Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel

Chapter 33: -30- Sebastian's Life Goals

Regarding the origin of the Bloodline, the Mireya Continent was full of diverse opinions.

Some said it was a Bloodline Curse that came with the intermarriage and integration of the Elf Clan who set foot on the Mireya Continent for the first time three thousand years ago after fleeing their homeland.

Others claimed it originated from an Undead Legion created by an ancient deity during a war among the gods, long buried in history.

However, regardless of the legend, every origin mentioned a mysterious and grand existence.

He was described as the most ancient of the Bloodline, the source of all Bloodline descendants, a true Mythical being.

He was the Ancestor of the Bloodline, an existence revered as the True Ancestor by all Bloodline descendants.

No one knew the name of the Bloodline True Ancestor.

Some said His name was Cain, others said Lilith, some described Him as a gloomy yet elegant male, while others thought He was a beautiful female who could even captivate gods.

And yet others said that the True Ancestor never had a name.

He was Him, He was the True Ancestor.

In the era when the True Ancestor walked the earth, the Bloodline held the peak of secular power, almost every country had their shadows behind the scenes.

Until the Bloodline civil war.

No one knew what exactly happened in the Bloodline civil war two thousand years ago.

Time could drown everything, turning history into stories, stories into legends, and eventually, legends too were buried in the vast expanse of time.

People only knew that the Bloodline began to decline from that time.

The True Ancestor became a thing of the past, the Bloodline split into Six Great Clans, and began a long and brutal internal strife.

Meanwhile, the Holy Royal Court that unified the entire continent also began to rise from that moment.

To this day, only five of the six great Bloodline Clans remained.

In the Thousand-Year Holy War, the Holy Royal Court buried the past, wrote a new history, and the Bloodline was thoroughly labeled as evil, only surviving in the darkness...

The old woman's tone was gentle and ancient, recounting the secrets buried in history.

Sebastian's expression gradually turned solemn.

"Then... what about the Bloodline True Ancestor? Where did He go?"

he asked.

"I don't know..."

The old woman shook her head.

"Some say He was betrayed by His own descendants and thus fell, others say He disappeared, and some say He grew disheartened and tired of His deity status, and banished Himself..."

"But, there has always been an ancient prophecy among the Bloodline—"

The old woman paused, her expression turned serious, and slowly said:

"When the Ancestor returns, He will ultimately reclaim His Divine Throne, and all traitors will receive their due punishment!"

Sebastian's heart skipped a beat, and he fell silent.

After a moment, he faintly said:

"That means... He will return one day?"

"That I do not know, I am just an old woman about to be buried, and as for this ancient prophecy... truthfully, even many in the Bloodline no longer believe it."

The old woman chuckled.

But as she spoke, her expression turned stern again:

"However, even if a lost Mythical figure returns, it won't be an easy task to ascend back to the Divine Throne, he will certainly face all sorts of difficulties..."

"A slight misstep, and he could fail."

"Of course, if He truly returns, then... in this era where the True Gods are in hiding, it will surely trigger a storm that sweeps across the entire world!"

"Some will benefit from this, and might even follow His footsteps to ascend to the Divine Throne."

"Some will face destruction, even... the high and mighty deities!"

Hearing the words of the old woman, a sharp glint flashed in Sebastian's eyes.

His hands instinctively clenched, then relaxed, and clenched again.

And his emotions, like a tsunami, were tumultuous, causing a surge of profound waves.

The returning deity!

The Lady of the Dark Night might very well be a returning ancient deity!

Sebastian's heart was exclaiming, roaring, trembling!

And at the same time, a certain thought was continuously churning and growing within him...

Everyone has ambitions and pursuits.

A lengthy life had left Sebastian without a life goal, except for the troubles brought by the Adam Church, and every day he was living a monotonous life.

Boring, dull, weary.

He had no interest in getting involved in any power struggles.

In his eyes, even the high and mighty Mythical figures and demi-gods revered by all beings were but remnants beneath the brilliance of the True Gods.

But now, things had changed.

He suddenly realized he might have accessed the truly magnificent beings behind this world!

Following a demigod could at most make one a legend in epics.

But following a True God, there was a chance to become a Myth inscribed on murals!

It had to be said, Sebastian was somewhat tempted.

A Myth!

That's a Myth!

That means true eternity and reverence from all beings!

If the desire in the heart was not strong enough, it was only because the temptation presented wasn't compelling enough.

Ask yourself, what temptation could be more alluring than following the steps of a True God, witnessing Him reclaiming His Divine Throne, witnessing His brilliance spreading over the land once more?

Gods never mistreat their followers.

And following a deity to achieve demi-god or even True God status was not an uncommon tale in the history and legends of the Mireya world!

The more Sebastian thought, the more his heart stirred.

