Chapter 3: Armored Vehicle is Awesome!! Jarvis Program Loaded!
—
“They’re here!!!”
In the rearview mirror, a zombie with a pale blue face and blood dripping from its mouth furiously pounced on a car, shattering the glass within moments and crawling inside, turning the driver into its food. However, some quick-thinking drivers, seeing that their cars were stuck and unable to move forward, immediately chose to abandon their vehicles and flee.
“How could they be so brutal!”
Jiang Cheng’s pupils contracted as he watched a woman being tackled to the ground by a zombie, her stomach ripped open and torn to shreds, causing his stomach to churn.
But that wasn’t the worst. Among the fleeing pedestrians, a young boy being held by his mother suddenly turned blue and purple. In the next second, he mutated, and to his mother’s disbelief, he bit into her neck, tearing her throat apart. Blood spurted wildly as she let out helpless, muffled cries and collapsed to the ground.
A few seconds later, she stood up again, becoming one of the zombie horde.
In addition, there was an elderly man with a head full of white hair, moving slowly. After mutating into a zombie, he began to move with an eerie fluidity, and his strength became comparable to that of an average!
Logically speaking, at such an advanced age, this old man should have one foot in the grave, needing a cane just to walk, let alone having any strength left.
But this was different. After mutating into a zombie, the frailty brought on by age completely vanished!
Bang, bang, bang …
Suddenly, gunshots rang out, and through the rearview mirror, Jiang Cheng saw at the street corner behind him, a dozen police officers, guns raised, desperately trying to fend off the approaching zombies as they retreated.
“The numbers are too overwhelming. How could they possibly hold them off?”
Watching them retreat step by step, Jiang Cheng shook his head.
Boom—
Suddenly, one of the officers pulled out a grenade and tossed it into the horde of zombies in front of him. With a deafening explosion, the grenade blew up, turning the zombies within a five-meter radius into pieces.
However, this didn’t make the frenzied zombie horde retreat; instead, it made them even more crazed. Thousands of zombies roared and charged forward like a tidal wave, directly overwhelming the officer.
Everything happened so fast that it wasn’t until now that the car owners stuck in traffic finally reacted.
“Z-zombies!”
“Quick, run!”
In their panic, these drivers floored their gas pedals, wildly crashing through anything in their way! Some didn’t even care about the pedestrians’ lives, swerving onto the sidewalks in search of a way out.
Seeing this, other drivers followed suit, also driving onto the sidewalks.
This forced the pedestrians fleeing for their lives onto the side, slowing them down and allowing the zombies to quickly catch up and tackle them to the ground.
In an instant, the already chaotic avenue became even more chaotic. However, there was a slight benefit. As a result, the previously congested lane became somewhat less crowded.
Bang!!
Suddenly, a dark shadow slammed into Jiang Cheng’s vehicle, followed by a cry for help.
“Help me! Please, help me! You’re driving an armored vehicle; you must be a police officer, right? Please, let me in! I don’t want to die!”
A young man with yellow hair, looking rough and tough, with tattoos on his arms, saw Jiang Cheng’s vehicle, which had already been fully modified and exuded a strong sense of security. He instinctively assumed Jiang Cheng was a police officer and rushed over without hesitation, seeking refuge.
Damn it, what sharp eyes—out of so many cars, he just had to pick mine!
Jiang Cheng’s mouth twitched as he chose to ignore the plea.
It wasn’t that he was cold-hearted, but rather that he was currently in a dire situation himself, barely able to protect himself, let alone save someone else.
The zombies were already close. Opening the door now would be unthinkable!
Moreover, he didn’t know this person and didn’t want to risk leaving a safety hazard for himself or end up like the other drivers, torn to pieces and turned into zombie food!
“Ahhhhh!!!”
The tattooed young man, who was banging on the car door and begging Jiang Cheng to let him in, saw that there was no response from the armored vehicle. He was about to seek help from another car, but just as he turned around, several zombies pounced on him, and as blood sprayed everywhere, he was unsurprisingly infected and turned into a zombie.
“Ugh, ugh, ugh …”
“Roar … Roar …”
“Hiss, hiss …”
As the growls echoed, the zombie horde surged forward like a tide, engulfing the armored vehicle Jiang Cheng was in.
But then something miraculous happened!
The zombies passing by Jiang Cheng’s vehicle didn’t attack it!
Instead, they ran right past his vehicle, continuing to charge ahead towards the other survivors.
“Huh? System, what’s going on?? Why haven’t they noticed me??”
Jiang Cheng had already picked up a wrench from the car, ready to fight off the zombies, but seeing this scene, he was stunned and quickly asked the system.
“Host, the LV1 armored vehicle’s windows have extremely strong anti-peeping and bulletproof functions, along with superb soundproofing. Sounds below 150 decibels cannot penetrate (normal speaking volume is 60-70 decibels).”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Cheng could only say one thing: “Armored vehicle, awesome!”
Just then, the system’s voice sounded again.
Ding! “LV1 Armored Vehicle modification complete!”
Ding! “Jarvis Program successfully connected!”
As the system’s prompt sounded, the small black box that had been attached to the smartphone turned into white light and disappeared before his eyes.
“Finally done!”
Jiang Cheng’s eyes lit up with joy, but he remained calm. He didn’t immediately start the vehicle to leave but instead, since the zombies hadn’t noticed him yet, quietly called out to his phone, “Jarvis!”
The next second, the phone’s screen lit up, and a deep, gentlemanly voice responded.
“Sir, how may I assist you?”
“Not much different from the movies!”
Hearing the voice identical to that from the Marvel movies, Jiang Cheng confirmed that this Jarvis was indeed the same one he knew, and he sighed in relief.
“Jarvis, help me find a safe place!”
At this moment, although he knew it was most urgent to leave here, he needed a destination, a relatively safe place. Otherwise, he would be like a headless chicken, aimlessly wandering, which could very well be suicidal.
Since the zombies couldn’t notice him for now, he was safe and had enough time to plan a route.
“Certainly, sir!”
Jarvis responded, and immediately connected to the internet through the phone. In just a second, it located several safe places and displayed them on the phone.
“Sir, the safe locations have been marked for you. Please take a look!”
