Basketball Legend: When Pride Still Matters

Chapter 147 Between Love and Hate (Thanks to the Lord of the Alliance, Nan Cangxi)_2

It was supposed to be a story about a good brother willing to bear the bad reputation of isolating and bullying a new teammate, yet Yu Fei made it sound like Michael Jordan himself had traded Oakley away.

"You don't f**king understand anything!"

Jordan ran to the frontcourt and said to Yu Fei.

Well spoken, but why should anyone understand?

Just tell me, is it not a fact that Oakley was traded?

Yu Fei responded provocatively, "A washed-up has-been dares to speak so loudly?"

Jordan's fury was triggered. He angrily called for the ball, then without any extra movements, he jumped straight backwards, making a high-arching fadeaway jumper.

Finally, the enraged Jordan scored his first points.

7 to 10

"That's right, only blow for blow counts as a duel!"

"Michael has finally entered Superman mode!"

Bill Walton cheered, and then, in less than ten seconds, Yu Fei made a large crossover to the left on the perimeter. He shook Jordan's center of gravity and immediately pulled up for a three-pointer from the top of the arc as soon as he gathered the ball.

Jordan's defense was completely shattered; only when Yu Fei's ball reached its peak did he realize he needed to get into position.

However, Yu Fei didn't even bother to glance at the basket because the feel of that last shot was so good.

That feeling couldn't be wrong.

"Swish!"

"13 to 7! Frye has scored all of the Bucks' points so far! Up to now, there hasn't been a second person from the Bucks who has touched the ball on the frontcourt!"

Brad Nessler pointed out the most unusual fact since the start of the game.

Yu Fei was playing a one-man game of basketball.

And he was doing it effectively.

Scoring 13 points in less than five minutes was a frightfully efficient performance that sent shivers down the spine.

The Jordan who had lost his athletic ability couldn't attack at will like Yu Fei.

Especially under Yu Fei's defense, each of his shots needed to be cautious.

That sudden fadeaway jumper earlier might have been successful, but he definitely couldn't keep doing it, because Yu Fei was already on guard.

"Do I need to remind you of our scoring difference?"

After Jordan got the ball, Yu Fei's trash talk followed.

"13 to 2."

Yu Fei's tone wasn't cold. Unlike Larry Bird, who had played the role of a merciless announcement machine in front of Dr. J, Yu Fei had more of a desire to retaliate and humiliate his opponent.

Bird's humiliation of Dr. J was proof of the new generation of stars ending the era of old giants, whereas Yu Fei's was not.

This was personal vendetta.

He wanted to make Jordan uncomfortable, to make him feel his dignity was insulted. That was his goal.

So when Yu Fei used "13 to 2" to force Jordan to take another fadeaway shot, he was already prepared.

The angry Jordan forgot the clear physical size difference between him and Yu Fei: a height difference of 198 cm to 206 cm, nearly 10 cm in wingspan, and a generation's difference in physical condition. These disparities resulted in a destructive outcome for Jordan's forced shot.

Yu Fei precisely timed Jordan's jump and leapt faster, viciously blocking the shot forward.

"Bang!"

Jordan's shot was smacked out of bounds by Yu Fei.

"Angry? Can you talk about that thing again?" Yu Fei mockingly said while clinging to Jordan's body, "The one about you winning six championships, haven't heard it for a long time, can you say it again?"

When a proud man is driven into a corner and his glorious achievements that built his lofty status are mentioned by a younger person with a scoffing tone, it is an astonishing provocation to his emotions.

The irrational Jordan pushed Yu Fei in front of him and roared, "You don't f**king have the right to talk to me like that!"

The referee stopped the game, and Yu Fei seized on the nuances in Jordan's words, "The right? Why don't I have the right? Because I don't have a championship? That's right, that's it. You have six championships, so I'm not qualified to talk trash to you. Absolutely right, I love seeing you resort to mentioning your championships when you're down and out. That's all you've got left, that's enough for you."

If it weren't for the intervention of teammates from both sides, Yu Fei and Jordan might have exploded into a bigger conflict right then and there.

Ultimately, the Bucks called for a timeout.

George Karl paced back and forth in front of Yu Fei, not sure what to say.

"I know what I'm doing,"

Yu Fei said before he could be dizzied by Karl's circling.

"You know what you're doing? Thank God! You actually know what you're doing!" Karl laughed out of irritation, "Halfway through the opening, your teammates haven't touched the ball on offense, and you, clearly in great form, are obsessed with a personal grudge? Tonight could be the best night you've had since entering the NBA. How would you like to commemorate it? Would you like to remember it as the night you fought with a forty-year-old man on the court? Are you f**king serious?"

Yu Fei considered himself a pacifist; he wouldn't initiate a fight on the court.

However, hearing Karl say it that way, Yu Fei thought that if a fight had really broken out just now, it could have been a major blow to Jordan's prestige.

"Michael Jordan resorts to fisticuffs on the court after a complete defeat..." Yu Fei asked with a smile, "How pleasant does that newspaper headline sound?"

Karl had only heard about the matter between Yu Fei and Jordan.

But as Yu Fei behaved aggressively on the court, indicating he was ready to tear Jordan apart, Karl realized how big the rift between them was.

No wonder Jordan had reached the point of being traded.

With his current level of skill, he simply couldn't suppress Yu Fei. If not for the trade, the second-year Yu Fei would have taken over the Wizards' dominance.

Karl had firsthand experience of how dominating Yu Fei could be during the time Yu Fei had been with the Bucks.
