Chapter 86: Gathering of the 2nd Trial Participants

It all started when Knox figured there was no longer a point in keeping his identity a secret. He didn't go around announcing to everyone who he was, but he also didn't bother hiding the truth from those who learned of it.

It was sufficient to say that neither Lucidador nor Lenon were very happy when they discovered the identity of CallMeDaddy. They had expected such a lofty person to be the supreme heir of a secluded sect of unparalleled renown, so to learn that he was no more than a banished cripple…

Well, it wasn't an understatement to say that many arrogant geniuses were infuriated by the news.

To think that they had been so severely undermined by a trash, banished cripple! It was a terrible affront to all of their images!

However, it was around this time that the more cunning among them began to scheme. Knox had, after all, received a ridiculous number of Treasure Troves from the 1st Trial. Taking him out of the picture would not only restore their fickle pride, but it would also give them enough riches to create their own first-rate sect in the Elemental Nations.

"The ambush is already set in place?" Lucidador asked, his arms folded behind his back and his striking gaze fixed on his massive, prosperous nation.

Lenon nodded, laughing heartily. "Naturally, Senior Brother," he said. "That little crippled trash will soon understand just how much of a fluke his score in the previous trial was!"

Lucidador maliciously smiled. "This pleases me greatly, Lenon. I've already attained the Echo of the Blade, so I'll not only be able to easily deal with that cripple, I'll also be capable of assisting you with that stubborn Heaven-ranked sect sword."

Lenon's brows raised in pleasant astonishment. He respectfully cupped his hands, bowing at a slight angle. "Thank you very much, Senior Brother! This one will be forever indebted to you!"

Lucidador nodded like a senior, his poise that of a seasoned Grandmaster.

After attaining the Echo of the Blade through the secret inheritance of an Ancient Blade Demon in the King's Grounds, many things had changed about the Blade King's second eldest son. His aura, his strength, the way he carried himself, and several others. It was almost as if—

Almost as if he had become an entirely different person.

'As soon as that crippled trash dies, I can finally erase the last of this body's persistent soul.'

Strange thoughts bounced around inside the mind of the golden-robed youth. Yet, none could discern the truth. The truth of what really happened after Lucidador "received" the Ancient Blade Demon's inheritance and attained the Echo of the Blade.

'That bastard Devilstar trapped me here, expecting my escape to never come,' he thought, his lips curling in disdain. 'Never would he have expected a youngling with a Level 5 Blade Intent and Heaven-ranked Blade Body to arrive in his little playhouse. Now, with all of these prospects my own, I just have to kill every single one of these talented youths and draw a blood sacrifice that will ascend me to the Soul Transformation Realm!'

After thousands of years of captivity, freedom would finally be his!

— As several unseen forces moved around in the dark, a large group of millions of cultivators surrounded just three people —

"So you're the one who was ranked #1 in the 1st Trial."

The mocking voice of a haughty young man covered in shiny armor carried across thousands of meters. It belonged to one Mr. Seamon Meldon—one of the heirs of Duke Meldon. Beside this figure of high status were the sons and daughters of multiple Count families, including the descendants of Count Buford, Count Thorne, and Count Roderick.

Other Count and Duke descendants wanted to join the gang-bang as well, but on account of their families' neutral or friendly relations with Count Falazar, they held back. Though, that didn't mean they wouldn't grab as much of Knox's fallen loot as they could if he were to fall.

That was why they stood back and watched.

Joining them were the twin daughters of Count Softshore, Nala, and 13th Princess Maya. More than the loot Knox possibly had in his possession, they were far more interested in the true potential of Knox Falazar.

It was only natural they felt this way, for it wasn't every day that a famed crippled young master suddenly exhibited unimaginable levels of talent.

Had Knox Falazar been laying low and cultivating all this while? Was he hiding a degree of cultivation talent above the Heaven-grade?

The questions the observing talents had were numerous. And as they watched tens of millions of native subordinate cultivators gather behind dozens of Trial Takers, they couldn't help but think that things were getting a bit too out of hand.

Looking around, Princess Maya noticed something unusual. "Have any of you seen Lucidador or Lenon? The blade and sword fanatics?"

Nala Maybringer didn't feel the need to respond. She simply kept her eyes on her junior brother and his gathered army.

Luna and Solaris, however, responded to the princess's question in sync:

"Princess Maya, Lucidador and Lenon typically like to make grand entrances. They're unlikely to arrive until the battle nears its end."

"I see," Princess Maya said. 'No matter how many times I hear them talk, I still can't get used to how they speak as if they're the same person. But more importantly than that, Lucidador and Lenon's absence makes it seem like they knew of this battle beforehand. Or is it more accurate to call it an ambush?'

Maya deliberated helping Knox Falazar thwart the joint attack of so many powerful cultivators. Getting on his good side would certainly benefit her and her fight for the throne.

However, on the other hand, she really wanted to see just how valuable of an asset he could be.

And so, the heated tension between one tiny side and one massive side continued uninhibited:

"So, are we going to fight or not, dipsh*t?" Knox asked in a low growl, his patience running thin. "You already brought your whole clown brigade, so let's get this done and over with."
