Chapter 350: The Dangers of Working With Your Wife

Luckily Anna didn't have any sort of injury, but that didn't mean that Malachi was alright with her little slip up.

"This is why you should have been paying attention, babe."

"Hush, I get it. I couldn't help but be distracted by the guy who thought he was about to get shish-kebabbed by you."

"Stop making that joke, it's not funny!"

"I bet everyone else is going to think so when I text them about it late- Hey, my phone!!"

"I'll be holding onto this..." Malachi put her phone in his back pocket.

"If you're going to take my phone then I'm going to take yours too!"

"Okay."

Malachi handed Anna her phone and she kind of stared at it like it was a dish she had no idea how to prepare. Or calculus.

"...I honestly am still a little traumatized from past relationships, so I wasn't expecting you to give it to me that easily." She admitted.

"Christ."

Thud. Thud.

Malachi and Anna looked up from their discussion when a large metal giant loomed above them.

The 'package' that Major Felix had requested was a giant silver exosuit that stood at a domineering twenty feet tall and possessed limbs thicker than redwood tree trunks.

Felix could barely be seen through a glass dome where the metal behemoth's head should have been.

"You in for it now, you despicable science experiments. Get ready to feel the might of the U.S.A!"

"...Cringe." Anna shook her head.

"Super cringe." Malachi nodded.

"DIE!!"

The robot raised his fists above his head and smashed them both into the ground. A surging tidal wave of ice burst out of the ground and flooded the entire room in an instant.

Malachi and Anna had little choice but to jump out the broken window to avoid becoming very good looking ice cubes. Find your next read at empire

At least partially.

"Ah, damn." Anna looked down at her leg.

Ice had formed along the length of her combat boots. If she had been even a moment slower, then it would have been the entirety of her leg instead.

"Bianca teach you how to use kinetic energy to heat up your body yet?" Mal's immediate concern was Anna potentially developing hypothermia in this fight.

"S-She tried, but I think I'm a bad student or something. I couldn't get the hang of it." Anna looked away.

Mal developed a sneaking suspicion. "She was wearing that low curt top that she loves, wasn't she? The one that always makes us late?"

"..."

"You're so easy."

"Shut up. I'm picking up bad habits from being engaged to you."

Malachi could not deny that he was also easy. It came as a side effect of being attracted to fiery older women.

A series of grenades were launched from the open window by Major Felix. Malachi lifted Anna into his arms and leapt out of the way of the blasts.

Each one was powerful, more than strong enough to knock down a city block in the time it took one to turn their head.

The entire base was quickly becoming a horrible wintery snowscape.

"Want to sit back and let me deal with this one?" Mal asked.

Anna looked offended.

"Right, no hand holding." Mal smiled apologetically.

"Good boy." Anna kissed his cheek. "Now you stay up here and look pretty for Big Mama."

Anna slipped out of Malachi's grasp again, leaving him stunned and with another poorly timed erection.

Anna dove out of the sky while wrapping her wings around herself like armor.

By rotating her body like a drill, her hardened feathers more easily deflected any projectiles hurled at her in her decent.

She slammed into the glass dome sealing Major Felix inside of his exosuit.

The man actually let out a small yelp. Anna had successfully cracked a layer of glass that was supposed to be capable of withstanding larger bomb blasts and any sort of armor piercing ammunition.

"Get away from me, you monster!" The mech's large hands grabbed at Anna and applied tremendous pressure to her much smaller frame.

As she was squeezed, more ice spread from the cold metal of the mech towards her.

The girl's wings acted like something of a protective shield, keeping her actual body free from the brunt of the cold.

Anna suddenly unfurled her wings in a powerful gesture.

The ice shattered, and Felix's grip on Anna was temporarily broken.

A storm of feathers flew off her body and filled the air. It created the optical illusion of a pair of giant red heads.

Anna made a gesture with her hand, and the false limbs dug their claws into the glass. They actually seemed to be breaking through..

"N-No!"

Felix pointed the barrel of his cannon directly at Anna's much smaller body. Invulnerable or not, a direct hit from this brand of weapon would freeze her down to her bones before she could even start the process of thawing herself.

Anna heard a roar and suddenly a flash of grey and red whizzed by her vision.

"What happened to letting me do this on my own?" Anna yelled out.

Looking down at the ground, she found Malachi holding the detached arm of the mech that had just tried to harm her.

He smiled at her charmingly. "I thought the whole point of getting married was so that we didn't have to do things by ourselves?"

Anna fought the urge to roll her eyes as her cheeks became warm. "I guess I should be thanking you the-"

"WILL YOU BOTH SHUT UP?!?"

""Fuck you!!""

Anna finally broke through the glass obstructing her from Felix. Malachi held his limbs firmly in place with tendrils of shadow while she ripped him free.

"Ready to go for a ride?" She smirked.

"Get your hands off of m-"

"Fetch!" Anna smiled giddily as she hurled Felix up into the air above her head.

He screamed for around half a second before a large black beast lunged into the air and caught the man by his head.

The duo heard a loud, unsavory crunch and the sound of Serosh's satisfied burping.

Anna jumped off the mech just as it came tumbling to the ground.

Once again, she found herself floating into Malachi's arms.

"Hey there, Big Mama." He smiled.

This time, it was Anna's turn to turn a bit red. "You better be careful calling me that, or we'll be working on baby #2 real fast."

"I don't mind that." Malachi leaned forward and kissed the beautiful young woman underneath the light of the midday sun.

Serosh sat down and watched the two consummate their love while he absentmindedly played with the arm of the recently deceased major.

'I wonder if the whole trip is going to be like this…'
