Chapter 5: The mysterious message

I quickly followed Thomas as he navigated through the crowded streets, our senses on high alert. We didn't know who or what was following us, but we knew we had to lose them.

After a few minutes of walking, Thomas stopped at a small alleyway between two buildings. "In here, sir," he whispered, pushing me into the alley.

I leaned against the wall, my heart racing, as Thomas positioned himself at the entrance, scanning the surrounding area. We waited in silence for what felt like an eternity, our ears straining to pick up any sound.

Finally, Thomas turned to me and nodded. "I think we lost them, sir."

I let out a sigh of relief and pushed off the wall. "Good. Let's get back to the mansion and figure out what's going on."

As we made our way back, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. I kept looking over my shoulder, expecting to see someone lurking in the shadows. But there was never anyone there.

When we arrived at the mansion, I immediately went to my study and locked the door behind me. I needed some time to think and process everything that had happened.

I sat down at my desk and pulled out the note that the owner of the internet cafe had given me. I stared at the words, trying to decipher their meaning.

"Meet me at the old warehouse at midnight. Come alone."

Who was behind this message? And what did they want from me?

I spent the next few hours pouring over the note, trying to find any hidden clues or messages. But there was nothing.

As the clock struck midnight, I knew I had to make a decision. Was I going to ignore the message and stay safe, or was I going to take a risk and see what was waiting for me at the old warehouse?

I looked around my study, feeling a sense of unease. Something was off, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being pulled into something much bigger than myself.

But I was determined to get answers. I stood up, my heart racing, and made my way to the door.

"Thomas," I called out, my voice low.

"Yes, sir?" Thomas replied, appearing at the door.

"I'm going to the old warehouse," I said, my eyes locked on his. "I need you to come with me."

Thomas's expression was serious, but he nodded. "I'll get the car ready, sir."

We drove to the old warehouse in silence, the only sound being the hum of the engine. I couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation as we approached the warehouse.

What was waiting for me inside?

As we pulled up to the warehouse, I could see that it was abandoned, the windows broken and the door hanging off its hinges.

Thomas turned off the engine and turned to me. "Sir, I don't think this is a good idea. We should go back to the mansion and forget about this whole thing."

But I was resolute. I had to know what was going on.

"I'll be fine, Thomas," I said, opening the door. "You stay here and keep watch. If anything happens, get out of here and don't look back."

Thomas's expression was worried, but he nodded. "Yes, sir. Be careful."

I stepped out of the car and approached the warehouse, my heart racing with anticipation. What was waiting for me inside?

As I pushed open the creaky door, I was met with darkness. I fumbled in my pocket for my phone and turned on the flashlight app, casting a weak beam of light into the warehouse.

The warehouse was empty, except for a few crates and boxes scattered around the floor. I walked deeper into the warehouse, my eyes scanning the area for any sign of life.

And then, I saw it. A piece of paper on the floor, with a message scrawled on it.

"Welcome, Elvis. I've been waiting for you."

I spun around, but there was no one there. The warehouse was empty, except for me.

I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized that I was not alone. Someone was watching me, waiting for me to make my next move.

And then, I heard it. A faint noise, coming from the back of the warehouse. It sounded like footsteps, light and cautious.

I turned to face the sound, my heart racing with anticipation. Who was coming for me?

As the footsteps grew louder, I could see a figure emerging from the shadows. It was a woman, tall and slender, with long black hair and piercing green eyes.

She approached me cautiously, her eyes locked on mine. And then, she spoke.

"Elvis Kain, I've been waiting for you."
