Chapter 98: Chapter 95: The Great One Defeated by Food
"Thud! Thud! Thud!"
Carrying Star-Lord in her mouth, Kelly padded across the soft earth, weaving through the grass and dense woods.
Standing atop a hill, the bright moonlight bathed her, casting a silver sheen over her already luminous fur, adding an ethereal glow.
Turning back toward the distant rumblings coming from the school, concern flickered in her eyes.
After glancing at the massive moon above, she let out a low whimper, then turned to hurry toward the farm. Her mission now was to protect Star-Lord.
With a resounding "Thud", she leaped down from the hilltop, only to hear a whistling noise above her.
As the sound grew louder, shaking the very air around her, Kelly's eyes widened in shock as two figures plummeted from the sky not far ahead.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
The ground quaked violently, dirt flying into the air before raining down in a cloud.
Stunned, Kelly approached the newly-formed craters, peering inside with a deep inhale.
Lying in one of the pits was John, his clothes in tatters, body charred and smoking as he gasped for air.
The other "girl" who had descended from the heavens landed smoothly on her feet.
Dusting off her shoulders, she looked at John in the pit and remarked, "Pity. I can fly too. Did you think a great demon wouldn't match your speed? Even though my powers are nothing compared to what they once were."
Her gaze shifted to Kelly, who had transformed into a white wolf and was carrying Star-Lord in her mouth. She clapped her hands elegantly. "Well, isn't this a surprise? Peter Podrick's second son falls right into my lap."
The demon, evidently amused, began walking toward Kelly.
Sensing the powerful aura emanating from the figure, Kelly growled low, her green eyes glowing fiercely. Backing away with Star-Lord, she prepared for a fight.
"Oh, little wolf-girl, there's no escaping now."
The demon's grin widened grotesquely as she extended a clawed hand toward Kelly.
In the next moment, Kelly's body lurched forward, dragged by an invisible force toward the demon.
Understanding she was being controlled, Kelly gritted her teeth, ready to make a desperate last stand when a sharp crack of air shattered the tension.
"Bang!"
Peter, like a missile, collided with the demon, sending her flying.
The heavy thud of impact left the demon sprawled on the ground.
Panting slightly, Peter glanced at John in the pit.
Sensing he was unharmed, Peter exhaled in relief. At least the kid's okay.
"You're fast, Peter. Faster than I expected," the demon remarked, lying still with her eyes wide open.
With an eerie "Thud," her body straightened upright as if on a springboard.
She sighed, placing a hand on her forehead, and continued, "Your family is truly troublesome. Look at your eldest son—he tried to melt with me in the sun. Such heroic self-sacrifice. If I didn't have a few tricks up my sleeve, he might've succeeded."
"Too bad. I won't let him play the hero. If he died and went to heaven, I'd go mad."
Hearing her mention competing with God for souls, Peter's mind flashed to a name. "You're Lucifer?"
At his words, Lucifer's expression froze.
"You're sharp, Peter. You've guessed my name. But I wasn't planning to hide it anyway."
The demon rubbed her forehead as her guise as a young girl faded.
In Kelly's astonished gaze, a blond, pale-skinned young man in a black suit now stood before Peter.
Despite the admission, Peter doubted him.
In the DC universe, Lucifer was a well-known figure—a perfect angel created by God who rebelled against his creator due to dissatisfaction with his predetermined destiny.
This rebellion led to his fall and subsequent rule over Hell. Known for his arrogance and cunning, he was a constant thorn in everyone's side.
Even after his fall, Lucifer retained his divine radiance and near-omnipotent power.
But the Lucifer before Peter lacked the overwhelming presence described in legends.
Is his power restricted, or is he hiding it?
Though formidable, this Lucifer's demeanor was more akin to an arrogant child than the ruler of Hell. Perhaps this demon wasn't truly Lucifer after all—demons were notorious liars, after all.
Peter fell into contemplation.
Lucifer took a few steps forward, addressing Peter. "I'm no longer Satan. My throne was stolen, my power weakened, so now I wander the human world."
"But it's not so bad. I've grown tired of Hell, and otherwise, I wouldn't have met your family."
Peter nodded. "So you're a fallen demon. I've picked up a few down-on-their-luck folks before."
Ignoring Peter's sarcasm, Lucifer stepped closer. "Though I know what you'll say, let me ask again: Will you give me your soul and become my servant?"
Peter took a deep breath and slowly raised a middle finger.
"Fuck you!"
Angered, Lucifer unleashed his magical power.
A vast, oppressive force spread through the space, compressing everything like a tidal wave.
Peter, Kelly, and the injured John found themselves immobilized under the weight.
As Lucifer approached Peter, he smirked triumphantly. "Well? Will you serve me now, Peter Podrick? If you agree—"
Before he could finish, Peter's expression caught his attention.
"I'm guessing…" Lucifer flexed his fingers. "There's something unbelievable behind me, isn't there?"
"Boom!"
In the next instant, a massive cookie struck Lucifer, sending him flying.
Not just any cookie—Star-Lord, encased in stone and dirt, had transformed into an enormous shortbread cookie.
"What the… Shortbread?"
Lucifer stared, dumbfounded, as the glowing cookie attacked again.
What followed was a bizarre battle, where Star-Lord, now controlling an army of cookie-themed projectiles, bombarded Lucifer.
Furious, Lucifer roared, "Enough!"
But his rage was cut short as a glowing tendril pierced his chest.
Taking the chance, Peter lunged, gathering all his energy.
With a devastating burst of power, Peter obliterated Lucifer, reducing him to dust.
Catching the now-de-transformed Star-Lord, Peter sighed, looking at the boy who had saved the day.
"Maybe eating more isn't such a bad thing after all."
As Star-Lord drifted to sleep, Clark arrived, surveying the scene in shock.
"Godfather?" he asked cautiously. "Am I late?"
Peter chuckled, patting Star-Lord's head. "Not at all, kid. Not at all."
