Chapter 28: Chapter 28 Art? No it's a Name

"Where did you get all this information?"

Sonya glanced up at Lefi, who was looking over the billboard of evidence she had gathered

"I have eyes and ears in some places,"

Sonya walked over to the billboard, Leif saw a cloud and a man standing in it. Leif looked over at Shai's case and found it connected to it, He pulled the picture off the billboard and thought,

"That doesn't look like the figure. It's more broad. Is that armor?"

"I thought it was the figure,"

Leif dropped the picture shock but was able to grab it before it got on the ground. Leif looked over at Sonya with her hand holding out for it,

"It's not the figure. Where was this picture taken,"

Leif gave it back to her and she placed it back on the board,

"It was close to Shai's apartment," Sonya answered

Sonya went over to her desk and grabbed the document, she walked back to Leif and offered him it and he took it,

"The bystanders told me that the man's eyes were glowing red with the cloud around him glowing," Sonya told him

Leif looked at the picture of the man in the clouds. Leif remembered the warnings that were told to him. After all these years, now it happens after there is some peace, Leif read through it once more with one thought that came to mind,

"They're in another realm,"

Leif pointed to the evidence, collecting his thoughts. Then dropped his hand staring at the board with deep concentration,

Sonya watched him and thought,

"Does he have a clue of who this man is?"

"Do you know who this is?" Sonya asked

Leif flinches hesitates and tells her,

"I know what it means, but I'm not sure who it is."

"It means? It should be a man, but you know what it means?" Sonya asked

"It's not good only a mystery waiting to be known," Leif muttered

Leif's gaze went to hers and didn't see another motive. Leif knew he had to be sure that Sonya wouldn't speak of this to anyone else. To be sure of her not to tell what he held so close to his soul, for so long.

"Ever seen in the old library down the street from this police station,"

"You mean the one on Rae Street," Sonya asked

"That one yeah, "

Leif walked to the chair in front of her desk sat down and motioned her to sit down, Sonya stared at him bewildered

and slowly went to her chair,

"This might be a little weird Sonya,"

Sonya sat down, keeping her gaze on him, Leif started to feel uneasy. He couldn't say this to anyone but there is no choice. If it meant getting his daughter to safety, then he would tell every living soul.

"Why talk about the library?"

"It's related to the man in the cloud,"

Sonya was weirded out, the library was a part of this man. Or was it that the person who watched over it knew of the man? Lefi saw the look on her face and started to think of a way to explain the circumstance therein,

"Have you ever imagined one of the books you love with the characters you adore or hate, just popping off the pages?"

"I have," Sonya told him dubious,

"That is how they can get through,"

"Who gets thought?"

Leif huffed and looked around for something to help her understand, What he was trying to say.

"Just tell me what you know Leif," Sonya said

"These characters are real,"

Sonya felt like she had just been shot. She looked at him with disbelief,

"You're lying to me, Leif,"

"No, No. I'm serious. They have a way through those books into other worlds and space if they wanted,"

"Through the books?"

"Just like through a door to a home or a window that opened, they have a way into our world," Leif explained

"That's not..."

Sonya sat there with her eyes widened, thinking of what he told her.

"Characters coming out of books?" Sonya let out

"Mostly Mythology, but I have seen a mafia book that come to life," Leif said

"They are myths Leif, not real."

"I thought the same thing. Until I was greeted with one,"

Leif looked at her with desperation. He has never told anyone, not even Shai to some extent.

"I know this sounds unbelievable Sonya, but this is the only idea I have for that picture,"

Leuf pointed at the picture; Sonya glanced over at the picture and then back at him, he was serious.

"I can't tell this to the chief," Sonya mumbled

"How much time do you have to with this case?"

"I would have a week before he asks about the report, "

"We keep this between us for now,"

Leif flinches at how fast she put her hand down on the table and the look on her face that said it all to him. I would if I could.

