Chapter 260: The Legacy Part 1: Tapping In
What is a name, when it becomes a statement of a coming storm.
Astral stood outside the doorway of a diner as he looked up to the sign. "Opollo's Pizza, how could one fuck that up?" Astral gently opened the door as the entire restaurant looked at him in awe and infamy. He was rumored to be dead. A myth walking in the flesh. He looked around as one of the waitresses walked forward. Astral's armor slowly faded away as he took off his helmet.
"Hello sir, where would you like to sit. Anything and anywhere." Her timidness shook through her voice as Astral spun his helmet in his hand.
"Anywhere close to a window. I often stare into the stars when I'm bored." His voice was soft as freshly fallen snow as the tension of the place felt at ease. She guided him to a corner booth as he sat down and put his legs up on the table as she was shaking as she handed him a menu. Her uniform started to slowly soak with sweat from being nervous. "I will take water. And this classic Pepperoni Pizza." She nodded furiously up and down as she sprinted away. Astral looked out the window as he felt like something still wasn't complete. Sora could chase him to the end of the universe. But why?
She came back and set down the glass of water gently, she was still trembling at the sight of him. "Anyone joining you sir?" She asked sheepishly fearing there would be a fight.
"It will depend if they show up or not. I promise to make sure no fights happen. You have been far to nervous for me to not make sure your safety and this place's safety. I'll pay for the pizza right now, what will it cost?" Astral tapped his sides as he found his wallet. Since forever ago and wearing his black jacket. She slowly pushed his hand back into his pocket.
"You saved the universe from complete takeover. If the rumors are true. And are the ones delaying the actions from the takeover." She stopped shaking for even a moment while just being in contact with him as he nodded gently.
Astral glowed softly as his smile beamed. "I still have a far path to go. The journey doesn't end just because we delay actions." She bobbed up and down as the diner all took a sigh of relief. Astral looked back to the stars as he examined where he needed to be next. He found the spot in his mind as he wondered what drawed his eye.
A few minutes passed as the waitress came back with the pizza and set it down in front of him. Astral eyed it as he looked at the crust. It was super doughy and not entirely done. He touched the top part of it as the cheese was hard. He grabbed one of the pieces as it was cold. He pulled it upward as it was one stiff piece of pizza. He took a bite as he realized what made it so good. It was cooked then deep freezed in an instant. He finished his first piece in a few more bites as he saw a flash from the corner of his eye. He started to devour what he had left of his pizza.
Sora walked in first followed by James and Angel as the others waited outside. No one intruded as the three looked directly at Astral as he finished his pizza with time to spare. "So you want to ignore us? You think you are better?" Sora's anger boiled over into his voice as it got louder with each word.
"Can't be the best without thinking about it. Have you ever read some of the stories of fiction? Its about time for me to be on my way." Astral smiled as he waved bye to the three. Falling backwards into his pocket dimension. Sora tried to grab onto his leg as Astral was far too fast. Astral spun in midair as he reappeared above the diner and vanished within a blink of the eye.
Sora just looked into the sky as he stormed out. James and Angel looked at each other as they shrugged. They followed Sora as Tina, Sanguine and Lilac were still puking outside. They were sick as Angel and James sat down on the bench outside. They were moving too slow for them to be truly catching Astral unless he slowed down.
Astral flashed around the emptiness of space. He opened and closed his portals through the pocket dimension several times. Gliding through them as he made it to where he felt drawn to. He saw the planet from afar and landed on the ground outside of a major city. He listened to the area around him. The gunshots rang as he looked for any higher spots to form any view over the battlescape. Astral sighed as he jumped upward lightly to a support beam from an unfinished skyscraper. He saw far in his vision robots. They were almost recognizable by their looks. A faint hook reminded him of a past fight.
On the other side were humans fighting back. They had no chance as their weapons were not even scratching the armor of the robots. Nor denting their machinery. Astral cracked his knuckles as he spread out his hands and extended his fingers, a light glow formed in front of him as he started to move his fingers at lightning speeds. They blurred as he looked on the cyber side of the area to see if there was anything he could do. He stayed still for a moment as he saw a few loose threads. He extended his left hand as he turned one of the robots ninety degrees directly into the rest as it sawed through them with its much more advanced weaponry.
Astral flicked his right wrist as he heard a flood of communications. Rotating a dial in the air to lessen its variety and hone in on the group in front of him. "The robots, one of them just turned and faced the rest and gunned them down." A deeper male voice snapped into a phone.
"This is almost impossible, we haven't cracked their coding on their robots nor is there anyone here who could gain access to them. It would have to be a defect. But that's far from reasonable." A second man was waiting with baited breath.
"Sir I promise you, there is no one around and it seemed way to deliberate to be a defect. Someone had to have hacked into their systems. The robot itself is now just standing there. We have a decoy and scout to be used if we can find the person who got in." The first man looked all around high and low. Waving his one hand for everyone else to start looking.
"What are we listening to?" A small lady appeared on Astral's shoulder as he swung down and bent the steel beam. "Must be pretty important if you act like that."
"Sienna did her job. You guys check the T-Seven coordinate and look up." The second voice spoke through his sound systems as Astral hung there still. How did he get found. He bypassed all their security.
'It was on purpose. Of course they already knew someone of great talent levels appeared and they knew about it and drew me out of my spot.' Astral looked over his shoulder. "Artificial Intelligence. You, feel so familiar." Astral kept peering at the model before him. It was designed as a very curvy and showing. The base model was green with hints of lighter lime covering her private parts as she also had a cat tail and ears. With a skirt to match.
"So many secrets that we are yet to learn together. I've heard much about you. But it is time for you to help everyone you can." Astral nodded as he hopped to the ground with a thud. All the soldiers on the ground awaited him and his direction.
