbed the Orc's body and climbed onto its shoulders. As soon as he was on top of its calf, Kelvin stomped on its head several times, making the Orc roar in pain.

Grrraaaaahhhh!

The orc swung his arms, as if trying to grab Kelvin's body and throw him.

Only, Kelvin had anticipated this. He moved quickly and thrust his hand into the orc's eye.

*Splash!

Green liquid splashed everywhere as Kelvin's hand successfully penetrated into the Orc's eye.

Graahhhhh!!!

The orc instantly roared in pain, shouting angrily while swinging his hand blindly.

Only, what he did was a futile act.

Having finished damaging its eyes, Kelvin didn't get down immediately, but moved behind its back and moved his hand again.

This time, the target was not the eyes, but the inner mouth.

Using the dagger he borrowed from Sylpha just now, he thrust his hand into the orc's mouth, and forcefully thrust the dagger into the top of its mouth and made a large slice, which instantly made the pig disappear in a puff of black smoke.

With the magic stone down, Kelvin knew he had won.

It's just that it hadn't even reached the end ....

*Bammm!

The other orc grabbed a nearby tree, uprooting it as he swung at it in a reckless manner.

*Bamm! Bamm! Bamm!

Three swings, and Kelvin was forced to duck backwards.

"Damn it! Looks like this isn't going to be easy anymore...."

Kelvin gritted his teeth as he stared at the Orc in annoyance.

Seeing him grab a tree and uproot it with ease, Kelvin's eyes twitched.

Of course, inside the dungeon, everything here could be a weapon for the monsters inside.

How could he forget about that?

"Haha, I guess I'll be a little serious here!"

While saying that, Kelvin prepared his stance.

One attack.

If he managed to dodge that one attack from the Orc, he could take the opening and turn around to kill him.

The Orc roared as he raised his hand and swung the tree trunk he was holding.

Up until this point, Kelvin had been silent, he waited for the distance between them to get closer while calculating the distance the orc could swing.

Until then, he would wait for the orc to get closer to him.

After a while, the Orc moved closer and closer, and when the distance between them reached 5 meters, Kelvin began to move forward!

Realizing Kelvin's movement, the orc swung the tree trunk vertically from above, and at the right moment, Kelvin jumped up, and ran on top of the tree trunk and straight towards the orc.

"GHUOOOOOOOO!!!"

The orc roared as he realized his attack had missed its target.

Only, before he could react, Kelvin moved faster, raising his dagger as he again thrust it into the orc's eye.

This time, not just once, but he pierced both eyes in turn, and after doing so, he quickly sliced his long snout in one motion.

"GUOOOORRHHH!!!"

The orc roared loudly, even though Kelvin had injured him this much, he was still able to survive and wasn't dead yet.

"Feel this!"

Kelvin moved faster, this time he thrust his dagger into the orc's abdomen as deep as he could, after which he sliced it open.

Green liquid spurted everywhere, but Kelvin ignored it as he looked at the orc's helpless body before it disappeared into a cloud of smoke in the air.
