Chapter 31
Chapter 31: Others Might Swallow Their Anger, But I Won’t!
“Grrrr … Grrrr …”
“Raaaah … Grrrr …”
As various bottles, chairs, stools, and glass cups were thrown onto the street, the noise grew louder and louder. The cars parked on both sides of the street, which hadn’t been driven away, began to blare their alarms due to the commotion.
As the noise increased, the affected area expanded, and more and more zombies were drawn to it. With blood-red, rage-filled eyes, they emerged from every dark corner.
In just a few seconds, a horde of nearly a thousand zombies had formed, and it was still growing!
This scene naturally did not escape Jiang Cheng’s eyes. Instead of showing any worry or fear, a hint of excitement seemed to flash in his expression.
Beside him, Liu Yuqing, who had initially been startled, gradually calmed down. Seeing the zombies swarming from all directions and the forming horde in the distance, she asked, “Jiang Cheng, what should we do?”
“Get in the car first,” Jiang Cheng replied as he took out the mid-range nail gun and pulled the trigger at the zombies that had entered his firing range.
“Okay!”
Without hesitation, Liu Yuqing climbed through the sunroof into the passenger seat.
Thud, thud, thud …
One by one, the iron nails shot out of the nail gun with tremendous force, blowing the heads off the zombies that had entered its range.
“Not bad. The power has increased, and the range has reached 40 meters. It feels much better to use now.”
After emptying the 20 nails from the mid-range nail gun in one go, Jiang Cheng grabbed the portable refrigerator and quickly jumped into the armored vehicle.
“Keep an eye on the surroundings for me. Let me know immediately if you see any areas with fewer zombies.”
Seated in the driver’s seat, Jiang Cheng placed the portable refrigerator in the space he had reserved in the back seat, fastened his seatbelt, and, with his foot on the gas pedal, began driving the armored vehicle along the planned route. He crushed the zombies that came charging at them while instructing Liu Yuqing.
“Got it!”
Liu Yuqing responded without further ado, focusing her attention on the surroundings, searching for a way through the horde.
“Messing with me was the biggest mistake of your lives!”
As Jiang Cheng drove the armored vehicle out of the supermarket and onto the street, he glanced up at the more than two hundred survivors who were throwing things down and creating noise to hinder him, his eyes flashing coldly.
These zombies alone wouldn’t stop him, but if these people were planning to target him, they were gravely mistaken.
On the residential building above!
The survivors, seeing Jiang Cheng driving away unharmed in the armored vehicle, became even more frenzied. They threw things even more desperately, aiming to block the road ahead and puncture his tires.
This action naturally attracted even more zombies, with some chasing the noise and ending up in front of Jiang Cheng’s vehicle.
However, the armored vehicle was powerful, and it had just been refueled the day before. The zombies blocking the way didn’t pose much of a threat.
But Liu Yuqing couldn’t stand it anymore.
“These bastards! We didn’t do anything to them, so why are they trying to harm us?”
Jiang Cheng, focused on driving the armored vehicle, responded coldly, “In their eyes, not doing anything for them is as good as harming them.”
“You mean, because we didn’t save them, they want to kill us?” Liu Yuqing’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“This is the law of survival in the apocalypse: If you don’t kill others, they’ll try to kill you.”
At this point, Jiang Cheng paused, glancing at the survivors before continuing, “But I’m not like others. Others might swallow their anger if they can’t kill these people, but I won’t.”
With that, he raised his hand and pressed the Bluetooth earpiece, “Jarvis, locate these people’s positions and give them a little surprise.”
“Understood, sir.”
Jarvis, the super AI, instantly understood Jiang Cheng’s intentions, and its voice came through the car’s speakers.
Liu Yuqing was momentarily stunned, looking at the car’s equipment. “Who exactly is this Jarvis? He seems incredibly powerful.”
Jiang Cheng didn’t explain, so she didn’t ask further.
Two seconds later!
Buzz, buzz …
Boom, boom …
Suddenly, deafening noises erupted from the surrounding residential buildings—blaring dance music, loud square dance songs, and various electronic alarm sounds …
Moreover, these sounds were incredibly loud, as if the volume had been cranked up to the maximum!
What’s happening?
Liu Yuqing looked out the car window at the surrounding residential and office buildings.
At that moment, an unbelievable scene unfolded!
“Grrrr … Grrrr …”
“Raaaah … Grrrr …”
All the zombies inside the surrounding residential and office buildings went berserk!
In every hallway, zombies surged forward frantically, smashing open one door after another and rushing inside.
“Ahhhh … Help …”
“Stay back! Stay ba—ahhh …”
The blood-curdling screams of the survivors inside these buildings echoed loudly.
Soon, one by one, survivors began jumping off balconies, only to splatter on the ground below, where they were quickly devoured by the surrounding zombies.
Liu Yuqing was stunned by what she saw!
Did Jiang Cheng do all of this?
…
Among them, the middle-aged man with the fat face who lived on the seventeenth floor was no exception.
The moment the TV, speakers, and computer in his home suddenly turned on by themselves and started blasting music at full volume, he panicked. But before he could react to what was happening, a loud crash echoed from outside his security door.
Boom!!
Immediately, the entire security door exploded in front of him, revealing a zombie outside whose arms had evolved into scythe-like blades.
“No, don’t come any closer … I don’t want to die … Ahhh …” Seeing the zombie, the middle-aged man let out a scream, even wetting his pants in terror.
But before he could take a step back, the scythe-wielding zombie appeared right in front of him.
Slash—
With a spray of blood, the scythe-wielding zombie swung its blade-like arm, killing him instantly and turning him into its meal.
“Grrrr … Grrrr …”
In less than half a minute, the scythe-wielding zombie had devoured the middle-aged man.
Licking its scythe arms, still hungry, it searched for its next target.
At that moment, an armored vehicle was plowing through zombies on the street below, trying to break through the horde, which caught the zombie’s attention …
