Chapter 50: BOWL OF BLOOD
Florah sat upright abruptly. Her horrified hazel eyes were met with sharp red ones that stared straight into her soul.
The poor girl was at a loss of what to say as yesterday's memories flooded in her mind, leaving her tongue tied.
She hurriedly got out of the King's bed, standing beside the bed with her heart beating at an alarming pace.
She didn't try to form any excuse for herself because she didn't know where to even start.
'She had just woken up in the King's bed.'
How did that even occur? The last she remembered was her wallowing on the couch.
She discreetly checked her clothes, hoping that nothing had happened.
The man was looking at her in silence, which unnerved her more.
Peeking at the bed, she had an idea, grabbing a pillow, she started fluffing it.
Doing the action over and over with other pillows on the bed, she neatly arranged them on the upper side of the bed after tucking the bed sheet back in the mattress.
Putting the duvet aside, she started to make the bed seriously.
In a few minutes,Florah was done making the bed and neatly at that.
All the while, she tried to ignore the sharp gaze following her movements, but the gaze only got intense when she turned her back.
She had seen the book on the bedside table that had interesting words on its cover, but her brain was too consumed by the king to even think of anything else.
Gavriel's eyes followed the girl's movements, not leaving her even for a second.
Her loud heartbeat somehow excited him to mess with her, but he kept it for later.
He noticed how she peeked at the book and smirked with interest.
He was taking everything slow because he had a hunch that whatever he was to uncover about the girl wouldn't be a light matter.
After she was done, she attempted to brush everything away by acting normal.
"Good morning, your majesty," Florah bowed while greeting the King, hoping and praying that he would just play along and pretend nothing had happened.
Tilting his head a bit, he said sarcastically, "Now you see me," Florah just stared down quietly in embarrassment.
'Of course he wouldn't play along,' she sadly thought.
"Two minutes, go freshen up and come back," Gavriel commanded.
Florah happily obliged, wanting to get out of the King's eye's reach.
Hurriedly entering the bathroom, she looked around the room, which was easier given that all the windows were opened, letting in natural light.
The bathroom was grand, having big windows by either side. The bathtub sectioned in the middle was almost like a small pool of water in her eyes.
Two black and white marble sinks were standing by the right side, near the windows.
She walked towards one of them, turning the faucet for clear water to flow out.
She knew all of this because of Jeremiah.
One night, they spent time in an Inn for his birthday.
She remembered that instead of celebrating, the vampire spent his time teaching her how to read and write.
He taught her every little thing that she was curious about, which included the inn's bathroom and the other appliances in the room they stayed at.
Then she was annoyed by it because she thought they would be celebrating him but he instead tutored her.
Right now, like the many other times she had been in the castle, she used his knowledge to carry out different tasks.
Gavriel sat with his legs crossed by his dining table. Hearing the water flow in the bathroom, he smirked.
He kept on testing the girl with small things here and there, and she her actions kept on contradicting her supposed background.
Florah washed her face and rinsed her mouth in a hurry.
She excited the bathroom, walking timidly to stand at a distance from the king.
"How are you going to feed me by standing there?" The king rose a brow while he asked
Florah got the message and went closer to his side. This time, she carried the other chair to him.
Sitting on it, she opened the one dish that was prepared.
"Huuuuhh!" A gasp escaped Florah's mouth because the bowl before her contained a red liquid, which she perceived to be blood.
