Chapter 186: Kill Them All
"I'm not the Head of my House," grunted Michael, looking quickly over at Nicholas. The look he gave him would have made me chuckle if my head wasn't currently pounding. "That is Gabriel. As such, I cannot give you what I don't have."
I pointed to a spot beside Greyson, and, with a sign of relief, Michael glided over to my side of the table.
"Butterfly," started Nicholas before I held up my hand to silence him once again.
"No," I announced. Pushing the file folder with all of Viktor's House information in it, I stared at the two men again. "I get what you are trying to do, and I appreciate that," I assured them. I didn't want them to think that I didn't understand just what an honor it was to be given power over Houses that aren't related to me by blood.
In fact, in the entire history of Monster kind, a situation like that had never happened. Monsters cared too much about bloodlines and power to even consider such a thing.
And maybe that was part of the problem. Maybe the Houses were fighting too much amongst themselves, trying to scratch and claw their way to the top that they started doing stupid shit.
Like getting involved with humans and Demons.
"Pui Mic," murmured Viktor, but like Nicholas, I silenced him with a single hand.
"At some point in time, when the world isn't ending and life goes back to normal, I will consider it. But for right now, I am going to be the Queen of England," I announced with a nod of my head. "You can use me as a figure head, one that can trump any decisions that you don't agree with. However, I will not involve myself into the day to day affairs of your House. Do you understand?"
"I really don't," sighed Nicholas as Viktor remained silent. "For hundreds of years, I knew that I would be handing House Diavd to you. And now that you are finally my mate, mating marks and all, all I want to do is give you what is rightfully yours."
Viktor grunted in agreement, but I rolled my eyes at him. "Your band of merry men won't accept me as the Head of your House," I sighed, looking at the Van Helsing. "And I am not going to quell an insurrection of hundreds of males who think they could do the job better than me."
Opening the folder, I quickly found the document that I wanted. "I sign this, I can be your escape. You sign this, and nothing changes in your life. Do you understand?"
"No," announced Viktor with a shrug. "I don't do things in half measures, nor do I take back the gifts that I give. My House is yours. Whether you sign on that line or not. I don't have much to give, but I will give you everything that I have."
That was rich. One of the richest men in the world didn't have a lot to give me for a wedding gift. Most women might get jewelry, or a set of tableware… but not me. I get billion dollar companies and Houses of Knights chomping at the bit for the next hunt.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the idea, but I have been a police officer since the first time my head was taken. I have no idea how to run a successful business, and there are probably millions of people around the world that depend on Knight Securities for their income.
I was not going to fuck around with that simply because Viktor wanted to prove his love and devotion. Netflix and chill would do the same thing and cost a lot less.
Realizing that I couldn't out stubborn the hunter, I rolled my eyes and turned my attention to Nicholas. "I'll take your House on one condition," I sighed. I had a demon problem on Earth, why not let the King of Demons take care of it.
"Name it, and it's yours," smiled Nicholas. "And it will be done for free with no conditions for you. As Queen of the Demons, it is your right to order me around, and my honor to do anything for you."
Oh, why oh why did those words make me squirm.
Shaking my head, I focused myself to the task at hand. Looking internally, I called up the web of demons that I had seen before. "There are currently 6,870,459 demons in this world, including yourself," I announced, my voice dreamy as I studied the threads. "Half of them are corrupted and need to be killed. Find them, kill them. Those who just want to have a normal life on Earth can remain."
The monster inside of me who demanded the blood of every last demon was long dead, and I was willing to compromise. But I wouldn't turn my back on any threat.
"Can you kill them?" asked Nicholas, cocking his head to the side.
"I can," I shrugged. "But if I do it, it's permanent. I don't want to take the chance that I cut a rotten string and have it be your best friend."
"Kill them all," waved Nicholas as if he didn't have a care in the world over sentencing more than three million demons to death. "If you have determined them to be rotten, there is no point in keeping them."
"This is your last chance," I sighed. This really was the best way to do things, but I didn't want to examine just why I wasn't overly upset at the idea of killing that man 'people'.
"Cut their thread, Butterfly, and rid yourself of the headache of justifying their lives."
----
"You should have told her," hissed Sasha as the men filed out of Natalia's office. She had dismissed all of them, preferring that none of them see her when she was cutting the threads of life.
"Why?" sighed Viktor as he rubbed his forehead. "What would it accomplish besides making her more stressed."
"Why," scoffed Sasha as the eight men filed into the parlor where they normally got their drinks. "You have her thinking that she is going to her own wedding."
"Eventually, there will be a wedding; we just have to deal with this first," replied Viktor, pouring himself a full glass of his favorite liquor.
Now, there was scoffing coming from all the men around him. However, Viktor just smirked at them. "This might be my plan, but all of you are involved in it. When shit hits the fan, it's going to cover all of us… even the favorites."
