Billionaire: Money and Power

Chapter 11: Chapter 11 – "Blood in the Water"

Eko Atlantic – A Storm Brewing

The city lights flickered against the dark waves. Joshua sat in the backseat of a black SUV, staring out at the ocean. The scent of salt and gasoline mixed in the air.

Adisa was beside him, silent. The Broker sat in the front seat, calmly lighting another cigar.

"You feel it yet?" The Broker asked, exhaling a cloud of smoke.

Joshua didn't answer. His fingers drummed against his knee.

The gunshot from last night still echoed in his head.

A life taken. His first.

"You're making waves," The Broker continued. "And waves attract sharks."

Joshua finally looked at him. "What kind of sharks?"

The Broker smirked. "The kind that want to eat you alive."

Enemies in the Dark – A Warning

The SUV pulled up to a quiet dock. A few men waited, their suits crisp, their eyes cold.

Joshua recognized one of them—Umaru Falana.

A businessman. A politician. And one of the most dangerous men in Lagos.

Umaru stepped forward, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses. "Joshua. You're causing problems."

Joshua stepped out of the car. "I prefer the term 'business.'"

Umaru chuckled. "Business is fine. Until it steps on the wrong toes."

The air was thick with tension. Adisa's hand hovered near his waistband. The Broker, however, was completely relaxed.

Umaru took a step closer. "You're young, ambitious. But ambition without caution? That's suicide."

Joshua met his gaze. "If you're here to scare me, it's not working."

Umaru studied him, then sighed. "A piece of advice—know when to swim, and when to sink."

He nodded to his men, and they left, disappearing into the night.

Joshua watched them go.

Sharks were circling.

And he had just stepped into open water.

Amara – The Distance Grows

Later that night, Joshua met Amara at her apartment.

She opened the door, arms crossed. "You've been avoiding me."

Joshua sighed. "I've been busy."

She studied him, eyes sharp. "You're different."

He didn't answer.

She took his hand, squeezing it. "I just… I don't want to lose you."

Joshua kissed her. Deep, slow. She melted into him, but something felt… off.

She pulled back. "You're not telling me everything."

He forced a smile. "I will. Just… not tonight."

She sighed but nodded.

Joshua held her close.

How long could he keep this up?

How long before the blood on his hands touched her too?

A Trap is Set – The First Betrayal

The next day, Joshua got a call. A deal. A big one.

A warehouse near Victoria Island. Midnight.

Adisa wasn't convinced. "It smells like a setup."

Joshua smirked. "Then let's be ready for it."

Midnight came fast.

The warehouse was dark. Too dark.

Joshua and Adisa stepped inside, weapons hidden under their coats.

Footsteps echoed. Too many.

Then—gunfire.

Bullets ripped through the air. Joshua ducked behind a crate, heart pounding.

"Adisa!"

"I'm good!"

Shadows moved. Men closed in. Trapped.

Joshua gritted his teeth.

If they wanted blood—he'd give it to them.
