Chapter 46: Astral's Rise Part 2: Travel Box
Astral looked over to the other two and had a familiar aura around them. Wait, he has helped them before, but that was a past life. Standing there he glared at them as they looked back in awe. Jaimie would help set up a shuttle drill for Adam, Astrid would run through the course as well to encourage Adam. Anders on the other hand ran straight over to the two figures. One was a girl with bright white wings sticking out of her, the other had matching white cat ears and a long tail. Anders flipped to a new page on her clipboard and asked. "Could I look further into you guys, you seem so oddly familiar. To start, your ages and names, and any interesting facts about you two?"
The two looked at each other, nodding in sync knowing the answers for the other. "Well, I am James," the first one spoke.
"And I am named Angel, after my wings." she bowed slightly while her wings fluttered. Astral who had been working on Zeta peered over and then it clicked, they had been waiting forever for him, they were bound to him, but how? "James and I are siblings, from our planet we are considered bottom of the totem pole, and were sold into slavery, one day a man came and changed that." she slightly tilted her head to Astral hidden behind his mech, several welds were going on.
"After that, we were mentored for a few years on how to fight, it helped us protect more people of our kind and due to our abilities we are able to do just enough to ward off the humans. However I feel like we were chosen for this for some weird reason." James spoke while he looked at the mech and everyone else.
Anders took notes, many notes on all of it. "Well, if you feel that way I can only imagine that Astral will be happy to meet you two. First though I need to obtain a quick cotton swab of saliva, for dna reasons." she pulled it out of her lab coat from her front pocket, she was well beyond prepared. The twins looked at her confused.
"What the hell is 'dna'? It sounds like some fancy science thing. Right?" James asked.
"In that case could you tell us more, we have spent all of our years of life fighting. All. uh, James do you remember?" Angel spoke.
Tapping each of his fingers he looked up to his sister. "Nineteen or twenty, I lost count last season I think."
Jaimie looked over to the twins and Anders. "Wait, how did you guys lose track of your birthday? Thats a very important thing!" she walked over as Adam tripped over himself going too fast on the drill. Astrid held her hand out and helped him out as they resumed. "Did either of you get taught anything in your lives?"
"Nope, not one bit." James spoke.
"If you aren't counting work in the mines, or fighting training, and a little bit of speech therapy. None." Angel added to her brother's comment.
Anders looked at the two and smiled. "Well, once this is over maybe we will teach you two as much as you want. Now please open your mouths, this won't hurt." she held the cotton swabs up while handing Jaimie the test kits, she holds them as the two open their mouths and let the swabs rub the insides of their cheeks. She was done and put the swabs into the tubes and shook them up a bit. The twins looked at her and asked.
"What will it tell us?" the two of them wide eyed while relaxing near these two.
Anders smile turned into a frown as the colors turned, cyan. But wait, that means that they are related to, it can't be. She looked at her notepad then back at each vial, the swirling cyan liquid in the bottom of each wasn't changing. "I, what? This normally helps me figure out genomes and relations, for immunities to certain diseases or any allergies." The two couldn't understand anything but nodded in agreement. "The problem is that if it turns cyan, it means you are related to Astral, which I never expected to happen. Especially with how you two go at it." She looked over to Jaimie who was blank faced, just standing in wonder on when.
Astral pressed a button on Zeta and he fired right up. "Cool, thats working, now be ready bud, its gonna be a hot birthday for you." the mech wiggled its fingers and gave Astral a thumbs up before being put into a headlock by Jaimie. "Oh shit, what is it now? Have another urge?" She forced him to his knees. "Oh I really fucked up."
"WHEN DID YOU CREATE THEM!" Jaimie spoke in pure anger, having no understanding on what exactly was happening. Anders looked at the two then back to the twins who just were watching them. At this point Adam walked over to the twins with Astrid accompanying him.
"The last time I went to that planet I fucked a rabbit girl, she was cute and its a weird thing, besides, you know how much i like those ears we have that you love." Astral tried to smooth it over with her but was forced the rest of the way down. "But that was two lifetimes ago. Well before you existed and should have killed them. I don't have a reason for them existing." he looked up for a second. "At least we still could have a kid?" he was let go by her, he rolled to his back when Anders stared him down.
Jaimie ran over to the twins and embraced them. "Don't worry, we will do everything we can to keep you two safe, won't we Astral?" they gripped onto her tightly, they finally found someone who cares for them.
Sitting up Astral looked directly at Jaimie. "The way the rules are, its very clear that only one person can live from the tournament, I have thought of a work around but that will have to wait for now." He stood up and looked at Anders. "Either their souls are restless or their essence wants to be with me. Those are my answers for your science."
Adam looked around and up to the three orbs piloting the box. "Can we change the rules this one time?" he took a moment to gather his breath. "Either allow multiple winners of they come from the same planet, or allow one person to represent them all in the tournament." Astral looked at him and got an even better idea. But he had to wait.
