Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Harvest
With a wave of his hand, Lin Yuan conjured a ball of blue flame that illuminated the dark cave around them. The warm blue flames dispelled the darkness of the cave and the chill of the night. The little medical fairy looked at Lin Yuan's summoned flames with a hint of longing in her eyes.
Lin Yuan turned to the little medical fairy and invited her, "After working so hard for so long, it's finally time to reap the rewards. Let's see what treasures this cave holds."
With that, Lin Yuan walked deeper into the cave. The little medical fairy hesitated for a moment, bit her silver teeth, and then stepped forward to closely follow Lin Yuan.
The two of them walked through the deep cave for more than ten minutes, and before they knew it, the little medical fairy was walking side by side with Lin Yuan.
As they progressed, Lin Yuan, under the glow of the blue flames, took a keen interest in examining the cave. His relaxed demeanor eased the tension in the little medical fairy, allowing her to relax as well. Although they were in a deep cave, she felt a rare sense of safety beside Lin Yuan.
Eventually, they stopped in front of a stone door that emitted a faint yellow light.
Lin Yuan approached the stone door, extending his soul power to quickly discern the mechanisms and structures around it. However, instead of opening the mechanism or breaking the stone door directly, he took two steps back and looked at the little medical fairy.
"Little medical fairy, do you know how to operate mechanisms?" Lin Yuan asked.
"I've read some books on mechanisms, but I'm not proficient," the little medical fairy replied.
"Oh?" Lin Yuan waved his hand, looking at the little medical fairy with a mischievous smile, "Then you can open this stone door. I'll distribute the treasures based on how quickly you can open it."
"With your strength, you should be able to easily open this stone door. Wouldn't it be faster to just do it yourself?" The little medical fairy looked at Lin Yuan with some confusion.
"Because I suddenly had a whim and wanted to see a beautiful woman work for me. Since you're here, it naturally falls to you," Lin Yuan said, his serious tone laced with amusement.
"You..." Hearing Lin Yuan's words, the little medical fairy didn't know what to say. However, the boy's mischievousness made her feel much more at ease. For her, interacting with a mischievous youth was far more comfortable than with a genius or a powerful person.
The little medical fairy didn't resist. She walked to the side of the stone door, gently touched it with her delicate hand, and then began to move slowly, busying herself. Lin Yuan crossed his arms and watched the beautiful figure work, quietly using a recording stone to capture the scene.
"I found it." Just as Lin Yuan was estimating the little medical fairy's slender waist, her delighted voice reached his ears.
The little medical fairy squatted down beside the stone door, gently pressing a subtle protrusion at the bottom of the door. With a creaking sound, the stone door slowly rose, and a faint light emanated from within. Before long, the stone door was fully opened.
The little medical fairy turned to Lin Yuan, raised her snow-white chin, and smiled, "Here, it's open. Let's go in."
Walking up to the little medical fairy, Lin Yuan patted her shoulder and praised, "Well done. As a reward, I'll give you an extra gold coin later."
With that, Lin Yuan stepped into the stone chamber, and the little medical fairy took a deep breath before following him.
Once they entered the stone door, a vast and bright scene unfolded before them.
It was a huge stone chamber, empty and desolate, with moonlight stones embedded in the walls illuminating the space. In the center of the chamber sat a skeleton on a large chair, which looked somewhat eerie, causing the little medical fairy to unconsciously move closer to Lin Yuan.
In front of the chair was a long green stone platform, on which were three locked stone boxes.
Around the corners of the stone chamber were piles of gold coins and treasures, and in one corner, a small flowerbed contained many medicinal herbs that emitted a fragrant aroma. The little medical fairy's eyes lit up as she ran toward it.
"Purple-blue leaves, white spirit ginseng fruit, snow lotus seeds... and even ice spirit flame grass!" The little medical fairy exclaimed, naming the herbs as she looked at the flowerbed.
"Oh? It seems your basic knowledge of herbs is quite solid," Lin Yuan teased, twirling the key he had just obtained. Meanwhile, the biggest goal of this trip, the residual map of the Pure Lotus Demon Fire hidden in the skeleton's crevices, was already safely stored in his spatial ring, putting him in a good mood.
Hearing this, the little medical fairy glanced at Lin Yuan, her tone filled with pride, "I'm the best doctor in Qingshan Town, so it's only natural to have this level of knowledge about herbs. It's a pity I don't have the qualifications to be an alchemist." As she spoke, a hint of sadness crept into her voice, as her dream had always been out of reach.
"Clap, clap!"
Lin Yuan clapped his hands, interrupting the little medical fairy's melancholic mood. When she looked at him with a somewhat speechless expression, he turned the key and said with a smile, "Stop, stop! Don't let this moment of treasure hunting be spoiled by sadness. Come on, let's open the treasure boxes!"
Lin Yuan directly pulled the little medical fairy to the green stone platform, and she couldn't help but show curiosity as she looked at the three stone boxes before them.
"Get ready to open the treasure boxes."
Under the little medical fairy's expectant gaze, Lin Yuan first opened the left stone box, revealing a blue scroll.
"Mm, advanced Xuan-level fighting skill, Roaring Lion's Song."
The little medical fairy's eyes brightened at the mention of an advanced Xuan-level fighting skill; it was her first time seeing one.
"Here," Lin Yuan tossed the scroll toward the little medical fairy, watching her fumble to catch it, a smile of delight appearing on his face.
The little medical fairy shot Lin Yuan a playful glare, carefully holding the scroll in her hands as she quietly watched him open the next stone box.
Next, Lin Yuan opened the right stone box, revealing a black scroll. A line of small characters caught his eye on the side of the scroll.
"Advanced Xuan-level flying fighting skill: Eagle's Wing. Hmm, a rare flying fighting skill; this is worth studying."
"Flying fighting skill? What is that?" The little medical fairy blinked in confusion, her curiosity piqued.
"As the name suggests, it's a fighting skill that allows someone whose cultivation hasn't reached the Dou Wang level to fly in the sky. It's quite rare. Do you want it?" Lin Yuan explained, tossing the scroll in his hand and raising an eyebrow at the little medical fairy.
"Are you willing to give this to me?" The little medical fairy asked, a hint of surprise in her voice.
"Of course not. I want to study the flying fighting skill," Lin Yuan's tone changed abruptly, decisively refusing as he saw the little medical fairy's expression brighten.
The little medical fairy was taken aback, then fell silent, simply gazing at Lin Yuan with her clear eyes. Lin Yuan met her gaze with a smile, and they stared at each other as if in a standoff, neither willing to look away first. After a while, the little medical fairy finally averted her gaze, her face slightly flushed.
Clearing her throat a couple of times, the little medical fairy composed herself and said seriously, "There's still one box left. Hurry up and open it."
"Looks like the little medical fairy's tone has become more casual. It seems I've achieved my goal of getting closer to her; I can barely consider her a friend now," Lin Yuan thought to himself, deciding not to tease the little medical fairy further. He walked to the last stone box, preparing to open it.
