Becoming a Star In Honkai: Star Rail!

Chapter 14: Chapter 13

On the top of a building on a distant planet, a young woman with gray hair leaned against the security railing, her fingers moving nimbly across the screen of the smartphone she was using to play some rhythm game.

She wore a short black coat along with a crop top that covered her upper body, exposing her navel. She also wore unbuttoned black shorts with a decorative piece of black and purple fabric that hung down the back, along with a white belt with a gamepad attached to it on her hip.

If anyone who hadn't been trapped in a cave for years saw her up close, they would recognize her instantly.

Her face was plastered all over IPC websites, her nickname adorned the top of the list of every online game you could find on the internet.

With a bounty of 5.1 billion credits, wanted dead or alive.

Her name, or rather, the name by which she was known was Silver Wolf.

She was about to finish the game with an "All-Perfect" score, but her concentration was slightly interrupted by the sound of footsteps echoing behind her.

In a momentary lapse of attention, she missed one of the keys with a "Great" instead of "Perfect", causing her to frown with a hint of dissatisfaction.

She would have to start again.

Turning to the newcomer, Silver Wolf regarded Kafka with a casual gaze.

Unlike Silver Wolf, Kafka was more mature and charming, a woman with wine red hair tied into a messy ponytail with two loose bangs hanging on either side of her face. Her eyes were a similar, lighter color, with pince-nez sunglasses perched atop her head.

Her white dress shirt exposed her upper back and shoulders, giving her a touch of sensual elegance, the burgundy straps with gold detailing tightening around her thighs would make one unconsciously swallow hard. Just by standing there, she exuded an intense charm.

If Michael had a chance to evaluate the Kafka Status Window, her Visual rating would be at least S+.

At first glance, no one would think that such a beautiful and elegant woman would have a bounty of 10.899 billion credits on her head.

With a charming smile lurking on the curves of her lips, Kafka leaned over the security railing next to Silver Wolf.

Kafka: "Why did you want to see me, Wolfie?"

Silver Wolfie cleared her throat, moving his fingers nimbly across the smartphone screen before handing it to Kafka, nodding his chin to indicate for her to take a look.

Curious, Kafka watched what appeared to be a video recorded by a security camera on the Herta Space Station.

The place seemed to be... The Landing Zone?

The recording conveyed in vivid detail the figure of a masked young man dancing amidst the flames alongside what appeared to be the Doomsday Beast in a shrunken state.

Kafka: "... Do you mind explaining?"

Of course, Kafka was perplexed. Stelle's silhouette could be vaguely captured in the corner of the camera along with the rest of the Astral Express crew.

But that wasn't right, this masked boy wasn't part of Elio's script, and it was Stelle, along with Dan Heng, March 7th and Himeko who were supposed to be there to fight the Doomsday Beast, leading that girl to receive HIS gaze.

Silver Wolfie shook his head, equally ignorant of the details.

Silver Wolfie: "I'm not sure either. Elio didn't give me any details about what might be going on, he just said we'd have to review the script and check the situation more... closely."

Kafka raised an eyebrow slightly with newfound curiosity.

Kafka: "Interesting..."

Something that could escape Elio's script, to the point that he would have to revise it.

The Son of Destiny must have never encountered this situation, right?

It was worth taking a look.

Kafka: "So I guess we're going there, right?"

Silver Wolfie: "Yeah."

To Belobog.

Rewatching the security camera footage on his smartphone, Silver Wolfie couldn't help but mutter, "...That's sigma..."

*********************************************

While the Stellaron Hunters had their worries, Michael's mind was filled with turbulent thoughts.

He was walking alongside Stelle, behind March 7th and Dan Heng towards the train of the Nameless.

Every time he recalled Aha's task, Michael couldn't help but curl his lips in anger. Fortunately, he barely managed to control his expressions enough to not look awkward.

There were many problems in this mission.

First of all, Welt Yang was not a fool. Michael believed that even if he had S+ grade acting ability, he wouldn't be able to deceive him or lie in front of him for long before being discovered.

Second, Welt had extraordinary, superhuman perception; in the game, in Penacony, he was able to guess the identity of Sunday, who was in disguise, just from a short exchange of words. The same Sunday who had no problem posing as an Intellitron in front of Stelle, March 7th, and Dan Heng.

This indicated that any form of memory manipulation or illusion would not work unless it was at a very high degree, and Michael did not even possess that kind of ability.

The third problem was Michael himself...

You have to remember that in his past life, he was very busy with his work and barely had time to play Honkai Star Rail, so how could he have played Honkai Impact 3rd as well?

His knowledge of the latter was limited to certain things he researched out of curiosity and random information obtained by watching tiktok or reading some fanfics.

It was like asking a baby to walk without having legs. He barely knew what a Herrscher was, so how could he pretend to be one?!

Fortunately, while the first two problems might not have a solution for now, this third one was something Michael could solve through the system.

Searching the System's Shop earlier, he found scripts containing the story of Honkai Impact 3rd.

Now the fourth problem...

These scripts were divided into 4 parts, and each part cost 10,000 Star Points!

Michael felt like he was about to go crazy.

'No, no, calm down... I can do this slowly, I don't need to rush... And if it all somehow goes wrong, I can just claim I was playing a prank!'

There was also the option to give up and pretend he never saw Aha's quest.

But he felt that somehow he would be guided to end up in situations that would force him to fulfill these tasks.

Looking at his S-grade luck stat, that feeling only became more pronounced.

He felt that this lucky stat seemed to be more of an unlucky stat instead!

With this instinctive certainty, Michael decided that it was best for him to take the initiative to do things himself.

With that said, after walking for a few more minutes, the group of four people arrived at the Landing Zone which was under renovation.

Along the way, Michael was stopped several times by passing researchers who wanted to greet and thank him, significantly slowing down the group rhythm.

As a star, he had to act well in front of his fans, so he greeted them all with a smile on his face.

Somehow, that was satisfying too.

Michael was about to enter the Astral Express along with the others, but a sharp turn suddenly stopped them at the entrance, saying, "Hold on!"

Michael blinked in confusion, he looked around for a while, seeing no one other than the three Nameless he already knew. Then suddenly, looking down, he saw.

With a pointy hat, machinist uniform and rabbit ears.

Pom-Pom, the gacha doorman! No, wait, the train driver!

Pom-Pom stared at Michael with clear distrust, his posture was highly defensive and he held a broom in his little hand.

Pom-Pom: "Is this the guy...?"

March 7th: "Yes..."

Pom-Pom asked March 7th, who responded by scratching the back of her neck, slightly embarrassed. She gave Michael an apologetic look before stepping aside to make way for the rabbit.

Pom-Pom: "Listen, boy... Whether you're a Masked Fool, a Mourning Actor, an Emanator, or whatever... If you cause any trouble inside this Astral Express of mine... I'll personally test whether this broom fits up your ass!"

Michael: ?

Feeling a drop of sweat run down his forehead, Michael unconsciously tightened his butt and replied solemnly.

"You don't need to worry, sir! I, Michael, have never met anyone as fair and well-behaved as I am! I definitely won't cause any problems!"

Pom-Pom narrowed her eyes slightly at Michael, studying him for a good fifteen seconds before relaxing and stepping back inside the Express.

Pom-Pom: "Very well, you better remember your promise!"

"... Is he always like this?"

Michael asked Dan Heng, who was beside him, his lips curled.

Dan Heng: "... Well, ever since he heard you were a Pathstrider of the Elation, Pom-Pom has been a little more aggressive than usual."

'... Isn't that just open prejudice?!'

Michael was feeling injusticed.
