Chapter 1: The Boy From The Sky.
Loud heavy steps are heard from a hallway until suddenly, a loud bang is heard and a door flies open. A big-boned man burst through the doors.
"Samael I want those crates at Band's by yesterday or you're fired!"
Behind the crates is a tall darkskinned boy with dark hair, pointed ears and a defeated look in his eye , he keeps his head down and while mumbling to himself
"I hate this job."
The boy begins to place the crates onto a carrier and pulls them off. The boy begins to ponder to himself.
"Why am I here? Do I need this job? What if I just left the crates? Is it even worth it?"
He stops himself and snaps back into reality.
"You need this job to make money, you need money to eat, sleep, and survive be logical and stop with these thoughts."
The boy continues to work until the moon takes its place in the sky, bringing crates back and forth and finally heading to bed. Samael enters his house, it's organized but cluttered at the same time. Like a controlled room of chaos littered with various books about literature and spears but due to exhaustion after a long day, he disregards the mess and falls into the embrace of his bed, finally obtaining his well deserved rest.
Until he is suddenly woken up by a loud crashing sound. Debris and dust begin to fill his house as his roof collapses upon itself, after a few moments, the storm of dust settles to reveal a boy. A boy with dark skin, pointed ears, and white hair. This boy who happens to be laying on the floor. Thoughts begin to flood Samaels brain
"Why me? Why my house? Is it alive?"
The boy on the ground begins to move and lets out a pained groan.
"Food, please."
Samael moves the boy to his bed and begins to gather ingredients.
"I'm so evicted."
*Samael's simple recipe for scrambled Rosland Bird eggs*
-Crack two 2 Roseland Bird eggs into a bowl (remove the white parts and any shell, make sure to keep those)
-A pinch of salt
-Half a tablet of Dark Elf Magi
-A spoon of Dark Elf Apis
-Renial cow milk(for fluffiness, optional)
-Mix well(not too much or it will be too watery)
-Oil to a steel pan on a medium flame(throw an onion in and when it turns brown the oil is ready)
-Carefully pour the mix in and scramble well with a spatula
-Calm the flame until it's low and small and scramble the eggs some more
-Put out the flame, plate well, and all done.
"I can't believe I'm making eggs in the middle of the night."
Samael mutters under his breath. Suddenly, the plate that was once in his hand disappeared, and within seconds the food disappeared as well. He heard the sound of a vile creature scoffing down the eggs he just made.
The creature, after absolutely eviscerating the plate of eggs, burps.
"Those were so good! Thank you very much."
The boy said as he begins to ponder in thought. Samael points toward the massive hole in his roof. "So about that?"
"Oh sorry, let me introduce myself."
The boy stands up stemming with enthusiasm
"I'm Ezra, Ezra Larind-"
Samael cuts Ezra off
"Samael Grimriore. I asked for a solution to my current problem, not your name."
Ezra smirks while reaching into his clothes
"Well, that's just what I was getting to!"
Ezra pulls out a large glistening bag of platinum.
"Help me leave this place and this is all yours"
*Ezra's quick guide to the currency of man*
Copper(the lowest form of currency)
1 Silver=100 copper
1 gold=100 silver
1 platinum=100 gold
"This is the current acceptable currency in most societies including that of men and dwarves."
Samael is baffled at the sight of the bag, he's never seen so much money in his life.
"Are you a thief?"
Ezra giggles to himself a while crossing his arms.
"No! I'm actually from a very wealthy family."
Ezra embarrassingly looks away.
"But we do have a long list of enemies, and apparently this settlement is one of them. Which is why I'm asking for your help."
Samael shoots a confused look towards Ezra
"Apparently?"
Ezra scratches his head in embarrassment.
"I didn't know the Larind weren't welcome here."
Samael takes and deep breath in and composes himself. convincing himself that it isn't worth it to get annoyed.
"Ok, so how did you fall from the sky?"
"A bird kidnapped me."
"…What?"
"A bird kidnapped me. When I approached the gate the guards began to chase me and then a giant bird swooped me up and eventually dropped me."
Samael just looks disappointed now .
"Ok, if your family is as noble and prestigious as you say it is why are you here? I heard most noble children stay sheltered until succession and only interact with other noble children."
Ezra puffs his chest out and proudly puts his thumb to his chest
"Well, that's because I ran away!"
Samael's disappointment turns into disbelief
"Did you have shelter?"
"Yup."
"Did you have to pay unreasonable taxes?"
"Nuh-uh."
"Did you have food?"
"Well of course."
Samael falls into his bed with a dumbfounded look on his face.
"You had everything you ever wanted, and no need for worry. So why did you leave such a place?"
Ezra takes a seat next to Samael and stares at the moon through the hole in the roof. The moon gleams down creating a ray of light that shines onto Ezra, coating him in moonlight.
"I didn't like it. Don't get me wrong I'm very grateful for the conditions I was born in, but it was the same, every day. I woke up and did the same things, spoke to the same people, and repeated that cycle every day. It came to a point where I couldn't even imagine anything outside of that daily agenda, and to me, that isn't living."
Samael stares at Ezra in even more disbelief
"I still don't get it."
Ezra jumps up from the bed and holds out the bag of platinum in front of Samael.
"It's fine, everyone prefers something different. Anyways, how about my offer?"
Samael snatches the bag and sighs.
"Let's get this over with."
Morning comes and the plan is set in motion. Samael grabs a crate and places it onto his carrier.
"Get in the crate."
Ezra gets into the cramped crate, with a look of disbelief.
"You could at least ask nicely."
Samael pulls the carrier to the settlement gates and begins to place them onto the carriages.
"Be careful this load is heavy,"
The worker sucks his teeth.
"Damn showoff, you're good to go, straight to Noelle. And you! No funny stops this time!"
The horse rider scoffs in return and nods his head.
"Yeah yeah."
Without a second to spare, Samael dashes to the office of noble houses.
"I'd like to apply for nobility."
The already tired accountant gives Samael an unwelcoming smile and tightens her fist. "One can't just apply for nobility, it must be earned through great merit or wealth-"
Samael cuts her sentence off and slams the bag of platinum onto the table, The woman is taken aback by this action and begins to stutter.
"Right away sir!"
Later that night Samael was recognized as nobility almost immediately.
Three days. Samael lived three days as a noble and realized his life was the same as before the nobility. He still has to work, he still hates his boss, and he isn't enjoying any part of it. Suddenly Ezra's words began to make sense to him.
"That bitch."
So, for the first time in a while. Samael made an impulsive decision.
Samael runs to the blacksmith, he buys a spear, some armor, and a satchel.
"Now I need bread."
He mutters to himself as he storms towards the bakery and buys as much bread as can fit in his satchel.
Samael rushes towards the settlement gates and books a carriage.
"Straight to Noelle please!"
The carriage speeds off following the brick path until it changes into a more grassy and plant-life-filled environment
As he sat in the carriage, Samael has one final thought before dozing off. "I'm glad I did everything faster than I could think."
Samael finally falls asleep, later he is woken up to the sound of knocking wood.
"Wake up kid we're here."
Samael grabs his things and thanks the rider. He begins to stroll through the town. The town is ringing with beauty, vibrant colors at every turn, kids playing through the streets, merchants being haggled with, a whole new world compared to the dull old settlement he used to live in. Samael continues his stroll until he reaches a tavern.
"Sen's Daydream"
Samael hesitates, but as he walks in the door comes flying off with a person following soon behind it.
And there through the broken door, Samael sees him. With dark skin, white long hair, and a cup of mead in his hand standing on a table with the widest smile on his face.
Ezra Larind.
"The Boy From The Sky."