He felt as though there was a flame continuously burning deep inside him, his heart thumping wildly.

He seemed to see a path he had never thought of before, never dared to hope for.

His expression constantly changed, his breathing gradually grew rapid, his cheeks flushed, his gaze steadily brightened...

Until after a long time, he gently closed his eyes and regained his composure.

When he opened his eyes again, his crimson pupils were filled with an unprecedented determination.

He had made up his mind.

He had to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, catch a ride with the Lady of the Dark Night, and see the unseen landscapes from greater heights!

At this moment, Sebastian had never been so eager for the Lady of the Dark Night's next summoning!

"Sebastian... your eyes have changed."

Looking at Sebastian's expression, the old woman showed surprise:

"I can feel that your heart no longer seems as confused as before..."

"It seems you've found your path."

"Can you tell me what you've thought of?"

Sebastian's gaze slowly fell on the old woman.

He was about to answer but suddenly he paused.

After hesitating for a moment, he gave a slight smile:

"It's nothing, just minor things."

The change in thoughts brought a change in the way of thinking.

Once he decided to follow what could possibly be the resurgence of the Bloodline True Ancestor, the Lady of the Dark Night, Sebastian found that many of his ideas had changed.

For instance, looking at the Prophet Witch standing before him with the Precognitive Eye, a hint of caution suddenly surged from deep within:

"I can't tell her about the Lady of the Dark Night!"

"Not now, at least..."

"She is too mysterious, and her abilities too magical."

"The Lady of the Dark Night is concealing her identity, clearly not wanting more people to know of Her return."

"As a summon of the Lady of the Dark Night, it is my responsibility and duty to keep Her secret!"

"Even if I were to tell Anna the Lady's secrets and bring her into the fold... that would be a matter for later, and would require the permission of the great entity!"

"I am the Lady of the Dark Night's summon, only I can be the first Favored who walks the earth for the great entity!"

Sebastian seemed to be convincing himself.

Perhaps even he couldn't entirely distinguish whether he was genuinely considering for the Lady of the Dark Night, or whether there was also a fear of someone else taking the closest position to the deity.

"The deity's return must be accompanied by omens; perhaps, I should investigate if there have been any related incidents recently on the Mireya Continent."

"I mustn't rely solely on the Lady of the Dark Night's next summoning, but should actively seek Her, approach Her, and offer my loyalty to Her!"

"I must hurry, it's imperative! I am not of the Bloodline, if the Lady finds someone in the Bloodline more to Her liking, then I will lose my advantage..."

"No, I should hurry back, investigate the cursed pages as soon as possible, and try to find more cursed pages!"

Sebastian quickly made up his mind.

Once he had decided, he couldn't sit still any longer.

He sprang to his feet elegantly and swiftly, tidied up the wine glass, and said with a proper smile:

"Miss Anna, thank you for resolving my doubts, here is your compensation for this time, please accept it."

With that, he took out a splendid ring and placed it on the table:

"I just remembered I have other matters to attend to, so I'll leave for today, and visit another time when I am free."

With those words, Sebastian hurriedly bowed to the old woman and then briskly left.

Watching his retreating figure, the old woman's gaze lingered for a long time.

After a long while, she let out a light sigh and mumbled:

"What an impolite old fox!"

But soon, she began coughing violently, her aged face taking on an unnatural pallor.

The maid Rena quickly approached her, her golden red eyes full of concern.

"Rena, I'm fine..."

The old woman gently waved her hand, her gaze towards the girl filled with tenderness.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, she gently took the girl's hands and said softly:

"Rena, you've been with me for... ten years now, haven't you?"

The girl didn't speak but nodded obediently, her adorable demeanor evoking pity.

"Ten years..."

The old woman looked nostalgic.

"Time really flies; ten years have gone by in a blink, you haven't changed a bit, but I have already grown old."

"Perhaps... this is the price of the Precognitive Eye, it gave me magical power, but it also took away much of my hope..."

The old woman sighed deeply, seemingly lost in her memories.

After a long time, she reaffirmed her grip on the girl's hands:

"Rena..."

This time, her expression became unusually serious and earnest:

"If one day I am no longer here, go and find Sebastian."

Rena trembled slightly.

She looked up, her large eyes instantly filling with tears, her gaze full of pleading and reluctance.

The old woman was taken aback, then laughed:

"What's with that face? I'm not abandoning you."

With a light sigh, she said:

"It's just... I don't have much time left."

"I can't always be by your side, nor can I protect you forever..."

"But he is different..."

"I don't know what he has encountered, but... on him, I saw a new prophecy, a possibility!"

"That's not just his hope, but also yours."

"He has definitely encountered something, and the kind of power he's come across may well be what can change your fate..."

"Rena..."

"You must remember, when I'm gone, go and find him."

"I believe, the power that changed him will also bring you... a new life!"
