Chapter 492: Chapter 492: Eliminating Threats
[Chapter 555: Eliminating Threats]
After the Oscars concluded, First Lady Hillary Clinton made an appearance in Hollywood to raise campaign funds for Bill Clinton's re-election. Since Bill took office, he had maintained a close relationship with Hollywood, generously supporting its initiatives and actively helping to expand its international reach.
At the Bel-Air Country Club, First Lady Hillary Clinton, California Senator Dianne Feinstein, and White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta gathered at a private meeting hosted by Arthur Smith.
"Arthur, we really owe you for the Hollywood donations," Hillary smiled, recognizing the generous contribution from Hollywood figures led by Arthur for Bill's re-election campaign.
"Over the past few years, the MPAA has performed quite well, both in regulating movies and opening international markets," Arthur stated, taking a sip of his drink.
In recent years, the MPAA had become more lenient regarding classifications of violence, adult themes, and religious content, while also supporting film exports, allowing for mergers between films and television stations, all of which benefitted Hollywood significantly.
Dianne Feinstein relaxed a bit, "The American economy is growing rapidly, which is very helpful for the President's re-election."
Arthur glanced at Leon Panetta, "Is Independent Counsel Ken Starr still investigating the President?"
Leon Panetta nodded, "There were eleven indictments in the Whitewater case. Now it's the Jones case; we can only dismiss Paula Jones's lawsuit by invoking presidential immunity."
"In his final days, he can't accept a trial, but the investigation can continue!" Arthur said, somewhat unhappily. "Ha, women, huh?"
Hillary frowned, clearly displeased; this was yet another of Clinton's scandals. "White House intern Monica Lewinsky is about to be reassigned to the Pentagon."
Arthur was taken aback and, after looking at Leon, he turned back to Hillary, clearly aware that both parties were aware of the scandal surrounding them.
"Leon, who brought this up?" Arthur knew the situation was already unfolding, but he wouldn't allow the President to be impeached.
"It was a senior White House adviser, the President's assistant, Rahm Emanuel!"
"He's also Jewish, just like Monica Lewinsky, right?"
"Ah, yes!"
Arthur and Leon's back-and-forth left both Hillary and Dianne perplexed. They immediately thought of last year's Oslo Accords, which had just been signed, facing fierce opposition from Israel. Just two months later, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who signed the agreement, was assassinated by Jewish extremists.
Israel did not want to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians; after all, Israel needed to expand its territory. The United States had numerous interests in the Middle East and did not wish to offend all Arab countries for the sake of Israel. Clinton's support for the Oslo Accords left Israel quite displeased.
Arthur sighed directly, then turned to Hillary, "If you don't want this ticking time bomb to go off later, it's best to eliminate all threats now."
Hillary was savvy enough to understand Arthur's meaning. Dianne Feinstein nodded in agreement, "It's not just Monica Lewinsky; Rahm Emanuel also needs to be dealt with."
"Rahm Emanuel is just helping to raise funds for the campaign. He's not that important. If Clinton wins this year, it marks the second time that the Democrats have re-elected a president since FDR," Arthur noted.
"This would mean a lot for the Democrats; we absolutely cannot afford any issues!" Hillary agreed. With both capital and political forces represented, it seemed clear Monica Lewinsky's threat had to be resolved swiftly.
Before long, Hillary and Dianne left the Bel-Air Country Club, leaving Leon Panetta and Arthur Smith behind.
"Don't worry, Arthur. Monica's reassignment to the Pentagon is next month, so Hillary has plenty of time to deal with the threat," Leon Panetta reassured him.
Arthur nodded; he knew Hillary's ruthless nature which gave him confidence.
"By the way, what about the information I asked you to check?" Arthur was facing his own troubles lately, given that Seraphim Security was involved in international arms trading. In Hollywood, some were secretly connecting this issue back to him.
Leon Panetta pulled a file from his bag and handed it to Arthur. "Indeed, this is someone from your Hollywood circle; his name is Arnon Milchan, an Israeli film producer in Hollywood. The FBI has his information. He's been involved in arms trading and appears to be an operative for Israeli intelligence."
Arthur examined the details, "Interesting, Arnon Milchan, 52, founder of Regency Enterprises, an independent film production company; a gunrunner and an Israeli spy, ha!"
Leon Panetta added, "There's an arms order related to the Defense Department's military base in Monrovia, Liberia, that Arnon Milchan is also interested in securing. Yet it seems you've already acquired it!"
Arthur laughed derisively, "America is being ruled by Mossad now, huh?"
Leon Panetta shook his head, "We can take care of Arnon Milchan for you. He's just a minor figure; the FBI can act at any time."
Arthur waved his hand, "Seraphim Security is now also in arms dealing. If outsiders learn that a small-time arms middleman could stab me in the back, how will we continue doing business? This is a minor issue. I'll have my own people handle it!"
With that, Arthur left. In Hollywood, no one could stir up trouble in front of him.
"Carl, make this person disappear as quickly as possible," Arthur said in the car, handing Arnon Milchan's data to Carl Anderson.
Carl nodded, "Understood!"
...
In the following days, a series of mishaps occurred:
A senior White House adviser, presidential assistant Rahm Emanuel, died in a car accident in Chicago.
Meanwhile, a White House intern, Monica Lewinsky, had her apartment ransacked; the intruders not only stole all her valuables but also shot her.
Additionally, in Fairfax, Los Angeles, Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan and his wife Amanda Kyzer were caught in a shootout between gang members at a synagogue, dying from stray bullets!
Particularly with Milchan's death -- who had some notoriety in Hollywood -- his passing sparked discussions about gang violence in Los Angeles; a Hollywood millionaire had died, prompting the Los Angeles Police Department to launch a renewed investigation into the city's gangs.
Yet again, this contributed to the Los Angeles community.
