CRUEL LOVE 1

A year passed and Sophia was already in her third year. This time she didn't go back home. She spent her holiday with joseph and Favour.

School had resumed again and she started working endlessly. Her clothes business was running so smoothly. She had planned to open a cloth store when she saves enough money for it.

Today, she had an order and it was Fred that ordered. Fred was very helpful; he told his friends about her and they also bought from her. Fred and Sophia became very close friends. She packed up the clothes he ordered for and was about to leave the house when she saw joseph's car coming in.

"What was he doing here?" she thought.

Joseph packed his car and came out with a smiling face. He wasn't here to see Sophia. Favour informed him that Sophia was going to Fred's house today that was why he came.

"Hey baby" they both hugged each other.

"Are you going somewhere?" joseph feigned ignorance.

"Oh I'm going to deliver clothes to a friend", she answered.

"Do I know this friend?" joseph continued asking.

Sophia felt that his behavior was quite weird but she didn't really think much of it.

"Yes, you know him. It's Fred".

"Babe, what the hell!!" he screamed. Sophia was scared when he shouted. She stepped back a bit from him.

"Why would you deliver clothes to a man in his house? Why don't you send a dispatch rider instead? Don't you know it's very dangerous? Joseph kept on scolding her while Sophia stood there watching him. She thought he really cared about her.

When joseph was done with his scolding, he made a call and someone came over. He gave the clothes, address and number to him.

"Deliver these to this person immediately, he ordered. When the man went, joseph turned to look at his woman.

"See? It's very easy. I don't want you going around guys' house just to make money, understood?"

"Understood."

They got inside the house and spent time together. While they were together, a call came in.

Sophia picked up the phone to check the caller and saw it was Fred. She was about to pick when joseph snatched the phone from her.

"Hello"

"Who's this? Please I need to speak to Sophia."

"Sophia is my girlfriend and she's sleeping." Joseph said and ended the call immediately.

Sophia looked at him in a suspicious way and asked why he did that.

"Why did I do that?" he asked back.

Sophia sighed and went inside her room. Joseph sat on the couch and focused on his phone.

In Sophia's room

"Babe. I'm telling you. He picked up my call and scolded Fred. And he hasn't even come to my room till now to check up on me. He has been acting so strange lately." Sophia told Favour everything that happened.

Well, Favour was very happy and satisfied about what she was hearing. It seemed that joseph was really changing towards Sophia. But she didn't show her excitement, instead she pretended to console her and told her that everything was going to be fine.

They talked for few more minutes and ended the call. It was getting dark when Sophia went to the parlor to check on her man. Surprisingly, she heard him talking to someone on the phone. A video call.

"Who's that?" she asked immediately.

Joseph almost fell from the couch because he didn't see when she arrived.

"Uhm it's nobody." He lied while putting his phone in his pocket.

"Are you sure, Nobody right?"

"It's just a course mate, that's all." He continued lying.

"Why would a female course mate that is a nobody to you call you at night by this time, joseph?" Sophia was starting to get so angry.

"Is this the reason you are acting so strange? Are you cheating on me or do you like someone else, huh?"

Joseph was shocked at her words. He tried going closer to her but she stepped back every time he came closer.

"Babe, you are thinking too far. Very far. Nothing is going on and I can never cheat on you. Never."

"Leave my house."

"What the fuck, Sophia"

She didn't want to hear anything he was saying again so she opened the door and told him to leave. She was getting very tired of this. His attitude had changed this past few months and she didn't want to conclude or find out that he was doing something hurtful behind her back.

Well, joseph didn't expect Sophia's reaction to this. "Did she really see who he was on a call with?"

She was always so calm and agreeing to everything he said and wanted. But today, she was different. Very different. He didn't want to leave because of his pride but he didn't want to continue lying to her and hurting her.

"I'll call you when I get back home." He said and left. Sophia shut the door loudly and slid down the wall crying. She stayed there till she fell asleep.
