Chapter 79: Weapon Explosion Technique
"Dark Serpent Shadow Sword."
Seeing the dark short sword in Mo Yin's hand, Mo Yu instantly recalled a scene from the auction in Wutan City. Back then, two weapons were auctioned at the Mittel Auction House, one of which was this short sword, bought by a mysterious figure in a black robe. The moment Mo Yu first saw Mo Yin, he had a vague feeling of familiarity. Now, it was clear—Mo Yin was the one who had purchased the Dark Serpent Shadow Sword.
Although Mo Yu didn't know why Mo Yin had infiltrated Wutan City so early without making a move against him, seeing the sword gave Mo Yu a potential way to escape.
"Who are you, really?" Mo Yin rasped, coughing violently. The young man's abilities made him feel as if he were facing some ancient monster.
"I'm the one destined to kill you!" Mo Yu replied coldly as he slowly moved towards the nearby cliff, all the while quietly recovering his Dou Qi and nearly depleted soul energy.
"Arrogant brat, you must die today!" Mo Yin growled, his eyes locked on Mo Yu, who was edging closer to the cliff. Did the boy really think he could escape by flying away?
"Sorry, I don't think that's going to happen," Mo Yu said as he looked up at Mo Yin, whose face was twisted with fury. A flush of red spread across Mo Yu's pale face, and his body trembled slightly before a pair of black wings about a meter long suddenly sprang from his back.
Seeing the wings suddenly appear, Mo Yin was once again shocked, his expression darkening.
With a flap of his wings, Mo Yu leaped into the abyss below, the wings vibrating rapidly as he wobbled towards the opposite cliff, all while Mo Yin watched in stunned silence.
"Transforming Dou Qi into wings… Is he a Dou King? No, that must be another of his tricks!" Mo Yin shook his head, his face darkening further as he sensed that Mo Yu's Dou Qi level was still at the Fighter stage. The boy had so many tricks that he had almost been fooled.
"You little brat, you won't escape my grasp today!" Mo Yin sneered as he bent his body, then stomped his left leg forcefully. The impact shattered his pants, revealing a leg bulging with veins like writhing snakes. The leg widened and became covered in thick, pitch-black fur, resembling that of a wild wolf.
Mo Yin's leg had transformed entirely, no longer human but more like the limb of a magical beast.
His leg now tinged with a pale green hue, Mo Yin grinned wickedly. "This is a Wind Wolf leg, a fourth-tier magical beast limb that I went through hell to transplant. Let's see how you handle its power!"
With a fierce laugh, Mo Yin's Wind Wolf leg stomped the ground, sending cracks spreading like a spiderweb beneath his wolf-like foot. In a flash, his body shot towards Mo Yu like a bullet, moving several times faster than Mo Yu's Dou Qi wings.
As Mo Yin rapidly closed in on him, wielding the short sword and using the explosive power of his leap to pursue him, a strange smile appeared on Mo Yu's lips.
"Die, you little brat!" Mo Yin snarled, his face twisted with rage as he descended on Mo Yu from above, his sword striking down like a venomous serpent.
Suspended in mid-air, Mo Yu had no way to dodge, but he hadn't planned to.
Extending his soul power, Mo Yu skillfully directed it into the Dark Serpent Shadow Sword in Mo Yin's hand. With a thought, Mo Yu uttered a low command.
"Weapon Explosion Technique!"
As Mo Yu's command echoed, the short sword in Mo Yin's hand unexpectedly exploded, catching him completely off guard.
Boom!
The explosion of the second- or even third-tier weapon echoed loudly in the air, scattering the birds and beasts around the cliff.
The shockwave from the explosion halted Mo Yin's momentum, and the close-range blast took him by surprise. His face, already twisted with rage, was marred by the explosion, his features becoming unrecognizable as blood covered his skin. His right arm, which had been holding the short sword, was blown clean off.
Reeling from the severe injury, Mo Yin suppressed the blood rising within him. Glancing down at the bottomless cliff below, he knew he couldn't stay airborne without Dou Qi wings. With a final, venomous glare at Mo Yu, he quickly retreated back to the cliff using his agile footwork.
Taking advantage of the situation, Mo Yu flew away as fast as the wind would carry him. As he fled, he noticed a glimmer of green light floating in the air—a storage ring! Realizing what it was, Mo Yu immediately flapped his wings to snatch the green ring out of the air.
The storage ring had belonged to Mo Yin's severed arm. Now, the entire collection of a Dou Grandmaster belonged to Mo Yu.
"Mo Yin, consider this ring payment for trying to kill me. As for your life, I'll come for it another day!"
As Mo Yu's figure disappeared into the darkness, his cold, mocking voice echoed in the air.
"Damn you, you little brat! I'll hunt you to the ends of the earth!" Mo Yin's venomous roar resounded over the cliff.
Seeing his missing right arm and the storage ring that was no longer there, along with Mo Yu's retreating figure, Mo Yin's expression grew darker. Rage boiled within his eyes.
The once-feared Dou Grandmaster of the northeastern provinces had, for the first time, failed against a mere Fighter!
On the other side, Mo Yu carefully flew over the deep chasm. As soon as he reached the opposite cliff, before he could even land, his depleted Dou Qi withdrew the Purple Cloud Wings with a soft sound.
Suddenly, his body plummeted straight down, crashing into a patch of soft grass below.
Exhausted from using up all his Dou Qi and soul energy, Mo Yu was now incredibly weak. Fortunately, the chasm separated him from Mo Yin. Otherwise, he would have been in mortal danger.
Even so, Mo Yu didn't dare to stay where he was for long. Struggling to his feet, he began to stumble toward the depths of the Magic Beast Mountain Range like an old man.
Though his Dou Qi and soul energy were completely drained, the Thunder Armor Body he had trained kept his physical body in good condition. After trudging along for a quarter of an hour, he finally found a wide cave where he could rest.
After setting up traps around the cave entrance with Thunder Fire Orbs, Mo Yu, too exhausted to stay awake any longer, succumbed to sleep.
In the dark, Mo Yu felt as though his entire body was submerged in cool water. A gentle and calming energy, released from the Vermilion Bird Scorching Sky Lightning, seeped into his body through his pores, quietly circulating within.
As the energy flowed, it gradually repaired the slightly damaged meridians caused by the excessive use of Dou Qi...
