Chapter 296: Chapter 293: This Woman is Too Cruel
After Taylor and Selena left the villa one after another, with nearly three thousand square feet of space, only Link was left alone. He suddenly felt somewhat empty and lonely.
Meow~
Meredith stepped on the soft lawn and meowed at him.
Link squatted down and petted the soft, fluffy head of the cat. Fortunately, Taylor left in a hurry and didn't take the two cats; otherwise, he would be the only living thing left in the house.
He picked up Meredith and went back into the villa, filled the cat bowl with cat food and milk, and then found the lazy Olivia lying on the sofa on the balcony. He watched as the two little ones ate the cat food bit by bit.
While the two were eating, he took out his phone and took a photo to send to Taylor, urging her to come back soon because Olivia and Meredith couldn't live without her.
Taylor didn't respond.
Over an hour later, when he was handling company documents in the study, a car horn sounded outside the villa. Taylor's assistant, Emily, got out of the car, followed by a van and four workers.
Emily told him she was there to take the two cats and some other of Taylor's belongings.
"Emily, Taylor said she needs time to adjust. Once she's adjusted, she'll come back. Why are you taking everything?" Link asked, coming to the door.
"Link, this is Taylor's order. There's no point in telling me," Emily said helplessly.
Link called Taylor, but the call didn't go through. He suspected that his number had been blocked by Taylor, feeling a bit cold inside. Taylor was too ruthless; once she made up her mind, she severed ties cleanly, leaving no chance.
"Emily, can I use your phone to call Taylor?" Link asked.
"I need to ask Taylor first," Emily said.
Emily made a call to Taylor and then told Link that Taylor didn't want to talk to him for the time being.
Link was helpless and had to let Emily take Taylor's things. Her wardrobe, shoe cabinet, bag cabinet, makeup cabinet, trophy cabinet, oven, and two cats—all of these filled an entire truck.
When everything was packed up, Link found that apart from the gym equipment, there wasn't much in the villa that belonged to him. Once Taylor's things were taken away, the entire villa felt empty.
"Emily, call Annie and tell her I want to visit Taylor. Ask if it's convenient," Link said, standing on the lawn.
"Taylor isn't staying in her downtown apartment. Not long ago, she bought a villa in Beverly Hills, initially intended for Annie and Tom. Now, she's staying there," Emily explained.
Link felt a bit irritated, "Call and tell her I want to visit and have a serious talk. Ask if she agrees."
"Okay," Emily hesitated for a moment and then called Mrs. Andrea. After consulting Taylor, Mrs. Andrea said tomorrow at noon would be fine.
After sending off Emily and her crew, Link thought about many things, recalling the girl who bandaged his leg on the island, and the bits and pieces of their time together. He felt complex emotions, unable to focus on the documents in his hand.
He changed into workout clothes, went to the gym, and lifted a 300-pound barbell over a hundred times, training until his arm muscles strained. Then he jumped rope with a 60-pound weight for an hour, nearly exhausting his calf muscles, and finally punched a sandbag until it broke.
When he emerged from the gym, drenched in sweat, the sky was already dark, a bright moon shining over the vast sea, shadows of trees in the botanical garden ahead, occasionally disturbed by the playful birds.
But inside his villa, it was silent, not even a cat's meow.
While soaking in the bath, he saw over a dozen missed calls and more than thirty messages. The calls were from Mrs. Mandy, Ivanka, Catherine, Selena, Paul Walker, and others. The messages were from the same people.
Mrs. Mandy asked what had happened with Taylor; there were news reports online about their breakup. If they hadn't broken up, he should clarify, otherwise, the media would assume they had split.
Others were inquiring about the news, asking if he wanted to go out for a drink.
Link selectively replied to a few messages, put down his phone, and picked up his tablet to browse while lying in the bathtub.
Since returning to Los Angeles, he had become the most watched person in the entertainment industry. Many reporters and paparazzi were staking out around the villa, observing every move between him and Taylor.
Even the fact that Mrs. Mandy, Mrs. Andrea, and Catherine left the villa one after another around 1 PM was promptly reported online.
Around 3 PM, when Taylor left the villa, it triggered a frenzy of paparazzi. They even photographed the luggage Taylor took with her.
From that moment on, the media speculated they had broken up and were facing a split.
By around 6 PM, after the moving company's truck left the Bay Villa area, reports of their breakup peaked online, with words like "confirmed," "100% certain," and "witnessed" being used to hype the story.
Searching "Link Taylor breakup" on Google yielded 137,000 results, with articles, videos, and pictures, dominating the top three hot spots on all news websites.
Tonight was like a feast for all the gossip mongers.
When Link opened Twitter, his followers had surged from 21 million to 35.47 million within ten days due to the impact of the scandal video, making him the first Twitter user to surpass 30 million followers. His tweets often received more attention than the front pages of many major newspapers.
"We didn't break up. Stop spreading rumors."
After posting the tweet, the likes, comments, and retweets grew exponentially. Within five minutes, there were over three thousand comments.
"Link, stop lying. The moving truck already came. It's clear Taylor dumped you. Accept reality."
"Scumbag Link, happy breakup!"
"Taylor is so cool. That's how you deal with scumbags—one strike and you're done, no second chances."
"Mr. Becker, I still believe that tweeting at night is not a good habit."
"Link, you brought this on yourself. Having such a great girlfriend like Taylor and still fooling around outside. Men are all the same."
"Link, don't be sad. We'll always support you."
Link browsed through the comments, most of which were mocking and criticizing him.
There were also a few comments expressing regret, thinking the two were well-matched and it was a shame to see them break up, advising Link to take action and win Taylor back.
In response to one experienced-sounding commenter, Link asked how he could get his girlfriend to forgive him.
Seeing Link himself in the comment section caused a frenzy among fans, who flocked to give him advice.
Suggestions ranged from sending a car full of roses or tulips, a big diamond, taking Taylor to see the ocean, to more extreme ones like wall-slamming her and bringing her back, or even cutting off a limb to show remorse.
The ideas were all over the place, with none being practical.
Link stopped looking at the nonsense from the fans, got out of the bathtub, put on his pajamas, and decided to sleep under the moonlight tonight.
