Bloodline Evolution System: Reign of the Dragon Snake

Chapter 427 Turtle girl

The warmth enveloped her like a protective cocoon, unfamiliar yet comforting. Tang Yue's battered body instinctively relaxed, her golden eyes flickering open for a fleeting moment as she tried to identify the source.

A figure loomed above her, a silhouette blurred by exhaustion and the fading light of the battlefield.

"Who…" she managed to whisper, her voice weak, barely audible over the distant echoes of destruction.

"Don't talk," the voice chided, tinged with exasperation but softened by undeniable concern. The figure crouched beside her, their hands glowing faintly with a healing light that seeped into her broken form.

The warmth radiated through her veins, soothing the agonizing pain that wracked her body. "You're insane, you crazy bitch. Absolutely insane. But I'd expect nothing less." The voice was familiar, tugging at the edges of her memory and yet she couldn't place who it was.

"You taught that idiot a good lesson. He was growing too arrogant. Puha! You should have looked at his face when you without a hint of dao overpowered his big ass with sheer brute force."

"But of course, you had the draconic fire. Without it, you would have never won no matter how much you tried. Draconic fire has traces of ancient dao interwoven within them even in their unawakened state."

Tang Yue did not understand. What was this woman talking about?

Tang Yue's brow furrowed, confusion flickering in her golden eyes as she struggled to focus. The soothing warmth dulled her pain, but the words of the figure before her sparked an unease that refused to fade. "What... are you saying?" she murmured, her voice barely more than a breath.

The figure chuckled, a sound rich with amusement and mischief. "Don't strain yourself trying to figure it out now. You'll drive that stubborn brain of yours mad. Just listen." The glow of the healing light intensified, knitting together her frayed essence and battered body with an ease that made Tang Yue's draconic instincts bristle with suspicion.

"Who are you?" Tang Yue demanded, her voice gaining a shred of its usual fire. Though her strength was still returning, her spirit remained defiant. The familiarity of the woman's voice gnawed at her, teasing her memory yet refusing to reveal its source.

The figure tilted her head, the faint glow illuminating the sharp curve of a smile. "Still sharp, even when you're on the edge of collapse. Good. I'd hate to think the great devouring queen would lose her edge so quickly."

The words stung, and Tang Yue narrowed her eyes. "Answer me."

The woman sighed, her hands pulling away as the healing light dimmed. "Impatient as always," she muttered, standing and stepping into the faint light of the broken battlefield.

Her figure became clearer now, tall and imposing, with dark, flowing hair and piercing green eyes that seemed to hold the weight of countless lifetimes. She was stunningly beautiful, every single feature sparking perfection but there was something off about her.

The next second Tang Yue's eyes widened as she saw a green shell on the back of the woman. Not an armor or a shield but an actual shell woven into her body.

"I go by many names," the woman began, her tone both playful and dismissive, "but you can call me… turtle girl… like you always did."

Tang Yue blinked slowly, her golden eyes narrowing as she tried to focus on the enigmatic woman before her. The mention of "turtle girl" stirred something deep within her, a faint echo of familiarity buried beneath layers of exhaustion and pain.

Her mind fought to grasp the thread of memory, but it slipped through her fingers like water, leaving only fragments of a distant past she couldn't fully recall.

"I…" Tang Yue tried to speak, but the words caught in her throat. Her body felt heavy, her thoughts sluggish, yet the woman's commanding tone cut through the fog like a blade.

"Stop talking," the woman interrupted sharply, her piercing green eyes narrowing as she crouched down once more. Her hands resumed their glowing, restorative work, pouring warmth and vitality back into Tang Yue's battered form.

"I told you to meditate, not babble. You've just faced one of the most dangerous beings in these lands and survived. But the question is, why? What was different? What did you feel?"

Tang Yue closed her eyes, her instincts reluctantly yielding to the woman's instructions. The battlefield around her faded into the background, the lingering echoes of destruction giving way to an eerie stillness within her mind.

She focused on her last battle—the clash of fire and void, the spiraling sigils, the overwhelming gravity, and the way her flames had finally pierced through it all.

"What was different…" she murmured, her voice trailing off as the memory sharpened. Her draconic fire had roared brighter, hotter than ever before as if something deep within her bloodline had awakened.

"Ah, you dum dum. Fine. Eat like always and take it all!"

The next second something rocky was shoved inside Tang Yue's mouth. However, as soon as it entered her, it dissolved into a soothing essence. Tang Yue's body reverted to her beast form, a long serpentine form and she jolted as the soothing essence coursed through her, spreading warmth that filled every fiber of her being. The pain that had wracked her moments before faded, replaced by a vibrant, pulsating energy. It wasn't just healing—it was transformation, a renewal that touched the deepest parts of her core.

She gasped, her golden eyes snapping open to meet the amused gaze of the woman before her. "What… what did you just do?" Tang Yue demanded, her voice still hoarse but laced with suspicion and an edge of her returning strength.

The woman smirked, leaning back with a satisfied expression. "You're welcome, by the way. That was a fragment of the abyssal clam core you destroyed. Close your eyes and meditate. I will feed you more. This prey is different from the rest. If you don't focus, you will lose everything."
