Arthur Smith's Hollywood Odyssey

Chapter 455: Chapter 455: Pete Wilson

[Chapter 517: Peter Wilson]

Arthur Smith arrived in San Francisco a day after the Fairmont Conference but stayed in the city, specifically bringing Mary Krause from Arlington, Virginia, to San Francisco.

Simply put, since Willie Brown wanted to break free from his control, he could not withstand it.

At the JW Marriott Hotel in Union Square, San Francisco, Arthur sat on the sofa, casually flipping through documents detailing Willie Brown's scandals and bribery allegations. He then looked across at California Governor Peter Wilson and said, "You want me to support Frank Jordan for re-election as San Francisco's mayor."

"Yeah, since Willie Brown is about to slip from your control; if he takes over as mayor... Given San Francisco's racial divide, he would do a lot of things, and it won't bode well for you!"

Regardless, Peter Wilson hoped the Republican Frank Jordan would continue as mayor of San Francisco. Though the city operated under a mayor-council system, the San Francisco mayor held significant influence over other government systems. The mayor of San Francisco could be considered the most important mayor in California.

"He's looking for Jewish allies mainly because he has some Democratic secrets in his pocket and doesn't want to remain a puppet," Arthur chuckled. "African Americans, LGBT, drug addicts, that's his base."

San Francisco would see many Jewish tech moguls in the future. Did Willie Brown think he could break free with their support? Ridiculous!

Arthur handed the documents to Peter Wilson. "This is enough to end his political career!"

Peter Wilson took a look and showed a smile. "Arthur, what do you want in return?"

"Let Kamala Harris become the District Attorney of San Francisco," Arthur replied, handing over a resume.

Peter Wilson glanced at it, feeling a bit of a jolt. Willie Brown's mistress?

This resume boasted more qualifications -- female, minority, LGBT, single parent...

"Arthur, you've wanted to replace Willie Brown with Kamala Harris for a while now?" Peter Wilson realized, given Willie Brown's many scandals; not to mention he was getting on in years and had lost favor in California's elite circles!

Arthur shook his head and replied plainly, "If he plays ball, he can continue living the high life, but unfortunately, he wants to leave the control. A ticking time bomb, who knows when it's going to blow?

"In that case, let him make the most of his remaining influence. Kamala Harris can inherit some of his political legacy!"

"Mary," Arthur called out, and soon after, Mary Krause walked in. "Yes, sir?"

"Go meet Kamala Harris, get her on board, and let's see how much of Willie Brown's political legacy she can claim," Arthur instructed, as Mary Krause had been in contact with Kamala Harris previously.

"Got it!" Mary Krause nodded.

Arthur then turned to Peter Wilson. "I don't want to see San Francisco become overwhelmed with drug addicts, LGBT, and other problems. We can't allow Willie Brown's ways to persist!"

Peter Wilson chuckled. "Jews love to stir the pot. However, Frank Jordan is a man of action, someone you can trust. Let's hope Kamala Harris can hold her ground in the future!"

The mayor of San Francisco was a position Arthur Smith had laid out for her; Peter Wilson certainly noticed that. The condition was that Kamala Harris had to play along! Otherwise, Willie Brown's current predicament could easily become her future predicament.

Arthur stood up, looking somewhat unconcerned. "Who knows what the future holds, but people in the spotlight can't have their own agendas."

"Shall we head back to Sacramento?" Peter Wilson asked Arthur. Although they belonged to rival parties, their common target remained the same.

Arthur nodded. "We can't let Willie Brown's issues balloon; California's politics needs stability!"

"Don't worry, he won't have the chance. After all, he was the former Speaker of the Assembly. If not, the consequences wouldn't be something he can bear."

Peter Wilson had no doubt that if Willie Brown entertained any other ideas, the first to put him down would be Arthur Smith and his crew. In recent years, the political alliance of Arthur Smith and Dianne Feinstein thrived in California. Such good fortune couldn't be allowed to fall apart!

After Peter Wilson left, Mary Krause poured Arthur a drink. "Frank Jordan is set to initiate a money laundering and tax evasion investigation against the Getty family. The Jews putting Willie Brown in power might just be to achieve this."

Arthur laughed. "That's exactly right. The Getty family case is being handled by the San Francisco District Court. The mayor of San Francisco has the authority to suspend investigations. If Willie Brown runs for mayor, Frank Jordan could very likely lose." Right now, public support for Willie Brown was higher than for Frank Jordan.

"Let's not forget, San Francisco is renowned throughout the nation as a den of iniquity; Willie Brown's base consists of those riffraff!"

The Getty family was a well-known Jewish family in California; Getty Oil had sold to Texaco a decade ago for ten billion dollars.

Now, many of the Getty family's foundations were financial backers for Jewish politicians.

"Alright, you need to speak with Kamala Harris quickly; this is her chance. How much of Willie Brown's political legacy she can claim depends on her own abilities. This time, I'm just going to watch the show from Sacramento!"

As Arthur said this, he downed his glass of wine.

...

Two days later, major newspapers in the Bay Area, including the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Examiner, the San Jose Mercury News, and the Oakland Tribune, reported extensively on Willie Brown, the former Speaker of the California Assembly and candidate for mayor, whose numerous scandals made headlines: Over 50 affairs, extravagant living in luxurious villas and on private yachts, more than $3 million in bribery...

As the news broke, Northern California was set alight; 61-year-old Willie Brown's future was entirely bleak!

Governor Peter Wilson ordered the Sacramento Federal District Court to handle the Willie Brown case. California had four federal district courts with the status equivalent to state courts, located in San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

Willie Brown appeared on television, admitting his mistakes on live broadcast, repenting before God, and apologizing to the people of California, immediately announcing his withdrawal from the mayoral race!

...

In Sacramento, at his riverside villa, Arthur sat on the sofa, watching the news report covering the sensational trial involving the Simpson murder case.

On October 3, 1995, the jury in the federal court for the Los Angeles region delivered a not guilty verdict!

"No wonder Peter Wilson decided to move against Willie Brown at this point!" Arthur chuckled. A mere Willie Brown could hardly compete with the hype surrounding the Simpson murder case.
