Billionaire: Money and Power

Chapter 34: Chapter 34 – "The Weight of Power"

A New Kind of Silence

Joshua sat alone in his penthouse, the city lights flickering below like scattered stars. Lagos was loud, always moving, always alive. But up here, in this moment, everything was silent.

It was a new kind of silence—the kind that came after a victory. The kind that didn't feel like a victory at all.

His phone vibrated.

Unknown Number: We need to talk.

Joshua sighed, rubbing his temple. He already knew who it was.

The Meeting That Shouldn't Happen

An hour later, he sat in a dimly lit lounge. The kind of place where deals were made in whispers. Tunde stood behind him, arms crossed.

The door opened. A woman in a sleek black dress walked in. Zainab.

Joshua raised an eyebrow. "Didn't expect you to call so soon."

She sat across from him, eyes sharp. "I wasn't planning to. But you made too much noise."

Joshua smirked. "Funny. I thought I was clean."

Zainab leaned forward. "You were. But now they know you exist."

Tunde exhaled sharply. "Who's 'they'?"

She glanced at him, then back at Joshua. "The ones watching the Order."

Joshua's smirk faded.

Zainab continued. "The Order isn't untouchable. There are forces even they fear. And you? You just stepped onto their radar."

Joshua drummed his fingers on the table. "So what do you suggest?"

She slid a small flash drive across the table. "Inside, you'll find everything you shouldn't know. Use it wisely."

Joshua picked it up, weighing it in his hand. "And what do you get out of this?"

Zainab stood. "A chance to see if you're as smart as they think you are."

She walked to the door, then paused. "Watch your back, Joshua. You're not the hunter anymore."

And then she was gone.

The Files That Change Everything

Back at the penthouse, Joshua inserted the flash drive into his laptop.

Tunde leaned over his shoulder. "You really trust her?"

Joshua didn't answer. The screen loaded.

Then, the documents opened.

His eyes moved across the text. Each sentence hit harder than the last. The Order wasn't just a secret society. It wasn't just business.

It was war.

A war fought in silence. In stock markets, in government contracts, in the currency of control.

But what caught his eye was a single file.

PROJECT NIGHTFALL.

Joshua clicked on it. A single name appeared.

His name.

The Order hadn't recruited him to join. They had recruited him to use.

The Weight of a Choice

Tunde clenched his fists. "So what now?"

Joshua closed the laptop. His mind was racing, but his voice was calm. "Now? We make sure we're not checkmated before the game even starts."

Tunde sighed. "That means what, exactly?"

Joshua stood, looking out over the city.

"It means we play both sides."

Tunde groaned. "Here we go."

Joshua smirked. "Relax. I've done worse."

Tunde gave him a look. "No, you haven't."

Joshua chuckled. "Then I guess we're about to break a record."

The city lights flickered. The silence felt heavier now.

Joshua wasn't just in the game anymore.

He was the game.
