Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Snatching Everything?
Chapter 31: Snatching Everything?
After securing the Black Thunder Stone in his storage ring, Mo Yu lost interest in exploring the Dou Qi Pavilion further and decided to leave.
As he approached the heavy doors, he noticed a group of stern-faced guards standing firmly at the entrance. Near the corner, an old man sat expressionless in a chair, holding a pen and a thick ledger.
In front of the old man was a line of clan members, each handing over the Dou Qi techniques they had found for the old man to record before they were allowed to leave under the watchful eyes of the guards.
This was a standard procedure to prevent the techniques from being taken out of the clan without permission. Although these techniques held little value to Mo Yu, they were highly coveted treasures in Wu Tan City.
After waiting in line for a while, it was finally Mo Yu's turn. He stepped forward and handed the silver-white scroll to the old man.
The old man accepted the scroll, his eyes widening slightly as he recognized Mo Yu. A hint of admiration flashed in his gaze.
After recording the technique, the old man handed it back to Mo Yu and commented, "So you're the talented young man who recently rose to fame in the Xiao family. Not bad, not bad. The clan leader was right about you. The 'Thunder Clap Art' is the highest-level thunder technique in the family. If you practice diligently, your future will be limitless."
Mo Yu gave a casual nod and was about to leave when he noticed two familiar figures, one in black and the other in green—Xiao Yan and Xun'er.
Seeing them, Mo Yu decided to wait, leaning casually against the door as they completed their registration.
Noticing Mo Yu's gesture, Xiao Yan and Xun'er smiled and quickened their pace.
Before long, they had finished their registration and joined Mo Yu.
"Mo Yu, you seem to be in a good mood. Did you find a suitable technique in the family? If not, I have some higher-grade techniques that I could give you," Xun'er offered with a smile, noticing the faint smile on Mo Yu's face. She assumed he was pleased with a technique he had found in the pavilion.
Xiao Yan, standing beside her, showed no signs of jealousy. He knew that Xun'er was only trying to repay Mo Yu for the kindness he had shown him during his difficult years. For Xiao Yan, Mo Yu's support was not only a personal favor but also a significant help to Xun'er.
Mo Yu was momentarily surprised by Xun'er's offer, then realized that she had misunderstood the source of his happiness. He chuckled and replied, "I was just thinking of something that made me happy. I don't need any high-grade techniques for now, but thank you, Xun'er. You can be sure that I'll keep an eye on Xiao Yan and make sure he doesn't get distracted by other girls."
After saying this, Mo Yu began to ponder. Besides Xun'er, Xiao Yan has a lot of girls interested in him—Yafei, the Little Fairy Doctor, Medusa, Yun Yun, Qing Lin... How can I possibly keep him in check? Should I take them all myself? But that's not really my style...
Xun'er and Xiao Yan both smiled at Mo Yu's playful comment and shook their heads, not taking it seriously. Xun'er had complete trust in Xiao Yan, knowing he wasn't the type to be swayed by other women. Xiao Yan, on the other hand, was too focused on his training to think much about relationships.
However, Mo Yu's earlier comment about not needing a high-grade technique caught their attention. They were both surprised by his nonchalance in rejecting a high-grade technique. Could it be that Mo Yu was already practicing an Earth-tier technique?
An Earth-tier technique was incredibly rare, almost impossible to find even in the entire Jia Ma Empire. Such a technique could elevate a practitioner to the rank of Dou Huang in no time. The idea that Mo Yu might possess such a powerful technique left them both stunned.
As they walked out of the pavilion and into the fresh air, Mo Yu reflected on how fruitful the visit had been.
"So, how did it go, Yan'er, Yu?" asked a voice. Turning, they saw Xiao Zhan approaching with a smile. His eyes glanced at the doors of the pavilion but his words were directed at them.
Xiao Yan smiled and nodded, revealing a dark red scroll peeking out from under his sleeve. Xiao Zhan sighed in relief upon seeing it, then turned to Mo Yu with an expectant look.
Mo Yu, following Xiao Yan's lead, revealed a silver-white scroll from his sleeve. Seeing that both boys had secured the best techniques available, Xiao Zhan, usually a stern leader, couldn't hide his satisfaction.
With a broad smile, he patted them on the shoulders. "Now that you have the techniques, you can start training properly. Mo Yu, since you've already reached the Dou Practitioner level, you can begin practicing right away. Yan'er, don't rush. Once you become a Dou Practitioner, you'll be able to fully develop your Dou Qi."
Mo Yu and Xiao Yan exchanged glances, both showing a hint of helplessness in their smiles. Xiao Yan knew that Mo Yu's technique was likely far superior, probably even Earth-tier, given how casually he had dismissed Xun'er's offer. Meanwhile, Mo Yu knew that Xiao Yan's future would lead him to practice the mysterious Flame Mantra.
Despite their shared understanding, they appreciated Xiao Zhan's good intentions, even if they couldn't fully benefit from them.
As they were about to leave, Xiao Zhan called out to Mo Yu. "By the way, Yu, the family is having a gathering tonight. Make sure you come."
Mo Yu had a bad feeling about the invitation but nodded. "Alright, Uncle. I'll be there."
