Chapter 3: Chapter 2
Hearing the praise, Rose blushed slightly, bit her soft lips and said in a tone full of regret: "What's the use of being pretty? There's a person who only comes to visit me when there's work, and even when it's my birthday that person comes so late."
Yang Ji smiled lightly, her normally dispassionate face shining like a subtle spark, "I'm sorry I'm not good at comforting other people, and I offer you a discount whenever you need my services, and I was visiting Old Li and his daughter so I took longer than usual."
Rose reluctantly looked at Yang Ji, "Well at least you came for my birthday so I'll forgive you."
Yang Ji laughed softly and said, "Thank you, Rose."
"So what's it like working with me? The targets I give you and being a bodyguard for me? Did they leave you dissatisfied, uncomfortable?"
Yang Ji could only come to an agreement: "Okay, pretty good, the pay is really good, the only complaint I have is that you don't hire me more often, you're really easy to work with."
Rose pouted: "I would hire you all the time if you weren't so expensive, the last assignment you charged me 3 million dollars!"
Hearing these words, Yang Ji just smiled and said wryly: "Wow, I didn't realize I was so expensive. I'm the best of the best, Rose. Obviously my services would be expensive, I charge in advance and carry out the target with precision and efficiency. Plus, I'm one of the few people in my circle that you can trust with your services and have the job done."
Hearing Yang Ji's reply, Rose frowned, lightly pursed her lips, and shifted her gaze to the ground. She then whispered angrily, but with a faint tinge of blush on her cheeks, to herself, "It would be better if you became my lover..."
What she didn't realize was that the words he said, which she herself could barely hear, were words that Yang Ji heard clearly, but she knew that she should pretend that she didn't hear anything.
No matter how dim the lights in the bar were, Rose's face and physique still gave off an irresistible charm. However, from the moment Rose appeared, even when some people noticed her, they only dared to take a glance before looking away. Some curious new customers asked the surrounding customers who Rose was, and there was basically only one answer: "Drink your liquor, don't court death."
Feeling a little defeated, Rose walked to the other side of the counter, sat down beside Yang Ji, first poured a glass of whiskey for herself, then poured another for Yang Ji, rolled her eyes and scolded, "Greedy woman, I know you're tough when it comes to collecting. It's fine that you're not willing to stay by my side, however, today is my birthday, can you make an exception and drink a glass of liquor?"
Yang Ji just smiled softly at her and lifted her whiskey. Despite everything, she considered Rose her friend. Even though Rose was clearly in love with her, Yang Ji didn't dare to cross that line from friendship to love. She didn't feel ready for it.
Sure enough, Rose smiled happily, that smile was like seeing snow for the first time. Under the dim light, her face shone with brilliance, entering Yang Ji's eyes, causing his heart to tremble slightly though she quickly suppressed it.
"Health"
After clinking glasses, Yang Ji drank the ice-cold liquid without hesitation.
Rose laughed out loud, leaned forward and pressed her body against Yang Ji's chest and said melancholically, "You know, it's been 10 years since I last celebrated my birthday. Although there's no cake, no candles, no presents, not even a party... there's an unromantic and sarcastic woman like you to accompany me for a drink, I feel very happy..."
Yang Ji smiled softly and put one hand on Rose's waist and the other gently ran through her purple hair. "I wouldn't miss it, dear. I insisted so much that if I hadn't, I wouldn't have valued you, and I didn't want to make you feel like less."
Rose smiled like a lovesick schoolgirl and asked him softly with her eyes closed, "What's wrong with you today? You're usually so cold and dispassionate around me, and now you're so tender."
Yang Ji also closed his eyes and breathed in the scent of rose and said, "That's only when I'm working. Right now I'm just a woman enjoying a moment of bliss with her friend."
She raised her head once more and saw Rose looking at her with a dazzling smile, Yang Ji slowly approached her forehead and placed a soft kiss on it.
The two women stood there smiling at each other as the crowd stared at them in amazement but they seemed lost in their own world.
Rose finally stood up, giving him a radiant smile "I'm going to go entertain my other clients, you can go if you want, just having you here made my day"
Rose left the seat naturally and unrestrainedly, and walked towards the other customers.
The bar patrons had long known that the bar boss was very charming, but they did not dare to give up their manners. This was because they received information that the woman's background was anything but simple. As a result, it was easy for Rose to greet her customers.
In fact, Rose's face contained a passionate smile. That extraordinary temperament was enough to make most men feel intimidated, so they could only watch from a distance. Furthermore, they did not want to reveal any notion of obscenity, as no one was looking for a slight.
Yang Ji's return to this country three years ago did not completely transform her; on the contrary, when Rose left, she returned to her apathetic and distant behavior.
If it was the Yang Ji of the past, who was faced with a fascinating woman like Rose who had affection for her, there wouldn't even have been a need for her to seduce her. She would have thrown her onto a bed long ago without caring about the consequences. In any case, once the act was over, she could just leave.
Yang Ji sighed, but she was still happy to no longer be the same. She remembered how, years ago, she had refused to help an old friend in need because it did not directly benefit her. That memory tormented her, filling her with guilt and forcing her to reflect. The previous Yang Ji was too cold and ruthless.
Yang Ji drank the rest of her drink and she left. When she left, in the eyes of Rose, who watched her silently, there was a feeling of disappointment.
Outside the bar, Yang Ji looked around before finally walking towards a small bar nearby. There might be plenty of prey in high-class bars, but the money in Yang Ji's wallet wouldn't be enough.
