BLOOD OATHS:THE BOND FAR FROM BLOOD AND SOUL

Chapter 7: chapter 7:Cigarettes and Schemes

The dim, golden light of a setting sun filtered through the cracks in the decrepit warehouse's roof, casting long shadows over the room. DNS stood at the center of the space, a cigarette dangling loosely between his lips. Smoke curled upwards, disappearing into the rafters. The room was tense, alive with the silent hum of anticipation. Around him, his closest allies were gathered: Neel, Roxy, Anthony, and Kyan, each wearing expressions ranging from calm focus to guarded suspicion.

This wasn't just any meeting. This was war.

Kiran, the young but enigmatic insider of Kazuma's syndicate, stood at the opposite end of the room. His eyes darted nervously between DNS and Neel. The weight of their stares bore down on him like a mountain. DNS took a long drag of his cigarette before speaking, his voice low but carrying the authority of a man who'd seen hell and survived.

"You've been feeding me information for months, Kiran. And now you're asking us to believe you can lead us straight to Kazuma's throat? Forgive me if I'm a little skeptical."

Kiran swallowed hard, his throat dry. "I'm risking my life just being here, DNS. I could have run. I could have stayed with Kazuma. But I didn't. I want to see him fall just as much as you do."

"Convenient," Neel interjected, his arms crossed. His voice was sharp, almost biting. "You decide to switch sides now, right when Kazuma's elite forces are sniffing around our turf like hungry dogs?"

Kiran raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. "I get it. You don't trust me. But Kazuma's planning something big—bigger than you think. He's moving weapons, supplies, and men into position. If you don't act now, he'll crush the Vajra Syndicate."

Roxy stepped forward, her gaze piercing. "And how exactly do you know all this, Kiran? You're barely more than a grunt in Kazuma's organization. Why would he let you anywhere near his plans?"

Kiran hesitated, and DNS took another drag of his cigarette, exhaling a cloud of smoke that seemed to fill the silence.

"Answer her," DNS said, his tone dangerously calm.

Kiran looked at the floor. "I overheard it during a meeting. They don't think much of me, so they didn't care if I was around."

A tense silence followed. The room's air grew heavier, the weight of doubt pressing down on everyone.

Neel broke the silence, his voice laced with frustration. "This could be a trap, DNS. Kazuma's not stupid. He'd use someone like Kiran to bait us into making a mistake."

DNS finally extinguished his cigarette on the edge of a nearby table. His eyes locked onto Kiran with an intensity that made the younger man flinch. "Maybe it is a trap. But maybe it's not. Either way, we don't sit around and wait for Kazuma to make the first move. That's not how the Vajra Syndicate works."

Kyan, who had been silent up to this point, stepped forward. His tone was thoughtful, measured. "If what Kiran says is true, then Kazuma's stockpiling weapons in the Shinjuku district. That's the perfect place for an ambush, but it's also heavily guarded. We'll need more than brute force to pull this off."

DNS nodded. "Then we hit them where it hurts. Roxy, take your Blazing Fangs and scout the area. Kyan, I want your Shadow Ravens gathering every scrap of intel you can find on Kazuma's movements. Neel and Anthony, prepare your divisions for combat. If this is going to be a fight, we'll make damn sure it's on our terms."

As his commanders nodded and began discussing their roles, DNS lit another cigarette, his mind already racing ahead.

Later that evening, DNS stood alone on the rooftop of the warehouse, looking out over the city. The cigarette in his hand glowed faintly in the dark, a small beacon of light against the vast, shadowy skyline.

He heard footsteps behind him and turned to see Lily approaching. She wore a concerned expression, her arms crossed against the cool night air.

"You're smoking more than usual," she said softly, leaning against the railing beside him.

DNS smirked faintly, taking another drag. "Stressful day."

Lily sighed, her gaze fixed on the horizon. "You're pushing yourself too hard, DNS. You've already accomplished so much. You don't have to carry this all on your shoulders."

DNS didn't reply immediately. Instead, he stared at the cigarette in his hand, watching the smoke spiral upward. "Kazuma's not just another enemy, Lily. He's dangerous. Ruthless. If I slip up, even once, he'll destroy everything we've built."

Lily reached out, placing a hand on his arm. "You're not alone in this. You have Neel, Roxy, Anthony… me. Trust us to help you."

DNS finally looked at her, his expression softening. "I do trust you, Lily. More than anyone."

The next night, the Syndicate was in motion. Roxy's Blazing Fangs had returned with detailed maps of the Shinjuku district, highlighting key locations where Kazuma's forces were concentrated. Kyan's Shadow Ravens had intercepted encrypted messages that confirmed Kiran's information: Kazuma was planning a major strike.

In the dimly lit command room, DNS stood at the head of a long table, surrounded by his commanders. The atmosphere was electric, the air crackling with tension and anticipation.

"Here's the plan," DNS began, his cigarette resting on the edge of an ashtray. "We divide into three teams. Neel and the Phantom Blades will take the south entrance. Anthony and the Titan Brotherhood will create a diversion at the north. Roxy and I will lead the main assault through the west. Kyan, you'll coordinate from here, feeding us intel in real time."

"What about me?" Kiran asked hesitantly.

DNS's gaze flicked to him. "You're coming with me. If this is a trap, I want you where I can see you."

Kiran nodded, his face pale but determined.

The Syndicate struck just before dawn. The quiet streets of Shinjuku erupted into chaos as Neel's Phantom Blades swept through the south entrance, their movements swift and precise. Anthony's Titan Brotherhood roared into the north, their sheer strength overwhelming the initial wave of Kazuma's guards.

From the west, DNS and Roxy led the charge, their forces tearing through the defenses like a storm. DNS moved with the grace and ferocity of a predator, his cigarette still clenched between his teeth as he fought. Beside him, Roxy was a blur of motion, her strikes deadly and efficient.

Kiran stayed close to DNS, his nerves evident but his resolve unwavering. He pointed out hidden traps and ambushes, proving his value with every step.

As they pushed deeper into the district, the fighting grew fiercer. Kazuma's elite forces were better trained and heavily armed, but the Syndicate fought with unmatched determination.

In the heart of the battle, DNS found himself face-to-face with one of Kazuma's commanders—a towering figure clad in black armor. The man's weapon was a massive war hammer, and he wielded it with terrifying force.

DNS dodged the first swing, the hammer smashing into the ground with enough force to crack the pavement. He countered with a swift strike of his own, his blade flashing in the dim light.

The fight was brutal, each clash of steel echoing through the streets. DNS's cigarette fell to the ground, crushed underfoot as he pressed the attack. Finally, with a well-placed strike, he disarmed the commander and brought him to his knees.

Behind him, the Syndicate was gaining ground. Neel and Anthony's forces converged on the remaining guards, their combined strength too much to overcome.

As the sun rose over Shinjuku, the battle was over. Kazuma's forces had been driven back, their plans thwarted. The Syndicate stood victorious, their unity and strength shining through.

DNS lit a new cigarette as he surveyed the scene, his expression unreadable. Around him, his commanders were already discussing their next moves, their focus shifting to the future.

For DNS, the victory was just the beginning. Kazuma was still out there, a shadow looming over their hard-won success. But for now, the Syndicate had proven its power, and DNS knew they were ready for whatever came next.