"I don't mean to pressure you, Sonya, this will be a lot of stress on your part, I just want to know what happened to her,"

Sonya sat there contemplating whether to follow his lead.

"This could help with this case, but if he's telling me the truth. That I will have to see for myself. But these anomalies can't be. What would I tell the chief, and would he believe what I have, what we have?"

"Sonya?" Leif said

Sonya's eyes moved away from the desk, looking at him with a grin placed where her frown was,

"You are going to have to show me the library as proof," Sonya told him

Leif visibly stiffens.

"That might not be possible," Leif said

"What do you mean? If you want me to believe you then why not show me?"

"I do want to show you the library, however, the librarian wouldn't like that,"

"The librarian wouldn't like me being there?"

"Without notice yes, her name is Art. She has been watching over it since it was founded,"

"She won't let me?" Sonya inquired

"I'm not sure, I guess we will have to see," Leif answered

"We bring this assembly to start with Miss Diamond from Washington,"

Judy sat in her chair with Alex next to her, Judy read over the papers at the desk and then looked at her colleagues. Some stared at their devices, while others watched with interest.

"I would like to say to mister Bates, get well soon... so you can face four years of prison for lying to Congress and the people,"

The room was quiet with the eyes of the journalist on her, Judy looked back down at her papers,

"I have been here warning about these threats for over three years, now you see the fruits of these people's labor,"

"They have been hidden in the shadow for a hundred years of this country. It's now showing its face by hiding the existence of this AI and denying it in front of both the Senate and Congress; this needs to be stopped. This AI just tried to kill another person with the intent of showing the deeds of the people who changed him. Know,"

"This, of course, has caused the people to worry about what it might do. If it could hack into their government, what else could it do? It could take the internet and their electricity, causing the country to go to a halt. I have asked the Senate leaders to bring it to the floor for question Max Klaus. he has been helping Yuval change the AI,"

"He has helped cause this chaos in the country that we have not seen since the 2020s. I know that some of my colleagues will not like this, but quite frankly, I don't care. These people lied to the American people, and you were just going to let him walk away. Not this time... This shouldn't have happened in the first place. Most of the evidence I have is from the creator of this AI Sidney Lincoln, the information was held back by the lab in north Coraline,"

Judy saw that the document was behind her, held up by her group, she glanced around the room, feeling the sudden shift in the room.

"This has the evidence to bring Max Klaus here for questioning, bring the hidden agenda he has helped up front,"

Judy fixed her papers and looked over at the Chairwoman, past Alex,

"I yield my time," Judy finished

Alex smiled at Judy, before clearing his throat while the chairwoman called him,

"Senator Sherman from Tennessee,"

"Thank you, Madam Chairwoman, I've read these documents, and for a while, I was with the others in this Senate. I thought this was all just a figment of lies, but now me and my team look into this, and it's true. The worst of it all is that some in this Senate are paid by these people. To hinder and hide what Yuval Bates and Max Klaus have done,"

"I have how much you have been paid on paper, either you tell the people how much you have gotten and how you turned a blind eye to this, I have been trying to get my head through this and it is a lot,"

"They have eyes and ears almost everywhere, you remember what the president said in his last speech they want to control and be in power to have their agenda,"

Alex was about to continue, but a voice called out to him, Alex turned his gaze to him.

"What is their so-called agenda,"

"Glad you asked," Alex gave him a grin,

"What did they reprogram the AI to do? To make us obsolete, they have always had this ill intention. They don't care what the AI will do to the people. Frankly, they have never cared. The open for the world brought the rights to the AI through the Lab Yuval ran and what happened just a few months after word?"

The room went quiet, and Alex stared at the man who asked, waiting for him to say anything. Nothing.

"It has proved its intentions, it will harm or kill whoever is in its way, we will need to bring the man in question,"

"That's all of your time, Senator Sherman,"

Alex placed his paper down while Judy sat there with a hint of relief but the feeling of dread still lingers.
