AWAKENING WITH AN X-RANK ATTRIBUTE EXTRACTION TALENT

Chapter 3: It can't get any worse, can it?

'F-Rank?-what the fuck!'.

Ray, who was about to look at what made the blabbering old man shut his mouth, and made the man's otherwise casual and calm demeanour, take such a drastic change, froze in fright as he processed the words he just heard.

'D....dungeon? -A fucking dungeon spawning where I am?'.

Ray shuddered in fright. The worse thing any person; especially a normal human like Ray could wish for is to be near a Dungeon.

And worst of all, having it spawning right next to them in a closed vicinity.

Dungeons were ranked from F-Rank all the way to the SSS-Rank. Just like the gifted were ranked. And as expected the difficulty in clearing these dungeons, increases in ranking.

With colours using to easily identify it.

As thus;

Red Coloured dungeon - F-Rank

Orange Coloured dungeon-E-Rank

Yellow coloured Dungeon- D-Rank

Green Coloured dungeon- C-Rank

Blue coloured Dungeon- B-Rank

Indigo coloured Dungeon- A-Rank

Purple Coloured dungeon -S-Rank

White coloured Dungeon- SS-Rank

Black coloured Dungeon- SSS- Rank

Although the dungeon now, was an F-Rank- the monsters in there, would spell doom for someone of Ray's caliber.

'Ah fuck! Ray thought -just a damn beer I wanted;just a damn beer'.

By now, the atmosphere in the bar, had taken a much more serious atmosphere- gone was the lively and carefree energy that was once present. Rather, as if like a mirage, the once energetic atmosphere was stripped off-replaced by one of battle intent.

"Rally up! I'm an E-rank mage! requesting assistance from the fellow awakends here!" A middle age man with a scrawny look and an unkempt beard suddenly spoke up.

Whether his demeanour was like so was because he had too much to drink, was unknown. But one thing was for sure in the face of such a calamity spawning right here - a few blocks away from them, no one dared to take his words lightly.

For in this world, strength was absolute. Tjhe strength of the awakends, even more so.

Immediately, as if a chain reaction had been initiated, others started speaking up:

"F-Rank healer here!"

"E-Rank Assassin here!"

"F-Rank Archer here!"

Suddenly the bar was filled with such statements as gifteds, began rallying. Easily warding off the effects of the alcohol from their system;albeit thanks to their superhuman physique.

Barging out the door, leaving it in clear shambles, these individuals ran up to to the spatial fissure. The red glow, already spreading a deadly aura, paralysing anyone too weak to even stand near it.

Even the E- Ranks couldn't help but shiver- a subtle chill running down their spine as they awaited the influx of monsters that would spawn. The hunters faces, were a blend of fear, and determination. Determined to hold on and even possibly destroy this dungeon before the reinforcement got here.

'With their numbers, it should be possible...right?'

Ray thought taking a glance at the awakends in the distance while placing his finished pint of beer on the table. In his anxiety, which he tried desperately to hide, he had downed his drink.

With a scowl on his face, Ray observed the now empty pint. He had wanted to savour the bitter-sweet taste- but now...

*Sigh*

'foeget it! Let's find a way to get out of here before the chaos starts or something'. Ray thought glancing at the fissure again.

He had already payed the old man earlier. Having learnt his lesson from earlier this afternoon.

Although, now he wondered where the old man had gone; for as soon as he looked back towards the chair once more, he was gone!

'No way he ran off- after all that talk about hardwork and determination bullsh-'. Ray snickered while in thought until.

SWISSSSHHHH!!!

An ear piercing sound rang out, as spiders, standing a towering 5 feet tall, began sprawling on the awaiting gifteds. Their crimson red carapace was a sight to behold as they landed in front of the awakends.

'Heh... we're so fucked'.

Ray chuckled in self depreciation.

He had previously thought with their numbers they could have handled these monsters. But boy was he wrong. The spiders, along with their gargantuan size, moved with speed and worse, their numbers already surpassing fifty already...the worst part,

They didn't seem to be running out anytime soon.

"Quickly! Archers with me!" The old scrawny mage from earlier shouted! His words cutting through the paralysed stricken awakends as he swiftly started issuing commands. He seemed like an experienced hunter. As he quickly, dictated what to do.

"Assasins and swords men, coordinate with the tanks! We'll assist you with long range attacks.

"Tanks protect the healers, and healers! Stay alert, let's try to defeat these monsters while losing few of our own!" He continued.

His commands set into motion, as swiftly awkeneds began moving left and right;the assasins moving with grace and fluidity as they attacked the spiders- targeting their weak spots. The difference In ranks between the awakends and these monsters made clear by the sheer power being unleashed.

An assassin, performing a slash, cut off one of the spiders legs. The hard exoskeleton making no difference to the assasins blade, as he made quick work of the spider before moving on to the next.

The air was an arena of magic and arrows as webs, magic spells and arrows zipped and started taking out the spiders one by one. The accuracy of these shots a testament to the experience and knowledge these awakends possessed about their own abilities .

Even Ray was in shock-as this was the first time he had witnessed a 'live action ' of awakends at work. His mouth hanging agape as he observed this...this masterpiece

He had previously thought thst the awakends wouldn't survive. But he was wrong; their coordination and team work, putting these grotesque monsters to shame.

'Heeuf'

With a relaxed sigh, Ray kept observing the fight.

'The only way I see us losing is if a random dungeon randomly spawns right now. But hey! what's the chance of that happening '.

Ray chuckled.

Until a loud shriek sounded out in the distance.

SHHHHHRRRRIIIIIIIIIII!!!

'Impossible!'

'What...what the fuck was that!' Ray said as he bolted to the door. It seemed the people in the bar, had already come to their senses, as they immediately began to evacuate.

As the noise from earlier, came from behind the building.

'The chances of these monsters escaping from the awakends is low , although not zero, but they should be able to hold out. That means....

'Another dungeon just spawned'

Ray thought, as cold sweat poured from his head. His face turning white as paper as he frantically tried to climb over the people already at the door.

It seemed the fear of death, was a very good boost of strength as even the elderly began shoving the others around.

"Get out of my way brat! I have a life to live!"

"The fuck you mean old man, you're just a bag of bones- make way for me instead!"

Similar screams resounded as the old and young wrestled.

SSSSSWWWWIIII!!!

Another loud noise resounded. Finally bringing some level of peace once more.

"It's....it's there!". The words of a frightened middle aged man snapped the people's attention as he pointed in the direction of the front bar, before immediately collapsing from fright. The people, Ray included, looked at the front bar; where a spider-crimson red in colour stood. It's sharp pointy legs embedded deeply into the wood of the bar. It's form imposing as it was formidable. It's eyes scanned the crowd, as a predatory equivalent of a grin escaped it's grotesque mouth.

"Fuckkk!"
