Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Shen Zhen didn't refuse such a small request of Bai Meiyue and agreed with a hum. She printed the image and turned to look at Bai Meiyue who was looking at the picture like a love-sick fool. She couldn't understand why Bai Meiyue was staring at the picture with a gaze that was filled with guilt and love.

It was clear that Bai Meiyue liked this child very much, so why did she feel guilty?

"The child is growing very well; even with all the running and jumping around that you do, it seems like the child is completely fine." Shen Zhen was quite stunned when she saw that the child was completely fine. She was certain that with all the running, jumping and the tricks that Bai Meiyue was pulling, the child might be disturbed, but it seemed like she was thinking too much.

"I told you that I had everything under my control." Bai Meiyue was amused when she saw the stunned look on Shen Zhen's face. "I wouldn't have done it, if I was not sure."

Though Bai Meiyue said that, she was indeed quite worried. She was the only one who was raising the child and had to make sure that her little son wouldn't get the same sickly body like he did in her past life. Maybe it was because of her careless actions that her son ended up getting sick body that needed medicine every once in a while.

Fortunately, her son was growing well. It didn't matter that he was sucking all of her nutrients; as long as he could grow up healthy, Bai Meiyue would be happy with just that.

Bai Meiyue carefully placed the photo in her bag and was about to head out when she heard Shen Zhen say, "Miss Bai, do you think that we can take this machine back with us?"

"You want to take it back?" Bai Meiyue never thought about taking the machine back with her because she had the barter system. With the system in her hands, she could conjure just about anything that she wanted without any worries. Thus, it never came to her mind.

But Shen Zhen was different. She didn't know that Bai Meiyue had such a system in her hands. If anything, she firmly believed that the world was coming to an end; such machines were nothing less than treasures. Who knows when the human civilisation would get back on its feet? It was better to save these things and wait until things got better.

Bai Meiyue naturally could not disclose the matter of the system to Shen Zhen. She nodded and said, "Very well, I noticed that there was a small truck in the parking lot earlier; we will think of a way to bring these machines to the parking lot and then ship them to the Sunshine Deluxe."

The reason she agreed with Shen Zhen was because she wanted to make Shen Zhen follow her willingly. If she didn't hand in a carrot, then the woman might not agree to follow her. Thus, it was important to bait the woman.

"Really? You don't mind?" Shen Zhen thought that Bai Meiyue would definitely refuse after all; this was not the time to collect the medical supplies but the woman actually agreed.

"Why not?" Bai Meiyue shrugged her shoulders casually and then said to Shen Zhen, "Though some people will awaken like me and Master Lei, it doesn't mean that everyone will awaken as an ability user. They will still need to rely on doctors like you to treat their sickness and their injuries. It's only right for you to collect the instruments and then bring them with you."

When Shen Zhen heard Bai Meiyue's words, she was indeed quite touched. Her eyes flickered and she pursed her lips in a thin line. It would be a lie to say that she was not moved. She indeed wanted to bring these instruments with her so that she could continue serving the people.

Her grandmother was a small physician in the village and all her life she only wanted one thing and that was to see Shen Zhen become a doctor. Her grandmother often told her that saving a life was the biggest grace.

"Then can I bring the rest of the instruments?" Shen Zhen asked. Zhou Hongbei was a surgeon, which meant that he could use those instruments to help others as well.

Bai Meiyue nodded and agreed. "You can do whatever you want."

When Shen Zhen heard her response, her eyes were filled with a hidden glee that was hard to suppress. She turned to look around the room and hurriedly started to collect the instruments. It wasn't that she didn't understand the changes in the world but more than killing zombies, Shen Zhen found it more familiar to save the lives of others.

She knew that sooner or later the human civilization would collapse even further. Since that was the case, then she wanted to at least save a little bit of it.

"Okay, then I will ask the rest of the nurses to collect the incubators and all the other equipment that can be used by the babies."

Bai Meiyue hummed as she stepped outside the ward; however, as soon as she stepped out, her gaze met with Dacheng, who stood right in front of the water serpent.

"Miss Bai," the man greeted her with a smile.

Though he didn't speak, his eyes was locked at the board above the doors of the room from where Bai Meiyue stepped out. It was clear that he must have sensed what was wrong with Bai Meiyue but didn't have any evidence to prove it, which was the only reason why he was standing outside without saying anything.

Bai Meiyue simply glanced at the man and nodded. She didn't rush to please him nor did she bother talking with him. With just a light glance, she turned on her feet and walked away.
